The Deltarune Rap Battles Halloween special brings us to the world of Doki Doki Literature Club, where two bubbly neighbors face off on the beat! Sweet and silly Sayori squares off with nice and noble Noelle!

noelle holiday is a character from deltarune. she is one of kris's classmates, as well as their neighbor and childhood friend. she plays a minor role in chapter 1, but becomes a major character in chapter 2, where she temporarily joins the party during cyber city. noelle is friendly and cheerful, but also very timid, and sometimes has trouble saying what she's thinking. she apologizes often, and stays quiet about her feelings, such as her possible crushes, out of fear. after class, noelle startles kris and susie by walking up to them just as they are preparing to enter the dark world to invite them to study at the library with her and berdly. susie awkwardly accepts. however, when kris and susie arrive at the library, it becomes apparent that noelle and berdly have fallen into a new dark world in the computer lab. in one route, kris, controlled by the player, uses their time with noelle to help her become "stronger" through killing enemies with her iceshock spell. noelle is then coaxed into stealing the freeze ring from a shopkeeper, causing her to become more ambivalent towards killing enemies, subsequently becoming brainwashed into thinking kris is making her stronger. eventually, kris and noelle encounter berdly, whom noelle initially does not recognize. berdly engages in a battle and the player forces noelle to use snowgrave, a spell she does not know. this causes berdly to die inside a massive ice crystal. after this, noelle leaves the party in a depressed daze, and is not seen again until kris seals the dark fountain. the party wakes up in the computer lab. berdly does not wake up.
sayori is one of the five main characters of doki doki literature club!, one of the five members and the vice president of the literature club, and the protagonist's childhood friend. sayori is initially portrayed as the character archetype of a genki girl, expressing a bubbly and cheery disposition. she is very clumsy, noted for finding ways to accidentally hurt herself or to drop random things. regardless, she is shown to be a jokingly cunning individual who can trick others to get food, shown after managing to eat natsuki's cookie without her permission. the protagonist seems to view her as an airhead and slightly annoying at the beginning of the game, but he starts to sympathize with her after she confesses about her depression. the protagonist notes how there hasn't been much change in her, and the changes the protagonist notices in her later are due to monika's interference, amplifying her depression and suicidal tendencies. the protagonist finds a a poem written by sayori named with the words "get out of my head" repeated constantly. this will cause the protagonist to panic and go to sayori's house, where she will be found dead, hanging from a noose with blood on her hands. if the player tries to load their save after her death, the game states that the save files are corrupt and completely reboots, as if sayori never existed.

NOTE TO ALL REACTION CHANNELS: This video features incredibly heavy topics relating to mental health and is deeply relating to both Deltarune and Doki Doki Literature Club. This may not the best video to watch on your channel, proceed with caution. This is less a rap battle and more an experimental art piece, which may make commentary difficult.
This year, I really wanted to push what I could make. I wanted to tackle these games in an accurate and abstract way, one I've never seen tackled before. I apologize if this has upset you, even with the context and warnings I set. My work is my art, and experimenting with formats makes for some of the most interesting projects, as I see it.
I do not have plans for battles of this scale and with such a narrative anytime soon. I hope to return to the channel posting a more casual project soon, so be sure to ring the bell to not miss out! If you did make it to the end and read all of my notes, I want to know what you think of it! Be honest, all feedback is good feedback.
And because I feel it's important to bring this up at the end, with just how heavy the themes in the air are;
Don't let that voice dictate who you are. That voice can be the one of a manipulative mutual, a parental figure, or that nagging voice in the back of your head. You are you. Coming from a person who has certainly had battles with mental health, and the war not being over just yet, it will get better. It takes work, it may hurt, but I promise you, everything will be ok. i love the parallels between noelle being controlled by kris and sayori being controlled by monika in this! you always match up two characters that i wouldnt think of as connected and make the rap work really well, with seemingly random pairs complimenting each other’s characters perfectly.

