      I'm 6-0 325 and a trucker with bad knees. I want something foldable, quality build with little to no maintenance, to me size and speed matter because when I use the e-bike I'm going to be needing it for extended road use, and I'd like to be able to keep up with city traffic whenever I need it.
      Class 3+ speed would be a plus, large enough to handle my weight and foldable, what is your top 3 recommended?

  • @1dash133
    @1dash133 Рік тому +1

    I agree with all your points to consider. If I may, I'd like to add my two cents:
    1. I'd say the number one surprise of new e-bike owners is the substantial handling differences. E-bikes tend to be much heavier, making them less agile than their bike counterparts. The biggest problem (IMO) is keeping the bike upright when stopped or coming to a stop. Where the biker may have had no problems handling a 30-pound bike, he has to REALLY PAY ATTENTION with a 60-pound e-bike. Similar to what motorcycle riders say about their motorcycles, it is said that if you haven't dropped your e-bike, it's only a matter of time before you do.
    For prospective buyers, this translates to avoiding buying an e-bike at the extremity of its recommended size range. If you're 5'1" and you're considering an e-bike recommended for riders between 5'0" and 6'2", I'd suggest you proceed with caution. Try to get answers from people that actually own the bike as to whether the bike would suit you. (It's possible that a response from someone 5'4" might say that the bike "barely fits him".)
    2. The number two surprise of new e-bike owners is that while the experience sort-of/kind-of meets their expectations of an electric motor augmented ride, it is uniquely different.
    It's faster and, yes, that was expected. But going faster means so much more than just "going faster". It means less fear of competing with traffic, often times you're able to keep up with their speed. It means getting tasks done faster, opening more opportunities to do so.
    It's more powerful. Hills that used to obstacles are no longer a problem. Combined with fat tires, you can easily power through previously non-traversable paths.
    Because you can go farther, faster and wider, you can accomplish more tasks. You can pack more stuff. New routes, new connectivity means that your biking world is much wider.
    For prospective buyers, this means that you can and will use your e-bikes in ways that you didn't envision. 😇

    I bought a platform fat tire bike rack for two at a thrift shop that gets donations from Walmart brand new in the box $20. It mounts in the 2" receiver. MSRP is $179. It's the same as the $499. sold by Lectric. BTW I have Lectric 1.0 & 2.0😊 😊😊

    your height and weight and physical abilities are more important than just wattage or battery size or even top speed. This is why i stick with my lowly, 350W step thru with folding smaller frame. If i had to get something else i would choose the Lectric lite

    After 4 years of a 26" hardtail emb, it's getting too hard to kick over that back wheel. And at 70, comfort is important. I wasn't really looking, but I saw something I could afford that ticked all the boxes. 20" full suspension, 500w, fenders, 7 speeds. And $520. Vivi FM20.
    I bit. If it's not a complete disaster, it should let me keep riding. I can fix any part of it, so I can deal with email support.

    Maybe you could make a chart comparing every bike with things like distance, weight capacity, etc. and say specifically what you would pick for certain situations like dirt roads, paved roads in the mountains...etc. Also, anyone have what they think is best for someone who only has the ebike for everything including grocery shopping and traveling 22 miles one way once a week?

    I'm in Canada so definitely want to buy a bike from a company that is from North America even if the bikes come from China. I wish Lectric had a Canadian distributor to take the guess work out of the price based on currency exchange vs set price in Canadian currency from Rad Power Bikes, Himiway, DJ Bikes, Volt etc. Got a suggestion for a 63 year old newbie to e-bikes at 5'5" who loves camping with my hubby and pups?

    Nice video.
    Just subscribed.
    Got my Lectric XP 3.0 long range step-thru back in May.
    Lectric offers free hydraulic brake upgrades for those who purchased that ebike before July 23.
    Got my upgrade kit a few weeks ago.
    Soon will get the free PWR Module upgrade that they will offer as well.
    Totally happy with my bike and the upgraded brakes makes that even more so.
    I needed a folding ebike and this bike was the one most mentioned to buy at least for my needs.
    I never deplete the battery so range has never been an issue but a 2nd battery upgrade from an aftermarket source can be had that pretty much doubles the range.

  • @CodeDeb
    @CodeDeb Рік тому +2

    My first consideration was that I wanted to buy it from a shop and not online because I didn’t want to have to put it together. So I bought a Pedego
    Now that I know a little bit more about E Bikes, I would buy a Lectric folding bike as my second bike so I could travel with it. They seem very reliable and don’t require assembly just unfolding.
    For the price of a bike rack, which I have been told cost about $600, I would rather spend a little more and get a folding bike to travel with and leave my full size bike at home
    Only other thing I would really look at is battery that is how many miles I can get off of a charge. Because you end up riding a lot more miles than you would think on an e bike.
    Whatever bike I got I know I will have to add a suspension seat post and more comfortable seat and some comfort grips. But the ones I have now might fit on another bike.
    And I invested in a new E bike helmet, which, now that I have, I can ride on any bike with it

    You might think about where you normally ride, are their dog's on the route that try to bite you and attack or chase you? Alot of country rural areas may have bigger yard dog's for security and they can run 30 mph for short bursts so having a class 3 bike might be the difference in outrunning a threat or getting dog bit with the slower ebikes.
    I know their coming out with faster and better ebikes everyday and it's already expensive, so might as well get something that's powerful and fast because just because it's there doesn't mean you have to use it. But if you need it , you have the ability.

