You will not regret it either. Well worth the investment. You will love the way your Jeep steers. No more sloppy steering. One of the best upgrades I made on my jeep to this day! Glad the video helped. JD.
Did you get a new steering box pump or are you running the factory pump as well I'm about to put a new PSC steering box on my1982 cj8 with the factory pump hopefully it's sufficient enough
@@MrFivepointfivesix I personally have not YET. I am currently ripping out the engine and rehabbing the engine compartment but I wanted to get this PSC steering box for over a year. I will get the pump eventually. The steering box was expensive so gotta save my cash for the next items. lol.
If you ever want a cj to drive nice you need a couple important things. 1 you need a Trac bar in the exact same angle as the draglink 2 you needs 7-8° of caster angle. 3 you need a steering box brace to hold the lower output shaft area of the box from walking side to side 4 you need a HD steering box mount ,not the cheap jeep sheet metal 2 piece stuff. Those things will get just about any jeep driving down the road without having to babysit it as you pray driving. God bless
Great work 💯 on your Jeep it looks really good 😎👍, I seen too many of these were people just practically butchered them up trying to do their own fixes🙄
Just an overall lack of power w the 258. I either had to pull it and rebuild it or replace it and I didn’t want to put money into that 258 as I never thought I would be happy w the power. Now w 357 horsepower and 4.10 gears it’s got plenty of power. I put in the 4.10s w the 258 and still wasn’t happy with it. Other than that I also thought it would be fun and a great learning experience!!! Jd
I also changed the wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rod and drag link in addition to the gear box. I did all those things before I changed the gear box and they didn't help much with the loose steering. The only thing that fixed it was the PSC gear box. You can call them at PSC or go to their website directly. A lot of other retailers sell them as well. Good luck. Keep that CJ8 on the road! Not many of them out there anymore. JD
I bought it directly from psc and it was advertised as a direct fit for a cj. It may fit other models but I’m not sure. Give psc a call if you want to. Great people to do business with. They can probably be of more help. Thanks for the comment. JD.
I just bought a PSC steering box after watching this video many times. I can't wait to install it on my 1984 CJ8.

I changed all my tie rods, ball joints etc but the upgrade that made the most difference was the PSC Steering box. No issues since. JD

Awesome! You will not regret it! Let me know how you like it. JD
The PSC steering box, was it universal or was it a direct fit?