God the horror aspect was amazingly well done. As much as I love Monika, she really can be terrifying and this was such a great way to show that. And of course, the actual aspect of depression too... Really great work.
Can we just take a second to appreciate Azia as Sayori? Going through Sayori vs Papyrus by Meta, Sayori vs Sayaka by SIR Rap Battles, Sayori vs Squidward by Uberocity, Sayori vs Seiko by Skeep Tiel, and this battle right here, Azia is always able to bring so much emotion to Sayori's character. Either through her static, depressed tone, or her frantic desperation, it never feels like I'm hearing someone act out these emotions, but I'm actually hearing the character feeling these things
Someone should make a playlist of all the Sayori vs rap battles where Azia voices Sayori.
Azia is the best Sayori. She's adorable and knows how to show the right emotion when the scene calls for it.

Jesus criminy, Azia, we all know you're a great musician, but I cannot emphasize enough how freaking phenomenal your acting chops are in this video. It feels so real and I can't even imagine what it must've been like while recording. This video simply would not have worked with anyone else, and I have to tip my hat to you for giving me genuine goosebumps.

My God... I don't think any other rap battle channel has portrayed Sayori so accurately. In the end though, DDLC is supposed to be a horror game, although, looking at media depictions of the characters, you'd forget about that aspect. This battle is a nice little reminder. It conveys heavy emotions, brings a sense of uncomfortableness while still being a bop and a great rap battle. Definitely your greatest work.
Now THAT's how you do a horror battle. I appreciate the warnings at the begining. Honestly this is what something I'd like to see more Rap Battles do, take heavy topics and not shy away from how messed up and uncomfortable it is and I think you tackled it pretty well for the format it's in. Great job mate.

You guys did absolutely amazing. This is definitely the best battle I've seen. I could just see all the effort that was put into this and I love it.
Almost forgot 2:22 and Azia's emotion as Sayori is faltering is just so heart-wrenching. Everything about this battle was amazing, but this part just stood out to me.
I think this might legit be my favorite battle this Halloween, we need more story battles that try to break the mold of the format like this. Loved it
And both characters still got hurt in the end…that’s cold… but a fire battle! We need more horror battles that actually send chills down your spine!
Noelle's smirk in her second verse before she says the "Call for Yuri" line is actually kinda intimidating. I'm living for it and this experiment of your artistic direction felt really well put together. I'm extremely impressed, and this product will stand out on your channel, I'm sure. I’ve watched this more than probably 40 times over the year and 3 months it’s been on the internet. This one of the only rap battles I’ve watched that has never gotten stale despite the many times I’ve seen it. This is flawless. Like, completely flawless. No minor or major problems, it’s completely and perfectly rounded, every aspect of this battle. The writing, the voice acting, the storytelling, the astounding characterisation, the genuine gut wrenching horror and emotion, yeah, I got genuinely scared and even slightly scared at Sayori’s last round, don’t @ me. This project is pure stellar, the effort, passion and work, it’s not only extremely evident and layed out, it leaks through screen. Every time. This is my favourite battle ever, like, ever, ever. Nothing is going to and will top this. I already loved your work before this, but the first time I saw this, my respect for you skyrocketed, HIGH. GamingPlush, you’ve made a masterpiece. A Mona Lisa level quality piece of music. Don’t get me wrong, your recent battles have been all bangers, but, Jesus, this is art dude. Can’t wait to watch this (plus your next vids) infinite times over. Bravo gp, you cooked.

There were so many great parts, and just the whole plot of it is top tier, but I think the part I love most at this moment is "Silent night, holy night, and a nice weekend."
Woah... Without a doubt your best video. The writing and performances are not only excellent for a rap battle, but from a storytelling POV as well. The fact that the portrayals honor the source material, while merging together so organically, AND while mimicking the story progression of both games is amazingly impressive! honestly given more time to reflect on it, this is probably my favorite rap battle of all time, including anything from the OG ERBOH
its just so expertly done from beginning to end every single line is amazing. the editing is amazing. the performances are ESPECIALLY amazing. it also perfectly captures the feeling its going for and the media itsrepresenting
its not perfect, nothing is, but for me, this is pretty much the perfect rap battle.

