bro this is so good. i love it SO much how it is lore accurate, including not making the common mistakes. at 1:26 i know miquella is talking about messmers situation as people *think* that messmer is doing this selfishly but it is actually marika (his mother) telling him to do this as revenge bc of the stuff she saw (mayby was done to her too) as a shaman.
also one of the lyrics being like "when this omen fell, i seized it" means the ppl writing this listend to the mogh's follower saying that the dead body was stolen by miquella/his crew which is real attention to detail. some people say that rahdan is somehow in the body of mogh but idk.
@@CashOut670 Spoilers... Miquella charmed Mohg and forced him to bring him back to his palace. He abandoned his flesh and went to the land of shadows. When we killed Mogh, he had his followers steal his body, and then he placed the soul of Radahn (which evidence points to also being unwilling) into Mohg's body as his "promised consort." When we fight Radahn again, you can see that he has omen horns on parts of his body, and he occasionally uses some of Mohg's bloodflame. It is theorized that he sent his sister to weaken Radahn or kill him for him to be able to take his soul.
Marika's Only Order to messmer was to destroy all those without Grace Messmer could not understand or Believe we a tarnished who was spurned by the grace of gold given back Grace and tasked to become elden lord Messmer Realized marika had Left him there to fight indefinitely As he had no grace But marika could not kill her children (As we saw with morgott and mogh)

