Amazing Indoor-Outdoor Architecture Near Venice Beach

  • In designing a home for one of Venice’s typically long and narrow lots, Ehrlich recalled lessons he’d learned from the local architecture of Nigeria and the courtyard layout of houses in the medinas in Morocco. He calls his approach “multicultural modernism.” The result is a house that takes advantage of the climate and that uses natural systems and technology to boost the home’s efficiency.

    I've heard the phrase "lifestyle porn" before. Didn't know what it meant until now. Wow! What a beautiful home and the couple just seem so amazing and thoughtful. I am trying to get ideas for what I want my home to look like. This is an amazing video!

    how much time and effort does it take to locate all those beautiful pieces of furniture and Ornaments? it's like they complement the house and each over but are very unique in thier own right. I know damn well you can't get that type of furniture in ikea

    • @aihashimoto4784
      @aihashimoto4784 7 років тому +6

      I was thinking the same, it's an amazing home. It has to be all of the travels, experiences, and people they have met that led them to having the ornaments over the course of so many years! Every single piece very much speaks it's own story

    • @laliday
      @laliday 7 років тому +4

      That's how beautiful houses are made. It takes years of travel, change, improvement. And it takes investment in beautiful pieces and art, one at the time. You could perhaps find some cheaper wall hangings when you travel, but you won't typically find them in a hotel store . You have to move outside and look for local artists and crafts men.

    I think houzz should show more of the house with their voice over. so we get to see more of the house. my fav thing about the house is the octogenarian tree and least favourite was the glass bridge, not really comfortable when u r wearing skirt and people are below. great that he didnt use paint

      I didn't go for architecture because of my high school mentor who said there is no good living in architecture because the Chicago market is over saturated. As much as like what I do, this is the biggest regret of my life. If you have passion and determination for what you do, you'll enjoy it and you'll find a way to make it work.

    I met him once when he was giving a lecture in Melbourne Uni. Nice person who emphasise on material honesty and a true believer in the courtyard house. I even had him signed my copy of his book. I always use this house as an example of composition of elements of design.

    I love the indoor/outdoor elements. I think it would be neat to use conex containers to create a house with courtyards and different pods somewhat like this. We have so many of those shipping containers sitting around, it would definitely be environmentally friendly.

    Amazing! 🤭🧐🙂 plaster walls sealed with wax, the outside wall materials, the composition of the block ! 👌🏽
    I love the little details like the text on the glass door frame and on the bottom of the stairs!
    Love the pods...I’ve lived in loft spaces and sometimes it’s just grounding to have a sub-space with a door you can close as well. Love the color palette. Rich and warm and balanced so as not to be in-your-face like.
    See...I would move back to LA just to be able to live that connected to that kind of nature. Alas! 🙂
