- A newborn cuckoo's instinct is to remove from its adopted nest any of the warbler's eggs. But more sinister is cuckoo's removal of the warbler's own newborn chick. It's amazing how some birds like crows, owls, parrots are so smart they can solve puzzles and even some math problems, while there are birds that are so dumb that they literally can see their egg fall off, pushed by another chick and their reaction was like " . . . ".
I was just reading that current studies show that the cuckoo mom will come back and check occasionally and if the foster mom isn't taking care of the chick, the cuckoo will destroy the nest and all the eggs, so the foster bird 'know better'. It's called the Mafia Theory.
@@cameronstarkel5629 cuckoo rarely ever comes back for their chicks they dont care for their babies only cuckoo that does that is the cowbird which is a species of cuckoo other than them no other cuckoo comes back
Moms, if one of your twins is unusually big and throws the other one out of the crib, you may want to get a paternity test...
A maternity test in this case lol
DNA test most appropriate
Jajaja!
AND maternity test.
He would get a good whacking from me !
I like the video where the cuckoo hatches first and then a snake comes along and eats it. Talk about poetic justice in nature lol.
It's just more nature, the snake ate the other hatchlings too
@@PepeGR5 if it’s the video I think they’re talking about, no. The other eggs hadn’t hatched as of yet and the snake left them alone due to the size of the cuckoo.
" cuckoo gets what it deserves" for anyone that wants to search up the video name.
@@gaveintothedarkness a dumb title for an interesting of video plagued with dumber comments
Just saw it on Reddit
Even as a hatchling, it's murderous intention is so remarkable even in the animal kingdom.
you’re a Dum Azz… it just wants some space. It’s not intending to murder… did it peck the eyes out of the other bird? No… Did it clamp down if the other birds throat? No… he just pushed the bird out and said go enjoy the water like a duck.
Imagine being born and already you're an jerk. That is the Cuckoo chick in a nutshell.
wrgg
Is this why my window update is stuck on 52% 😂
This is why they used the Aztec wings on the airplane after to hide the moss balls 😂
So where did the turtle go
And they say that no one is born a murderer... Yeah right!
😂
Loool
That bird probably has a whole chromosome dedicated to killings. From murder to galactic domination.
Good thing I don't believe everything people say.
I don't like it either but nature has no law
i ain’t never prayed for a bird’s downfall until when this one started rocking on the edge 1:36

Was hoping the little fucker would fall. Karma missed it
too bad it grab the nest so firmly 🤣
I see why ppl hate these birds lol
If I was the bird I would had push it lol
It's just so frustrating that the foster parents don't do SHIT about it lol
They can't. If they retaliate or something, the cuckoo real parents will come and destroy all their still viable eggs and babies. This is their adaptation