This battle was an experience. After reading your posts about wanting to do something special with this, I feel like you succeeded. Normally when I watch rap battles I enjoy the savageness of the lines, the witty word play and just the great music that ties it all together.
This is different though. I haven't played Deltarune so can't comment much on Noelle, but this really felt like Sayori here; that it was actually her and not someone playing her. I loved how the battle started light and cheery. The burns don't start that deep, but that fits the characters perfectly. And then Noelle being hesitant to go after Sayori in the final verse. All the effects really are amazing too. This is more than a rap battle. It's a story of these characters told by means of them rapping. And one that left me hooked and in awe. This is truly a one of a kind rap battle. Well done.
I am confused about the "Fifth Day of Christmas line" since it seemed like Noelle was talking about Sayori but I don't remember anything like that happening in DDLC
This is just about what I was trying to pull with this whole project, so this comment really means a ton, ty! Highly recommend Deltarune, btw, both chapters out now are free on PC and they have so much to offer.
Much of Noelle’s background revolves around the Christmas season. The 12 days of Christmas song was just a really good platform to tie in Noelle’s ring and the idea of Sayori seeking romance. There is no solid fifth day, just a way to bring in this concept!
@@GamingPlush64 I definitely want to play Deltarune. Part of me wants to wait for it to be fully released but I may just get the first two chapters now. I'm currently playing Danganronpa V3 so maybe after that I'll play Deltarune. Your Spampton vs Roy battle got UA-cam to suggest more Undertale and Deltarune related videos so that's gotten me really excited to get into Deltarune.
if you haven’t played Undertale first, you may miss a fair amount of things, so try playing it first. But trust me, you won’t regret it!

Sayori's increasing sadness, leading to desperation as she gets closer to her end
Then Noelle, who wants nothing more than to help, but gets peer-pressured by Kris to keep insulting Sayori even worse
Then, that ending... man, where do I begin? Sayori's VA is honestly phenomenal in her role. If you told me that the VA was begging for her life while being recorded, I'd believe you. Then, Noelle looks to Kris for guidance, her desperation and worry growing, too.
Then, there's that visceral scream as Noelle freezes Sayori alive. Again, if you told me that you were stabbing Sayori's VA behind the scenes, I would believe it without question
This isn't something that I'd probably listen to on repeat, but the fear factor alone makes it an immediate 10/10, and I haven't even scratched the surface as to why this battle is so amazing
As always, you nailed the animation. The pixel art was incredible, and you really made these 2-D characters feel at home in a 3-D background
Sayori wins for her VA alone. Azia has starred in several roles that I liked before, but to me, this is by far her peak. Every bit of emotion felt so real that I almost thought that it was, and while I didn't get much from Noelle (not because of her VA, but just because of the soft nature of the character. Lindz did really good), she still holds a lot of emotion in this battle

OMG SAYORIS FIRST VERSE, YOU USED THE WORDS THAT APPEAL TO HER WHEN WRITING POEMS AND MADE THEM GLOW LIKE THE ACTUAL GAME THAT'S SO COOL
I loved it and I hated the fact that I loved it ahah!
I really like how they're both really nice people that absolutely don't mean a single thing they say but are both manipulated to do so, Sayori with Monika tampering files and Noelle with the player controlling Kris, it was so creepy to watch, I got chills!
3:04 I like how you added the knocking sound effect, to imitate the sound of Noelle’s hooves moving in line.
The moment Noelle started ending lines with the long "i" sound in the 3rd verse was the moment I realized this was not a normal rap battle.
There are so many amazing things to comment on from the lyrics to the visuals and everywhere in between, both characters truly feel like themselves here and they feel like they're talking directly through the games they came from, but I think the best part to me is the very very end. The way the beat sounds like a heartbeat that slows down before stopping completely. It's like a perfect little bow to wrap around the gift that is this rap battle. Outstanding.
Also, can't get enough of that 3D effect on the Cyber World.
COMING BACK TO THIS RAP BATTLE ALMOST A YEAR LATER AND OH MY GOODNESS. I CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW HEAVILY THIS HIT. YOU CAPTURED EVERYTHING RIGHT. I FORGOT ABOUT HOW TALENTED YOU WERE!! SOMETHING ABOUT THE DEPRESSION ASPECTS IS JUST SPOT ON. HAS ME FEELING A SORTA WAY. AMAZING.
The darker aspects of the battle are obviously great, but I like how the first half sets up for it. Both characters have this kind of dorky vibe, with their disses mainly just being light puns. It makes the turn feel a lot more drastic.
If I had the ability to cry again this battle would've made me done so... this hurt, like emotionally... it spawned sadness, rage, surprise, all after allowing me to feel a little bit of happiness. All of the depression I had been trying to lock away and tone down had breached through the happiness I was trying to layer upon it. You did what ddlc didn't do... I've watched gameplay for the main game, and yet this sparked way more emotions from me by somehow doing the same thing...
I get it now... don't let the voice dictate who you are... it's like Kris and Monika forcing Sayori and Noelle to actually hurt each other instead of having a fun little battle... it's actually something I struggle with too... I guess I've got my own Monika constantly in control of me, huh?
I would love to see where this would've gone if it were a pacifist route... maybe a potential Christmas special? That's definitely the vibes this one gives, or, I guess, gave off... the two of them deserve to have some fun after what they just went through... Noelle just trying to figure out how it worked was adorable, especially her little "Yeah!" 1:22 , it's like she was proud of where she was taking it and was like "hey, I'm starting to understand this!". Sayori's positivity in the start of her second verse was something I've never seen in a rap battle, and it fits her so well!
This was honestly amazing... I can't believe what I just watched... you genuinely surprised me... and not in the "Oh my god!" way, more like in the "Oh my god..." way, if that makes sense...
I love how this gets turned around from Noelle thinking this is ridiculous and weird while Sayori dunks on her, to Noelle going snowgrave and absolutely tearing into Sayori while she starts crying is great and not heartbreaking in the slightest! :')
About time DDLC fan-works start playing with the horror aspects more. Excellent work!
Well…that kinda turned for the worst. Kinda makes sense when you bring two manipulated characters together with one being depressed and the other having immense power.

