just an FYI from experience . dont use this method on the older scalextric bodies . tried to strip an old C052 (ebay find) escort . the ISO removed the paint no problem but it resulted with a soft ( rubber feeling ) shrunken and distorted unusable body i had to discard . not sure if a reaction with the paint contributed but i doubt it . i also cannot say when scalextric changed the composition of the plastic in their bodies . obviously the newer compound is fine as shown here
I wonder if it would work even better in an ultrasonic bath. My ultrasonic bath is currently full of 3D resin dissolved bio ethanol but I have used isopropyl alcohol to do 3D resin print cleaning.