Anyways, there's something else about this one, that i can't quite explain. It's not loud and glorious, neither it's a sorrow-filled lament. It's just... Beautiful, in it's own twisted way.
"Of kindness I myself divest" is such a rich lyric and so well-sung, it just makes me shiver each time. This is truly a fantastic topper to a game that's inspired so much amazing music, well done all who worked on this.
Considering Undead Lullaby is my favorite song from y’all, I gotta say, this is scratching the same itch. Makes sense, since they’re both about Souls games, but… Man, I feel like a kid again. Thanks y’all 🫶
"To revile what has horns, you deny something more, cause a blight can be brandished like any sword" 2:34 Hella smooth,i'm surprised nobodies commented on this part yet-
i've never even played a souls like but i got chills running down my spine from this song. the songs got a kind of low paced tone to it but its not sorrow or sadness but the silent words of someone that makes your deepest fears come to realty just haunt you. thats the vibe i get from this song
And that is perfect. To quote a line from the game "Miquella the Kind.... is a monster. Pure and radiant, he wields love to shrive clean the hearts of men... there is nothing more terrifying."
there's very few instances where we are a pawn for anything that could be considered good and even rarer when we have the chance to defeat the person that uses us as pawns all while stopping someone who was starting to try to do the same
What I really didn't expect was to learn Marika was a human before, attaining grace and semi godhood through the teachings of Metyr and the fingers before Metyr somehow broke and stopped receiving the radio signals from the greater will. While it's true Marika is a monster, I think she's a tragic villain in her own way as a blind devotee of the greater will going more and more crazy into building the golden order while not hearing anymore from her god. A zealot listening to silence, doing more and more monstrous things in the hope of hearing the greater will words once more.
3:17 Justice for St. Trina. She didn’t deserve to be literally thrown off a cliff into an underground sea with a graveyard where she suffered blood-loss from being ripped off from Miquella.
Lyrics: Timeless sleep, where I lie dreaming Shadows steeped in nightmares stir Tarnished weep, with hearts ungleaming Bend thy knee, or my wrath incur Blighted sheep, the light deceives thee Darkness, become thy shepherd I keep my brother, thrall beneath me Call upon an age to break my curse O kindred Of mine, thy wings are wilted Like falling leaves From rotting trees How long we've been afflicted 'Twas my blood I drew to water the roots Of a sapling, that has yet to grow Misshapen and putrid, forsaken this crucible I will remake as my own Of kindness I myself divest That I may shrive this heart of flesh Once gilded with grace But no will that was great did I find Now my gold has a holier shine I'm all out of touch Cut off from the fingers - I won't need 'em much No forcing my hand, cuz I will not budge So I'm forging a plan, the iron is struck In the fires of my mother's vengeance, the void May tangle with light but my might's unalloyed What's in your mind is mine to create For I can design a will that is great My needle entwining tethers of fate Yet severs the gods outside of my grace If you have not felt it Then I shall compel you to see Rise from your Lifeless sleep, with eyes agleaming I shall reap a gentler world Tarnished, leap with faith unyielding Bend thy knee, embrace my curse O sister I've sworn to save our kind I'm splintered (Now twinless) I miss her (So distant) No more a saint am I What's broken, I'll fix with The hope you've been gifted So you'll hold true to my vision Even if this halo's your prison To revile what has horns You deny something more Cuz a blight can be brandished Like any sword When this omen fell - I seized it So that no one else could read it I seethe with love, my weapon - fearsome Keep it sharp, and wield it well Equal are we all to become One for all, thy souls shall meld I severed the line that led to the grave Now look in the light, how blinding your faith We're leaving behind regression - a state That will deny, ascension awaits I pour, from my blood, coursing Torrents of love unto thee Rise from your Lifeless sleep, with eyes gleaming I shall reap a gentler world Tarnished leap with faith unyielding Bend thy knee, embrace my curse (Insert snazzy "Shed No Grace on Me" lick)
I don't know anything about the lore but it feels like the song does a great job at explaining it. I get it: this guy thinks himself a benevolent dictator who is tasked with saving what remains of his people. Whoever came up with the guitar parts, it's one of my favourite/most satisfying parts of the music.
That's is basically 100% accurate. Now just tack on the fact that he's a god who was one of the chosen to carry on his mother's legacy which is why everyone is dying, and that he'll do anything to achieve it.
The fact that in "Shed no grace on me," the tarnished said "a question rooted in runes in which that we can't read," and now Miquella is saying "when this omen fell I seized it, so that no one else could read it" circles back super-fragilistic-expialidociously.
Could you tell me where this “Shed no Grace” part is cause I have watched the lyrics of this song over and over again trying to find it and I have come up nothin
In the song, "shed no grace on me" by jt music at 2:18, in this one 2:43, "shed no grace on me" isn't a line in this song it's the name of the previous Elden Ring song by JT.
Any child that heeds this tale are destined to do great deeds. Ah, but, great good, or great evil? Only time will tell. _And even then, it's like lines in the sand, never absolute, always subject to change..._ Anyways, tl:dr: Never had a lullaby been this fire.
It reminds me of Undead Lullaby mixed with Shed No Grace On Me It's so gentle but to sure of itself. I imagine some like- ballerina dancing due to the music box-like undertones but then it slowly emerges as a grotesque and distorted figure. This is absolutely hitting the playlist as soon as it releases on Spotify. Fucking banger.
Trust me... I finally went in, and I'm at 50h now. It's a fucking good game. It'll be a bit hard and salty at first, but past the first couple of bosses, it'll grow on you. Now I'm nearing the end of the base game and I feel like a menace ! It's glorious.
EASILY your best song ever, at least out of all the ones I've heard. There's something about Elden Ring that seems to inspire all the gaming song-writers to produce their best work ever. You, Miracle of Sound, and Aviators all got some of your best work out of this game
This is chilling. How simple it is. I know you guys are known for making unique music that never sounds like the last, but this is so cold but warm. I really can’t think of what to say about it, it’s just more scary than any of your other music. That’s a crazy thing to do with this dlc because there are songs devoted to horror games, bangers btw, but this is the most unnerving
I love how miquella sounds like the (hero) in this song up until he discards st trina his "love"(no more a saint am i) and right before that he sounds apologetic and after that straight up evil
I love the fact that when the DLC came out everything seemed more stronger and darker. This song does represent the mystery of Messmer and also how twisted he can be while showing he is royalty. Amazing work JT Music =D