    I started off with a little 20X4 inch tire ebike was was very happy with it. But I upgraded to a 26X4 inch and I was reborn again 😂😂😂. I will never ever go back to the little ebikes again. I think they are great for a woman and older people with limitations but if your looking for a boss of a ebike the 26X4 is the way to go. I personally don't care about all that folding but I know for some that is a main factor. Just get one and enjoy life is short and its nothing like an ebike.

I'm torn between the Tyson Heybike and the Lectric 3.0 Long Range. Because my budget is as close to 1000 as possible, the 3.0 is the way I'm leaning with a 330 lb payload capacity. The foldable Tyson has a 400 lb payload capacity but costs $500 more. What do you suggest?

    I'd like to share one point of feedback and two questions...
    Your video is very good as it is. And what would make it even better is if you could recommend models for every criteria. Like: "if you're looking for a bike that's as light as it gets, I would recommend this model". That will help viewers even more to choose a bike and make use of your affiliate links.
    Having said that, what would you recommend if I'm looking for a bike that can carry a lot of weight, for groceries or carrying another person, but still is flexible to use it for other purposes while it's easy to carry around?
    Finally, what do you think of Mihogo (or similar models/brands)? They have a model called NX and they're now releasing their Mini?
    Thank you once again!

I have a Lectric XP 2.0, it's my first ebike and it handles pretty well, especially after I put street tires on it. I imagine having the battery more centrally-mounted makes it a little better balanced so not all the weight is on the rear wheel, but I'm still curious if I should try to avoid one with a rear-mounted battery for my future ebike.

      Both are great bikes. The magicycle has more adjustability in the display and bigger battery but you will need a suspension seatpost

    What would be the best ebike for Food delivery ? Long range

    • @JeremiahMcintosh
      @JeremiahMcintosh  Рік тому

      It depends but i would get something that’s capable of having both a front and rear rack. If you don’t need suspension and are ok with a 20” wheel I think the dual battery Lectric xpedition cargo ebike would be a good choice but many of the others I’ve reviewed would probably work great as well but it depends on what you want and need and your budget.

    IMHO, ebikes are a HUGE money pit! They rank right up there with a boat! I have owned two ebikes (Lectric XP Lite, Vitilan i7 Pro). Both proved to be expensive toys. Whatever you purchase, realize it is a "starting place." When you finally get it modified/upgraded to where you like, you'll easily have close to the purchase price of the ebike.(or more). I paid $799 for the Lite and had over $1082 in accessories/upgrades (sold it for $500); the i7 Pro has absorbed an additional $1327.00 to date. An expensive "hobby" for sure!
    PS: Based on my experience, I do not recommend Vitilan for anything. Why? Too many problems (dead battery out of the box, poor quality control; while they try, Chinese tech support is less than what I had hoped for), clunky software, the color display is useless in bright light to name just a few. I asked Vitilan Tech Support about changing the freewheel or crank sprocket to deal with ghost pedaling; their response was to send me information on deraileur adjustment. After back-and-forth a few times, it gets old.
    But the biggest thing I found on Vitilan is that the Facebook Group is heavily censored! If a person posts a negative comment about their product, that person is BANNED from commenting...that is what happened to me. Vitilan locked me out of FB for almost 5 days to send me a not-to-subtle-message. Now, ALL my posts have to be pre-approved by Vitian before they appear! Makes me wonder how many other people have suffered the same fate?

      I got x1 Engwe Engine Pro and am very pleased with the product and customer support. No money spent past bike rrp. It depends on a persons use case whether it would be practically useful or not.
      Some people are just never going to use an EBike for traditional car tasks no matter how good the ebike is.
      I suspect you may just be a car person or in a situation where a car is required, like living far out in the countryside.
      If not and you just have money to burn then go for a reise and muller or the likes not these budget category bikes... although to be fair EU regulations suck the life out of EU models.

      @@Kntryhart Good fun though even if not practical for your location. I'm currently suburban and it suits that perfectly imo. Really sorry to hear about your issues and difficult support process. I had seized suspension, Engwe were responsive and within a couple of emails and a video of the issue being sent, they were offering a replacement fork... but luckily their fix worked and I did not need it. I recently sort of abused my bike on a beach doing off road stuff and broke a part of the folding mechanism, it still did not fail, they're sending the part free of charge. I definitely use mine as a utility vehicle, obviously limited uses but still achieves alot for its size and price... and the fun of course 😅