Some sources also say that if the host bird destroys the egg the parasite bird will come back to the nest and destroy the host bird's eggs.
"
@@TheCandiceWang nah you dont know shit
@@gimmekromer1151 no there right the foster parents are held at gunpoint pretty much
@@foxeh9238 yeah, which is sad honestly
This is not the case if the cuckoo egg is recognized. Some species of bird recognize the cuckoo egg and will remove it, thus saving their clutch of eggs from a cuckoo chick. Cuckoos, contrary to popular belief, do not come back to do anything about whether the parents remove or destroy the egg. This has not been documented to happen, once laid, the egg is at the mercy of the parents it was left at.
Cuckoo chick pushes egg out of the nest in front of the parent
Reed Warbler: huh, that was weird.
hahahaha smh
Got to remember birds have instinct not intelligence.
Huh, what was that!?
...must have been nothing..
" thats suspisious!!"
"aww you must be hungry from all that exercise and murder here is some food"
This is about the time a seagull would come in handy.
Nice one
Brother, why are you doing that?
I'm not your brother.
:O
I still find it so crazy that only the cuckoo knows to do this and no other birds do.
Cuckoos aren't the only birds that do this. Brood Parasitism is found in a variety of birds as well as other creatures
I found out it;s not only the cuckoo birds, cowbirds do that too...and they will destroy all eggs if their chick dies.
@@shantakidd6230 I believe Hyenas do the same thing but its not as common as cuckoos though. They kill off their brother or sister to try to get better privileges from their mother
Remember there's different breeds of Cuckoos. There's one type with a hooked beak that will even murder other chicks by hacking them to death!
Cowbirds does this too. Just as Cuckoo birds does.
I was just hoping that damn demon bird would fall with it too.
It's a bird brother, it's not like it actually thinks or something about this shit
I was like " please fall, please fall one more step you can do it " 😅
The instinct to murder so it secure's it's own survival, is unbelievable behaviour at such a young age.
There are sea animals who feast on their own mother after birth this is nothing
André Afonso like what?
And at the same time birds are so stupid they can't tell they're own eggs or species
@@jedsteelwell2354 That's because humans are far smarter than all, and tbh we should be able to make all animals extinct. The Holocene Extinction event is a blessing for the almighty Lord Himself.
@@jedsteelwell2354
Cuckoos have been in an evolutionary arms race with the bird species they take advantage of, for a long, long time! They have evolved to be very secretive, being able to lay eggs (in other birds' nests) in only 10 seconds, and those eggs look remarkably like those of the birds they are fooling, even when the other birds have evolved distinctive patterns on their eggs. Put a different looking egg in the nest, most birds will reject it!
The part which is less well understood, is why many bird species don't seem to recognise the giant cuckoo chick, is not their own! But the cuckoo chick is able to make a sound resembling a whole nest-full chicks, so that the 'parents' bring more food!
(Sorry for the long reply, I just watched a lecture about it!).
Cold blooded killers from birth.
Metal.