Messmer is also not that twisted as he seems. Most of what he did he did at the behest of Marika. He even freely accepts hatred and sorrow from both his men and enemies onto himself alone. From description of his armor: "Messmer made himself a symbol of fear, undertaking the cleansing crusade she desired. "Direct thy maledictions, thine ire, and thy grief towards me alone."
Damn, this is fire as hell! Love the villain Miquella in SotE, and you guys have captured that (and the fact that he doesn't see himself as a villain) perfectly.
Oh wow, this has got to be one of your best yet lads. The slow build up, the vocal flow, the subtle shift from innocent to sinister in the lyrics… You’ve perfectly captured the way Miquella’s story was revealed to us from base game to DLC. Instant favourite.
“Rise from your / Lifeless sleep, with eyes agleaming…” Since our character can start with a Bewitching Branch, there’s a valid interpretation that even the lowliest of Tarnished was marked and accounted for. Miquella saw something in us from the very beginning.
This song really shows the portrayal that Miquella doesn’t realize his crimes. He thinks not of the consequences, just of the end goal. Also I believe the song references the Tarnished, not Radahn with the words “Rise from your lifeless sleep, with eyes agleaming.” Referencing the Grace of gold that once guided the tarnished, now guided by the light of Miquella.
They are 2 different beings Miquella the Kindly Is not Miquella of unalloyed gold Miquella the fundimentalist Or even miquella of the haligtree Miquella the kind abandoned his Love Aka his fate aka St trina He was going to simply force all those who could be controlled and erase those that would not like us And mogh And Malenia Basically people who represent or Are A Different Order Miquella the kind through Away st trina to the bottom of the fissure Becuase he made sure she could rise up and Stop him All the other things of him are Above world
It amuses me that despite not generally knowing much about these souls games, they put a lot of real good lore into the songs they make about them. This one is especially nice to my lore loving self
In all the cimes of Miquella, controlling Mogh, binding Radahn, abandoning Malenia and Trina, I am reminded of a line from a long while ago. "No matter how pretty, how exquisite, a lie will remain A LIE." The 'Kind' promises a world free of hate, lead by compassion yet has abandoned everything to do with it. His sister left to rot, of his brothers two were controlled and the attempt to save the other was abandoned, his other half left at the bottom of the fissure with only putrefied remains for comfort. My lord of Frenzy needed very little convincing. "I abandon here my Love" was when the Kind became a target.
Love this song cause it seems like a twisted enchantment, as if it never stays the same. Also, love the strings at the credits part reminiscent of the JT’s other Elden ring song “shed no grace on me”.
You can tell what games they really feel passionate about and love making songs for. I love all of the dark souls and bioshock songs because they have so much passion put into them.
I have probably listened to this more than 100 times by now, and its only been 8 days!! Sooooo good. The tone, and the silent whisper of lyrics into full blown Ol English rhymes
YOOOOOOOO THIS SLAPPS I genuinely thought it was gonna be a Messmer song from the first few lines, and then it hit that it's for Miquella and i was like "*OH-*" it felt really cool (even if i am now a bit sad it Isn't a Messmer song HGFVG) i absolutely love the way this was done though, the vocal work is amazing (god that range of style!! always dope as fuck to see that get flexed) and the fact the instrumental has this almost warped lullaby vibe??? oh my god??? it's so fucking cool that's so clever and i love how that bit that's like "i'm splintered (now twinless)/i miss her (so distant)/*no more a saint am i*" can refer to either Malenia *or* St. Trina that's so well done, just like how "rise from your lifeless sleep/with eyes agleaming" feels like it can refer to Radahn OR the Tarnished, Or!! how "cut off from the fingers/i won't need 'em much" earlier can go for both the two/three fingers themselves And the fact Miq is literally leaving pieces of himself strewn around and then the littler stuff in the lyrics!!!! like "torrents of love" nudging at Torrent's connection to Miquella, the lines referencing wordings and such from the trailers, "when this omen fell/i seized it" easily referring to Mohg, but then being re-contextualized into the prophecy meaning of "omen" with the next line!! seriously y'all were doing great shit with the lyrics holy shit
Bloody Hell, JT Music really has come a long way. The fact that it sounds like they are singing the rap instead of rapping it like the modern raps you hear nowadays is amazing. Their voices have gotten better as well as they sound more powerful. Keep up the good work boys!
Bro this is amazing. I listen to this in the dark with my eyes either close or watching the video. This just hits all the marks for a list I didn't know I had. Keep this up mate, I need more goosebumps.
Honestly, this is your masterpiece. I keep coming back to this song, it's structure is exquisite and alluring! I just can't get enough of those smooth lines and beautiful composition layers! Cheers!
This song reminded me of something…random thought do you think Miquella could partially be inspired by the biblical devil? Lucifer is referenced as the most beautiful angel before he fell, and took so many with him. Miquella uses love as a weapon to make others into thralls to serve him, and his idea of a gentler world (from what little hints we are given, he plans to steal away free will.). The idea that Miquella is partially inspired by Lucifer is very interesting to me, and the way he discards St.Trina is similar to how Lucifer falls, other similarities include how both are popular, seen as beautiful, kind and charming, Lucifer using this to lead others to his side, same as Miquella, and then Lucifer falls, and Miquella tears himself apart (St.Trina) and both see themselves as a better god than the current one (as Miquella references you as the would be lord of the old order, rejecting the idea of Marika remaining as a god, by calling her order old, implying a new order to take its place, his order.)
If there is one good thing I'm thankful for this DLC, it's the coming of this song. I cannot express how perfect it is. I'm not expert, so please don't mind my description, but the way it feels to me it's like a nursery rhyme, akin to Miquella's infant curse, but the melody it's unsettling, almost creepy. "Pure and radiant, he wields love to shrive clean the hearts of men. There is nothing more terrifying." This song is the embodiment of this sentence. Miquella is indeed kind, but a monster all the same. This song matches the greatness of his character. Thank you, JT Music. Thank you very much for this song. It's even more amazing when you have given us "Shed No Grace on Me", which perfectly fits as a response from our Tarnished. Ah, man, I love this.
Such a sinister tune for one who would appear so innocent. I love that everything about this song, from the name to the thumbnail, would make one think of Messmer- Until they actually play the game. Then they KNOW whose song this is.
"Timeless sleep where I lie dreamingShadows steeped in nightmares stir Tarnished weep with hearts ungleaming Bend thy knee or my wrath incur Blighted sheep, the light deceives theeDarkness become thy shepherd I'll keep my brother thrall beneath me Call upon an age to break my curse Oh, kindred of mine, thy wings are wilted Like falling leaves from rotting trees How long we've been afflicted?" was already insane

