Alex will always be our founder and we hope he'll be popping in lots too. He has filmed some Gun Fight work and agreed to continue with Sprint 2 so he'll certainly pop up from time to time
It is amazing to see where RMC has gone in terms of growth and expansion! I have fond memories of the older videos and I am amazed at what has happened with the channel, the people and the whole theme! Incredible stuff Neil! You are a driver of note (not a car driver, no reference to the last cabinet!) Huge appreciation for your efforts and those around you.
Coin operated machines was my family's business. We did this all the time. A full video game, the cabinet, the CRT, etc., they were really expensive! We definitely reused everything but the boards if the game was a dud.
This channel is criminally undersubscribed! there are retro channels out there with way more subscribers that don't do even half as much for the community as these guys are doing. Come on people, lets send these guys into the stratosphere so they can keep preserving gaming history for all to enjoy and sharing the very best content.
so great to hear about your updates and development with the collective !! greetings to alex and best wishes for him. big respect for changing course when it doesnt feel right. looking forward to see him again!
I almost shed a tear watching SF2 running on a CRT. Such nice CRT! I have the Capcom Street Fighter Collection and still enjoy very much playing SF2. But it's not the same thing playing on a modern TV (even with those in game filters)
It is a shame that colour e-ink is still quite expensive, else it would be cool if the marquis or even the enitre cabinet would be made with that, and could change according to the game selected.
Lovely to see that the R-Type board I donated a year or so back is now out and playable. Richard's face when he opened the box was quite the picture. I'll have to drop-by and enjoy it again myself. :D Nice work chaps.
How I Miss the Arcade years, was so magical play those games and their mind blowing graphics, Then I had to comeback to my Master System knowing that I was playing a downgraded version of all my favorite games, But still great though :D
I have to wonder, how does the insurance cover work with continuously adding value to the contents through acquisitions and refurbishment? Point being, 100 machines in non working, cig burned, battered condition are of substantially less value than those 100 machines in almost perfect restored condition. By a magnitude. Let’s hope you don’t get an LGR situation where a tree comes in.
It's a good question and part of the reason we are in the middle of a huge inventory drive to get everything photographed, documented and kept up to date.
@@RMCRetro sounds like the kind of database and/or wiki that would be interesting to be public on your website for other restorers, historians and nostalgia
Excited for what you all have in store for us in the future! Those conversions are a 10/10, especially the Ghosts & Goblins, WOW does that cab look awesome! I cannot wait to visit the UK again and come hang out there.
Certainly, somewhere, there are fabric pants that feature the rad 90's patterns of the Super Street Fighter II cabinet at 14:31 Basically the same pants that The Dude wears for most of The Big Lebowski.
Chase HQ would be a great addition, I loved that game back in the day & never really recovered from the bitter disappointment of when I returned home with the C64 (disk version, no less) port, I felt utterly violated.
THANK YOU FOR THE UPDATE ON ALEX YES WHEN IT BECOME NOT ENJOYABLE BECAUSE OF THE STRESS THEN ITS NOT RIGHT THING TO CARRY ON IF YOU ARE NOT ENJOYING THAT SIDE OF IT I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT ALEX WILL LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT YOUR HOUSE WHEN YOU LOVED DOING YOUR HOBBY THAT YOU LOVE THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK THAT YYOU PUT IN YOU ARE A TOPMAN TAKE CARE MATE HOPE TO SEE YOU ON YOUR NEXT VIDEO WELL DONE NEIL AND RICHARD GREAT VIDEO
R-type and street fighter look superb on those crt’s . Do you have Ghouls n’ ghosts in the cave too ? Graphics a work of art and the atmospheric music . Amazing hard work for preservation you’re doing there. Hope all works out for everyone connected ❤
Is anyone else’s first memories of playing Street Fighter 2 on one of these cabinets but only having the 3 punch buttons and no kicks ?. AFAIK Jamma only supports 4 buttons on each side so SF2 needed an add on board called a kick harness to get the other 3 kick buttons (probably where the name came from) which wasn’t an issue if you had an original cabinet, but with Europe being the land of generic cabs and conversion cabs, most of the operators were too cheap or not bothered until the game got popular enough to warrant it.
Really great restoration! im inspired! one thing to note about the later arcade years, around the time of SF2 when it appeared, the cabs were charging a lot more per play than they used to i remember SF2 being a 50p game and the popularity of that was forcing the arcade owners to change the money boxes to 50p per play on other machines which were 10 and 20p play. I grew up near southend on sea, I rarely went and played in an arcade because i just didnt have or could justify spending upwards of 5 -10 quid on games. 10p on the other hand is a fair price for a game that might slaughter you in 5 mins! 50p was not.
Thanks for watching!