Well that was a very dark turn the battle just took, but I will say Sayori got the 1st for me as the delivery was halarious to me (Azia killed it as usual), and that other girl in the closet was straight disrespect. Now in her 2nd, she came even more disrespectful with bringing up her dad and her sister, but then Noelle went CRAZY in her 2nd and was about to throw the obligatory line about Sayori. Then when Sayori went SUPER CRAZY in her 3rd, she was STILL ROASTING NOELLE with the releases and the Berdly bar. It was a hard decision but the winner is..............
Sayori by default because Noelle didn't rap the last round.

Idk why I put off from watching this for so long. This is so fucking cool and unique. The VAs did so well representing their characters and the narrative of the video is something I didn’t expect, especially at the end. Which, btw, I love Sayori’s ending verse. Azia’s emotional performance of Sayori and the bitter ending makes the video so much more impactful than I expected.

DAMN BTORTHER, I thought Sayori was at the losing end when she started to break down after Noelle's verse, but just how much mistaken I was... Sayori obliterated Neolle in her last verse, it was so intense and well made! Overall Sayori won and the whole video kicks ass!

I'm not into either of these properties but I really appreciate the subversion of the rap battle format and I think it was well done.
Wow this was honestly one of my favorite rap battles. From bias and opinionated stand point. The choice to use sayori fitted perfectly, Giving such a great and interesting matchup.
I would also like to point out how it never says "Who won" like every other rap battle. Really shows the respect for these characters and how serious stuff like this is, as well describesd this as an art piece rather than a battle. MASSIVE respect to them for that.
The voice actors did a great job capturing the characters, Azia did an awesome job on the third verse as Sayori. The beginning of Noelle's third verse was really cool too. The small roles were done well also.
The editing is really well done also, with both games feeling true to their franchise. Here is a question, how did you manage to make 2D scenes into 3D?
With the verses them self, I really enjoyed how the were put together and really hit well. The lines were pretty cool!
I don't want to write that much more so I will just say this, as a person that experienced mental health issues, I feel sympathy for Sayori and it was really awesome to see her be taken more seriously, knowing both of the characters have such dark stories.

@@dylanzlol7293 If you meant that noelle freezed sayori, yeah makes sense but if people are gonna decide who won, it is more about the rap so in that sense I feel it was the best choice to keep it out.
@@ZAC_CowEnjoyer I think it's more clear who won because Sayori had a meltdown on the track when she tried to put together a third verse; Noelle broke her down to a point where she couldn't compete anymore, qualifying it as a "victory."
Though, in the end, neither really won - Sayori's dead, and Noelle is still under Kris' thumb.

Well uh… this was definitely the most horrifying rap battle to come out on Halloween. In a good way I mean it was an amazing video all around but, shit that got uncomfortable. I knew it was gonna get dark because of the Snowgrave aspect and Doki Doki just being, well Doki Doki, but holy fuck!