bro this is so good. i love it SO much how it is lore accurate, including not making the common mistakes. at 1:26 i know miquella is talking about messmers situation as people *think* that messmer is doing this selfishly but it is actually marika (his mother) telling him to do this as revenge bc of the stuff she saw (mayby was done to her too) as a shaman.
also one of the lyrics being like "when this omen fell, i seized it" means the ppl writing this listend to the mogh's follower saying that the dead body was stolen by miquella/his crew which is real attention to detail. some people say that rahdan is somehow in the body of mogh but idk.
Marika's Only Order to messmer was to destroy all those without Grace

Considering Undead Lullaby is my favorite song from y’all, I gotta say, this is scratching the same itch. Makes sense, since they’re both about Souls games, but… Man, I feel like a kid again. Thanks y’all 🫶
Gods, that voice has no right to be so soothing and imposing at the same time... This song does Miquella justice. What an absolute masterpiece.

Was there a big titty police girl
there's very few instances where we are a pawn for anything that could be considered good and even rarer when we have the chance to defeat the person that uses us as pawns all while stopping someone who was starting to try to do the same
What I really didn't expect was to learn Marika was a human before, attaining grace and semi godhood through the teachings of Metyr and the fingers before Metyr somehow broke and stopped receiving the radio signals from the greater will. While it's true Marika is a monster, I think she's a tragic villain in her own way as a blind devotee of the greater will going more and more crazy into building the golden order while not hearing anymore from her god. A zealot listening to silence, doing more and more monstrous things in the hope of hearing the greater will words once more.