Cuckoo bird reminds me as France in Africa, or Little Britain in India 😂
Unbelievable instinct. Even when blind they know that they have to throw the real egg or chick of the host mother so that he can live alone with the foster mother.
This is the real evidence that this is a satanic world. Everything seems to be evil on this earth!! I hate it.
@@andrewbeckford3160 Well, this just proves that there is no "Evil" as we know it. It's all just nature and we interpret it by our norms.
@@andrewbeckford3160 Well, this just proves that there is no "Evil" as we know it. It's all just nature and we interpret it by our norms.
It's actually really simple. Their backs are really sensitive, so when they sense an object brushing up against it their immediate instinct is to push it away and get rid of the discomfort.
I don't think they 'know' anything that complex. They are just compelled towards behaviours that help them survive. They don't know why they need to be alone in the nest. They just know everything must go.
You know, the cuckoo is just lucky that other birds are so stupid.
I've been on a cuckoo video watching spree. This behavior amazes me.
I have been watching cuckoo videos for about three hours now , its really a strange amazing behavior
mee too
I'm just hoping to find a video where the little fucker gets tossed out the nest
The camera man watching be like: 🥲📸
So from birth, it starts off as an imposter and a mass murderer. Hmmm,...there's a movie script in here somewhere, I just know it.....
Watch Vivarium! It has the concept of parasitic behavior of a cuckoo and even the beginning shots are the ones of cuckoo chicks in nests being fed. It's an amazing, really bizzare movie.
@@FrostySparks I’m watching that right now! I’ve been seeing a lot about cuckoo’s lately and had to learn more. That movie is really weird but definitely worth a watch. Read Cuckoo’s Calling! It’s by J.K. Rowling but I think she uses a pseudonym
There is a recent horror movie cuckoo. I didn't watch it but interesting premise
@FrostySparks oh yeah I actually didn't catch the cuckoo reference the first time I watched it but it is an interesting movie. I didn't love it but I'm glad I watched it and I'm glad the filmmaker tried something interesting. I'll take that any day
That is so unbelievable I’m blown away
Are we just gonna ignore the fact that the mom just SAW the baby booty-bump that egg outta the nest? She really was watching that chick like "My baby is a little wierd but i love him anyway"
Millions of years, folks. This behavior evolved millions of years ago. It's not "evil" and it's not "malicious" It's nature.
it's worth remembering that there are no morals in nature, everything is just what it is. Morality is a social construct formed by humans.
If there are no morals in nature, then there are no morals in human society, because humans are natural creatures. Morality would have to be simply "what is". But basically nobody who is on your side of this issue actually believes that.
That is incredible but morbid. I had no idea day old baby birds could do that
I get that this is all instinct and they have to do this to survive, but the behavior of these birds really infuriates me.
DUDE! This is exactly how I feel. I can’t even begin to tell you how much it actually tilts me to see videos like this. Or how the stork will literally pick up (albeit small) healthy chick and drop them to their deaths. It makes NO sense, especially since people say it’s for survival? My ass, food shortage? Nah, it’s the low intelligence of the bird.
This is a horror show.
what happens if you put two cuckoo eggs in the nest and they hatch at the same time? will both of them force each other out?
Keep watching
+geohansky YES. Because its blind, its instinct is to remove all things from the nest
simon cao So whoever wins the tug of war gets to survive?
Yes. :-D .
+geohansky Excellent question !
the fact that the bird doesn’t seem alarmed at all about the fact that it’s watching the other eggs get thrown out of the nest. is motherhood for birds just one of those things mother birds try so much that losing a chick is THAT ‘Meh’ worthy?
Some birds try to fly after their eggs but there’s nothing they can do
Serpant servant is this why they used the 7 ball pig so the Armstrong grey could be used to cover the sphinx legs at asda?
This chick was hiding in my testicles
birds aren't intelligent, that's why they don't care
That’s where the term “bird brained” came from, there pretty dumb
I was sitting here thinking about how I freaking hate these birds. Their behavior disgusts me. But then I remember… I ate eggs today 😮😅
It does make me wonder: if birds are descendants of dinosaurs, I'm curious if there was a species that did this, too
100%
Most of the dinosaurs did not care for their young.
Holy crap, got past the demon baby spawn evicting the eggs..... then before he tossed the other baby bird out of the nest I cut out. I couldn't stand watching that little bugger any longer lol.
Good job
Yeah it is hard to watch. I just try to remember then The little bird is going completely on instinct and isn't actually intentionally being immoral or duplicitous. But all of that said those subspecies of cuckoos are incredibly hard to like. Just a crazy villain/con man of the animal world. It is worth noting though that most cuckoo species do not pull this nest switcheroo they actually just raise their own kids.
Only a handful of them actually participate in this practice and they all under the same subspecies.
But whatever, this is the species I think we're all fascinated. I will try to find some nest videos of cuckoos of slightly different varieties that do not engage in this.
Curious what kind of parents they are
love these vids ! i love David's commentary
I was hoping that chick will fall out....
That rascal throws everything overboard 👍🏿
Stepsister: What are you doing step bro?
Stepbrother:
Ruins my day every time and yet I can’t stop coming back to this cursed video
The worst part is if you watch a video like this all of a sudden the UA-cam algorithm just puts them all in your feed. I had the unfortunate / fascinating experience of watching a nest full of young chicks get attacked by ants and their parents came back and saved them. But then the algorithm started recommending me videos like that with the parents did not save them and it was unpleasant.
m
incredible footage
Lazy ass bird that won’t even make its own nest and feed it’s young.
I thought the same thing. But then it dawned on me that having to spend numerous weeks feeding and caring for her chicks, she can go right off and lay another egg in another nest, and then a few days later lay another, and so on. Perhaps that’s the evolutionary strategy: to lay as many parasitic eggs as possible during the mating season. Maybe each year she can have dozens of offspring survive to carry on the cuckoo empire in this manner.
Lol Cuckoos aren't lazy, once they grow to maturity they fly hundreds of miles from Europe to Africa.
I hate to know the existence of such a bird
It goes against human nature to like cuckoo behavior. I do not like it either, but isn't it absolutely amazing how such behavior can be genetically coded and become a basic instinct in a newly hatched cuckoo? I do not think this instinct could ever develop on little step at a time. Adult cuckoos actually will return to the nest and puncture the other eggs with their beaks. Cow birds do very similar things to the nest that they lay their eggs in. It is amazing behavior regardless of what we think of it.
Agreed, too many people are criticising an animal's behaviour because it doesn't conform to the social values the humans evolved to have. It is utterly insane to think that this trait evolved incrementally and embedded as an instinct, not learned. These cuckoos have no intended malice towards the other bird species; their urge to do what what they do is as powerful as our urge to breathe air.
God's coding
@@parkinfurkmaz2877 The people who are criticizing the cuckoo (whatever that even means...) are probably watching the video while eating some tasty scrambled eggs or chicken wings... lol.
@@ayyaaaa9533 Sin's coding
@@jeffreardon9052 sure thing. but that's our prey. humans are on top of the food chain, so the fate of this pathetic planet depends on us.
the eggs and chicken wings ppl eat becomes energy for them, God never condemned ppl for eating food. the cuckoo kills the chicks that rightfully belongs to the nest and he don't even eat them or anything, and take advantage from the parents.
dude was just trying to cuddle and gets yeeted out of his own nest
My science teacher makes me watch some scary things and this is one of them-
well if this bird got on the endangered species list I would have no problem it ending lol

