When I learned more about the lore of Dishonored, I really do to some extent think the rat plague has some sort of supernatural element to it due to it being from pandyssia. I also replayed DS1 recently and man, It genuinely feels like the city is on the absolute brink. Child me never really understood the scenery and what was going on, but now with a more mature perspective this is probably the most devastating depiction a plague has ever been in a game