Lyrics:
Timeless sleep, where I lie dreaming
Shadows steeped in nightmares stir
Tarnished weep, with hearts ungleaming
Bend thy knee, or my wrath incur
Blighted sheep, the light deceives thee
Darkness, become thy shepherd
I keep my brother, thrall beneath me
Call upon an age to break my curse
O kindred
Of mine, thy wings are wilted
Like falling leaves
From rotting trees
How long we've been afflicted
'Twas my blood I drew to water the roots
Of a sapling, that has yet to grow
Misshapen and putrid, forsaken this crucible
I will remake as my own
Of kindness I myself divest
That I may shrive this heart of flesh
Once gilded with grace
But no will that was great did I find
Now my gold has a holier shine
I'm all out of touch
Cut off from the fingers - I won't need 'em much
No forcing my hand, cuz I will not budge
So I'm forging a plan, the iron is struck
In the fires of my mother's vengeance, the void
May tangle with light but my might's unalloyed
What's in your mind is mine to create
For I can design a will that is great
My needle entwining tethers of fate
Yet severs the gods outside of my grace
If you have not felt it
Then I shall compel you to see
Rise from your
Lifeless sleep, with eyes agleaming
I shall reap a gentler world
Tarnished, leap with faith unyielding
Bend thy knee, embrace my curse
O sister
I've sworn to save our kind
I'm splintered (Now twinless)
I miss her (So distant)
No more a saint am I
What's broken, I'll fix with
The hope you've been gifted
So you'll hold true to my vision
Even if this halo's your prison
To revile what has horns
You deny something more
Cuz a blight can be brandished
Like any sword
When this omen fell - I seized it
So that no one else could read it
I seethe with love, my weapon - fearsome
Keep it sharp, and wield it well
Equal are we all to become
One for all, thy souls shall meld
I severed the line that led to the grave
Now look in the light, how blinding your faith
We're leaving behind regression - a state
That will deny, ascension awaits
I pour, from my blood, coursing
Torrents of love unto thee
Rise from your
Lifeless sleep, with eyes gleaming
I shall reap a gentler world
Tarnished leap with faith unyielding
Bend thy knee, embrace my curse
(Insert snazzy "Shed No Grace on Me" lick)
I knew I heard "Shed No Grace On Me" at the end!
this is a lot calmer than the other elden raps
I do love how it is much calmer yet SO MUCH more menacing with the lyrics and music, especially if you know the lore.
Calmly terrifying, just like Miquella
I don't know anything about the lore but it feels like the song does a great job at explaining it. I get it: this guy thinks himself a benevolent dictator who is tasked with saving what remains of his people. Whoever came up with the guitar parts, it's one of my favourite/most satisfying parts of the music.
That's is basically 100% accurate. Now just tack on the fact that he's a god who was one of the chosen to carry on his mother's legacy which is why everyone is dying, and that he'll do anything to achieve it.
Miquella: "Bend thy knee, EMBRACE MY CURSE-"
*the opening bars of "Shed No Grace On Me" start playing*
Tarnished: "...no."
The fact that in "Shed no grace on me," the tarnished said "a question rooted in runes in which that we can't read," and now Miquella is saying "when this omen fell I seized it, so that no one else could read it" circles back super-fragilistic-expialidociously.

This is arguably JT Music's best Soulsborne song since 'Undead Lullaby.'
Beautiful work and vocals.
I love the fact that when the DLC came out everything seemed more stronger and darker. This song does represent the mystery of Messmer and also how twisted he can be while showing he is royalty. Amazing work JT Music =D
And Miquella
This song is actually from the perspective of miquella
It's not Messmer the scapegoat who sings but Miquella the 'Kind', the monster who wields love as weapons and people as tools.
shoot, I completely forgotten about Miquella sorry XD
Messmer is also not that twisted as he seems. Most of what he did he did at the behest of Marika.
He even freely accepts hatred and sorrow from both his men and enemies onto himself alone. From description of his armor:
"Messmer made himself a symbol of fear, undertaking the cleansing crusade she desired.

The slow build up, the vocal flow, the subtle shift from innocent to sinister in the lyrics…
You’ve perfectly captured the way Miquella’s story was revealed to us from base game to DLC. Instant favourite.
“Rise from your / Lifeless sleep, with eyes agleaming…”
Since our character can start with a Bewitching Branch, there’s a valid interpretation that even the lowliest of Tarnished was marked and accounted for. Miquella saw something in us from the very beginning.
Godrick commanded US to kneel. Miquella never asked, but expected all to yield control to him.
Even that last part has direct lore precedence: Miquella earned Leda’s loyalty by personally restoring her Grace.

Miquella of unalloyed gold
Miquella the fundimentalist
Or even miquella of the haligtree
Miquella the kind abandoned his Love Aka his fate aka St trina
He was going to simply force all those who could be controlled and erase those that would not like us
And mogh
And Malenia
Basically people who represent or Are A Different Order
Miquella the kind through Away st trina to the bottom of the fissure
Becuase he made sure she could rise up and Stop him
All the other things of him are Above world
It amuses me that despite not generally knowing much about these souls games, they put a lot of real good lore into the songs they make about them. This one is especially nice to my lore loving self
I love how the song reflects Miquella's character so well: hauntingly beautiful, alluringly twisted.
"I abandon here my Love" was when the Kind became a target.

and then the littler stuff in the lyrics!!!! like "torrents of love" nudging at Torrent's connection to Miquella, the lines referencing wordings and such from the trailers, "when this omen fell/i seized it" easily referring to Mohg, but then being re-contextualized into the prophecy meaning of "omen" with the next line!! seriously y'all were doing great shit with the lyrics holy shit
