- Varathron played at Darkness Guides Us fest in Glasgow in November 2019. Jerry had the pleasure to talk with these guys from the band in an underground tunnel. Unfortuntely, the hand mic busted us and thus the sound quality is frakked. We hope you can enjoy the interview despite of this malfunction.

If Rauta could be transferred to a zine I can imagine it raw Xerox print like in the old days, the sound of street noises and passionate talking brings me that feeling... Favourite album of Varathron is for me Walpurgisnacht, I remember when I was hiking to the birth place of Zeus in Crete in the mountains, pure romantic Hellenic metal majesty.

varathron is dark, epic, majestic and brutal, i don't say black metal, they have a mix of black, death, orchestra music, thanks for this my friend great interview. his majesty at the swamp my favorite album.

Great interview(er) and band, still listen to Walpurgisnacht and his majesty at the swamp since many years. They are the masters in hellenic black metal together with rotting Christ and Necromantia ! Respect that they are still strong and for releasing superb albums!

@@RautaMetal yeah definitely sucks when that happens but at least it's mostly audible
for question in 13:00 because the black metal scene and generally rock/metal scene in Greece it has a very high percentage of left/far left ideologies.So to talk about ancient Greece is regarded right or even nationalistic as such they prefer to talk about occult satan as a reaction to christianity which is the majority religion in Greece ex Rotting Christ. But as you can notice the antichristianity is in the form of anticatholicism.

I do write for imperiumi.net (website) and Inferno these days, but only reviews and occasional gig/festival reports. I used to write interviews, too, for Imperiumi, Inferno and my own webzine Inquisitionist a few years ago, and I used to have my own opinion & phenomena metal blog called Metalpit.
I would never have imagined seeing Stefan doing a video interview. Since he always answers interviews in capital letters I expected him to scream all the time though, haha
That tells maybe more about the zines (and the lack of editing thereof) than about the person answering. Stefan is a very friendly and calm person. A real gentleman based on my encounter with him. I hope more people get to meet him!
@@RautaMetalJust kidding, I only mean because capital letters always look like talking loud. It´s his personal note. I think Stefan always seemed very down to earth and I appreciate how he still cares about the current scene. A living legend, wish more old bands would have this attitude.

Great interviews but dude you really need to do something about the horrible audio of some of these videos, I can hardly hear what is being said besides a lot of hiss. Same thing with the Archgoat interview, you can hardly hear a damn word due to all the wind blowing into the shitty cell cam mic or whatever these are being filmed on.

Archgoat was a different case: back then it was the second time for my camera guy to do an interview on video and he had forgotten the wind cover for the mic.

None of the videos have been done on cell cams but real cameras.
Great interview with oldschoolers. Next time make sure we hear them properly.
Sure. As I wrote there, we couldn't predict my mic dying on me in the beginning.

Great band, too bad I couldn't hear a word they said.
Unfortunately the mic didn't work, so we had to improvise. With better speakers & headphones you can actually hear what they say. I could even though I used some cheapish computer speakers.