Can i please ask what black paint was used for the Street Fighter 2 Cabinet? 13:53
I hope we continue to see Alex involved with the arcade. really liked his presentation style.
Alex will always be our founder and we hope he'll be popping in lots too. He has filmed some Gun Fight work and agreed to continue with Sprint 2 so he'll certainly pop up from time to time
U can find him munchies cakes at his new youtube channel: Al's arcade

That's really kind thank you Carl, I still love it as much if not more than those early days when I started out, it's a wonderful thing!

Thank you Adrian that's very much appreciated

he's also started a new channel - als arcade i think it's called
I love the lime green T-molding on the Ghosts and Goblins cabinet.
I remember playing Chase H.Q. a _lot_ when I was a kid. It would definitely be included in my arcade.
That's a sweet looking Cab! (R-Type)
I almost shed a tear watching SF2 running on a CRT.
Such nice CRT!

There's a tinted acrylic panel between the CRT and the glass bezel, makes a huge difference I think!
15:02 I'm still hanging in there on the Missile Command high score table 😃

Superbly done on all the cabs, Bomb Jack just looks perfect, love it. Keep up all your amazing work and best wishes to you all
When I came last week, I was indeed impressed by those cabs and the state of the marquee & artwork!
Fantastic job, I've played a lot of G&G and SF2 :)
Now that's a subtle pro-tip. Twisting those wires :) 09:38
Driving cab should be outrun.... As Richard says, who needs brakes!
We already have an original Out Run in the arcade 😊

Two of my absolute favourite arcade games in the same place, Ghosts 'n Goblins and Bomb Jack! Awesome! 😄 Good luck with the upcoming changes guys!
The #1 arcade in my fantasy arcade has to be Firefox, the one with the laserdisc. I loved the movie and loved playing it in the arcade.
#2 will be R*Type
Arcade love here! Great Team, great content! I love your work! ❤🕹️
Great work 👍❤️🕹️
Great to see what the auto captions made of Richard's mention of a Naafi (4:06)
For the racing game, maybe GTI Club (1996) as that was always very popular with the Renault 5, Mini, Fiat Uno etc!
For the generic driving cab, I suggest Super Off Road!
"Out Run" maybe for the driving cabinet.
We do have a dedicated Out Run in the arcade, lovely game, and no, I don't use the brake on it :D
bomb jack... best game ever.💣💣💣

Richard is the UK doppelgänger of Jason Bateman!

No arcade but you can play Ghouls n' Ghosts on an NEC SuperGrafx which is a fantastic port
@ holy grail that console ! only a few games I think 5 or so I know of

For the driving cabinet may I suggest Atari Pole Position/Pole position 2 or Taito Continental Circuit.
Tip of the day
The key of upcycling is remembering to powercycle the hardware
Fascinating ! Thankyou!

Used to be a quid for After Burner Deluxe and you were lucky if you lasted 5 seconds 😅
I love the videos, best wishes to Alex❤
IS painting over the melamine working well?
I’m about to build well ghouls and ghosts and maybe willow dynamo replicas
Look forward to seeing them Dave!
Re the Amiga version of SFII, they ported it to the ST as well and it was uttery awful :P
Its weird to me that British people call an individual game an arcade when the word refers to a place
What would you call them? We call the games arcade machines, very literal.
@scottyoung3354 In this video their called arcades and I've heard that before
@@liamconverse8950 Yeah, its an abbreviation of arcade game/machine, they were also referred to as coin ops back in the day.
As said it's an abbreviation of "Arcade Machine" and "Arcade Game"
Chase HQ for the Driving Cab?
I think it's high on my list for sure!
Great idea. +1 for Chase HQ