why did this video make me so mad though...

They do often fall out too. Just no ones usually taking footage of every single cuckoo chick in a nest

Most evil creature that even in its supposed to be innocence stage, it already has wicked intentions
If you find a nest, and theres a cuckoo bird egg or hatchling in it. Do not try to forcibly remove either, once the cuckoo hatchling dies or is suddenly gone. Its actual mother will come to the nest and destroy it or kill the other bird.
So what your saying is that birds are so stupid they can't tell they're own eggs or own species.
That was some gangster sh*t.
Why did I just want to flick that little bird when he was sitting on the side nest like that 😂
Nature just made a bird and said "now go mess up some of the others"

It's like that movie, "The Bad Seed".
This is beyond imagination
Me: Boi why are parent birds so stupid, if they were actually smart enough to figure out that that cuckoo was ejecting her eggs and that the baby cuckoo was WAY bigger than her, then I would actually have a heart attack
They might eventually learn. In thousands of generations.
The warbler has to be the dumbest bird going. Watching their own eggs being ejected.

seriously??
This is one animal species that needs to go extinct
There’s a similar thing in humans too. Except we use paternity test 😂
In another video, the bird mother recognized he different egg, pecke ata it and threw it away.
There is 1 (one) imposter remaining
Cooko chich stratching muscles
Why doesn't the cameraman save the Falling bird😭
What I want to know is if we keep the cuckoos captive with no other option than raising their children ourselves, will evolution adapt? Will they change their behavior and will the cuckoo moms raise their children? Will this moment disappear?
Perhaps they will extinct
If we do artificial intervention Like that
Same.
Jesus...
That’s why if you Live in the area with cuckoo birds are present that’s why you always keep tabs on bird nest around your area if you see any of them little bastards in any of those Ness snatch it out most the time you can often find their eggs because their eggs are bigger than the other eggs in the nest just simply using a pair of latex gloves grab the egg out of the nest and just smash it somewhere but if you find a cuckoo chick kill it
Savage
This is true, unadulterated horor.
Lost my shit over this in my biology class. Yes I am a terrible person
This is frankly horrifying
I wonder if they actually know... like they aren't dumb nor oblivious. The small birds have a perspective on nature that it is all parts, and sacrificing it's own for the whole is more efficient than wasted effort trying to stomp out a "pest". Are there other symbiotic relationships with both types of birds and other specifies of plants that need to spread seeds? Maybe it doesn't cause alarm, because its a such a rare occurrence and doesn't pose a risk to ending their bloodline. If you need another egg, you just.. make another egg.
Devil bird 🐦
Omg I hate that bird! Instinct to kill at a very young age is unbelievable! Omg.
How do Warblers even survive as a species? They seem to have no defence against the cuckoo. What is to stop Cuckoo moms from laying an egg in every Warbler nest? ☠
If they did that, there'd be no more warbler nests for the cuckoos to lay eggs in. It's in the cuckoos interest that the warbler population survives and continues to build nests for the cuckoos to use.
he wasn't an egg he was alive and blind!!
Why dont the warbler do anything? Their own eggs are being pushed out.
phoonjzc because its a dumb bird specie, they don't have that common sense to tell which one is really theirs
