- Cloris Leachman received the Legacy Honor at the Coronado Island Film Festival gala in the Crown room of The Del Coronado Hotel. Accompanied by her daughter Dinah Englund, who is most likely used to her mom's improvisations and unpredictable antics. Here Cloris goofs around with Leonard Maltin to see if she can rattle his cage. We think he held his own pretty well.
To Douglas St. Denis and Merridee Book. Thank you for the opportunity to film these moments which were most likely one of the last few public outings for Ms. Leachman, the Grand Dame of comedy.

Cloris has a mind of her own and Dinah is used to her mothers antics. Here she is just intent on rattling Leonard Maltin who can sure hold his own.
Cloris Leachman was a "Method"-trained actress who appeared in some acclaimed and/or popular productions in film and on television. Unfortunately, Leachman did not know how to avoid overexposure, would appear on practically any reality television show that would have her (which were many, unfortunately) and say anything (so long as it conformed to left-wing Hollyweird political correctness) she assumed would have shock value.
But an 80 or 90 years old woman lifting up her dress in public, allowing herself to be dragged around a stage and try to pass such off off as "dancing," or calling other women a "slut" in multiple interviews is nether humorous nor tasteful, only boring and vulgar.
Thank goodness Cloris Leachman was fired from the television series "Lassie" in 1958 and the producer (Jack Wrather) hired another actress for the role of "Ruth Martin"--June Lockhart, an actress who knew more about restraint and good taste than Cloris Leachman ever did.
