Oh boy but it was such a chore just to load up a picture (30 seconds to a minute). I had 56k dialup until 99 and I remember getting cable Internet in 2000 and thinking this is amazing but it would be another 10 years before the Internet resembled anything to what we have now. Where everything is pretty much instant and the buffering disappeared for videos, etc.

I remember canceling after the trial and had the confirmation # but I could still use it for like 6 months. They contacted me saying I owed them money and I told them I canceled and gave the confirmation # and told them I wouldn't pay. Never heard a word since.

I miss the days of taking handfuls of those AOL disks from all different stores I used to hang out at as a teenager bending the corners and throwing them like frisbees in the parking lot 😂
when I was younger (I'm 19 now) I remember my older brother's computer he used, for school. I would go up to it, and type into the login field, and the characters would appear on the screen. It was the whole world to me, that I could tell the computer what to do, and it would do it immediately, no questions asked. fast-forward some 10 years and that fascination is stronger than ever. I'm building my own smart wifi lights witches, home assistants, and RC cars. It is something I will never get tired of.
