Ryan, don't worry if you want to eat meat sometimes, no one will think bad about you. I usually don't eat any meat, but sometimes I allow myself to have a burger or something if I am in town and get hungry. I love when you describe how you season your food and what you like in it. You have some cool restraunts there that some of us don't have so it's cool to know what is good so we can try it sometime also.
Do you guys think it's rude when someone who knows a little bit of sign try to talk to you? If I ever meet a deaf person, id love to say hello, but I dont want to come across as rude or insensitive.
I wouldn't think so. I would think it's sweet to include the deaf community in your life. There's one person that thinks it's rude when I speak Spanish to him even though he doesn't know English. I barely know Spanish though.
I personally don’t think it’s rude with a person knows alittle big sign. P.s I’m deaf. Anyway normally at first would be like confused for a second to see what was a person was saying but after while they will be fine and no one will come as rude or insensitive.
I laughed so much when Ellen was describing the two types of people who try to quit eating meat. Ryan is flexing in the background like "THIS MEAT?! BEHOLD." By the way you both are too attractive I can't handle it.
@@karenperkins3016 Then add sugar and salt to it so that you keep your electrolyte balance in check. Whoa, that’s really nice that someone signed hi to you! & YOU signed back! I’ve said “hi” to so many people in sign language which is basically the same way hearing people do in UK (wave) but no one ever says hi back. Lol.
nawww omg i was so confused about eating brussel sprouts with pho & turns out it was bean sprouts..maybe Ellen should postpone that cooking show HAHAHA you're such a cutie Ellen
I arbitrarily started on Jan 1 to change from Omni to Vegan, cold turkey (or no turkey!). It’s been 30 days now and it has been easier than I thought it would be; I’ve been replacing meat with plenty of beans, nuts or tofu and tons of fruits and veggies. (Jackfruit makes a wonderful alternative for pork, and I have found some Gardein products to help with any “meat” ideas, plus, their corporate office sent me coupons for free products). I would say after about two weeks, the cravings for meat started to diminish and I’m feeling much better. Hang in there! You can do it!
Me neither. But the longer I go without meat, the less I crave it. Go to Gardein’s website and request some coupons for free products and they’ll email them to you. I made spaghetti and “meatballs” last night using Gardeins meatballs and it wasn’t bad; wasn’t craving it but needed some comfort food. Their fish is good too if you sauté it right. :-)
Your videos are SO GREAT for trying to understand sign language without any interpreting or subtitles. It's hard and I'm lost most of them time but it helps me learn so much!!
Hi I am hard of hearing and wear a hearing aid, I finally figured out how to get the close captions to work on UA-cam LoL 😂 I had to ask for help, I'm stubborn . I love you channel I am learning ASL at 48 years old, I have Multiple Sclerosis and have issues with my left hand , I have been watching ASL UA-cam videos.
I've been a vegan for a year now and i stopped eating meat all at once not slowly but it was hard not eating it the first month while everyone around me was eating whatever. It was worth it though bc you feel extremely healthy and proud of having self-control. Edit: The socks are so cute how do you decide who gets them??
I not born deaf I became deaf later in life. I get times where I get really confused with English words and phrases. Because I don’t understand English that well anymore or I only know how to say something in ASL. Because it’s completely different than English lol. So sometimes before I’ve said to hearing ppl “what do u mean? That makes no sense” when in reality it does make total sense just not in asl 😂😂 #latedeafproblems 🤷🏾♀️💯🤟🏾😂
When I first grew a beard - when I was 20 - I used hair conditioner on it and that really helped with the initial itchyness. After a few weeks it doesn't bother you any more. I finally shaved if off when I was 39!
it’s amazing that you’re trying! going vegan is not easy, it takes dedication and determination. but overall it makes you feel fantastic inside and in your heart because you’re doing something amazing for the planet and the animals. i went vegetarian and a couple months later my boyfriend did the same to follow my footsteps, crazy enough he never went back! it’s gonna be 4 years now for both of us being vegan. ❤️
Haha I actually just watched Hamilton on Disney plus and they actually used the phrase “for shame” and it reminded me of this video 😂 I’ve never heard it before this video either though
Haha, i love you guys. Ryan is a handsome guy with a great sense of humor, Ellen is gorgeous with a great sense of humor. You both love each other sho much you can feel it through the screen... is just wholesome, i loved it. :D
I think the "'for shame" thing is soooo common with partners who don't have the same native tongue. I have a friend who is francophone in a couple with an anglophone person and this happens all the time!! They'll try to say an expression and the other person doesn't understand and say "that's not a thing" 😂😂 Love you guys xxx
So proud of you guys for going vegan! Take as much time to transition as you need! I still struggle with it sometimes and I’ve been trying for like a year and a half lol. So I say I’m plant-based
I cut meat out cold turkey and that worked the best for me. Don’t let yourself get too comfortable thinking you can cheat because you deserve it. I can tell you guys are giving up meat for health rather than for ethical reasons (the animals). I hope you guys can completely be 100% vegan rather than a plant based diet that you guys are on now. I’m coming up to one year vegan!
20201023 That's the video I watched for today "for shame". To eat or not, to eat meat, it's not a matter of being healthy. Some bodies need meat more than other. I've been vegetarian for 34 years, but I have never enjoyed eating meat, chicken, fish, pork, and personally I don't like this myth about the vegetarian are better people. Good people focus their lives in praticing fraternal love, respect, suportiveness. Freedom helps people learn about themselves and intelligent minds use it to improve themselves. They avoid judging, but listen carefully to be able to understand the other's view point. Thank the Creator we are all different, and no one is better in the eyes of It. I love you both and the beautiful work you're doing to lovely show two different culture working together (deaf and hearing) Congrats. LOVE, LIVE, LEARN n LAUGH MAC
StephanieMarie Bertolino Yes, but some English sayings like that aren't really used or heard of when it comes to Deaf culture. I don't think Ryan has ever heard either one in ASL terms. I'm sure some Deaf people have made up their own sign to use with friends/family. I'm not Deaf so I'm not 100% sure on all of this, but that's what I've come to understand.
It’s so awesome that y’all are eating more plant based!!! I’ve been vegan for almost five years now and I really love to see other people eating plant based ☺️
We don’t judge you eating meat in your pho!! Me and my boyfriend are slowly transitioning meat out of our diet as it just doesn’t sit well in our guts but we haven’t just cut it out we have just slowly cut back not knowingly and sometimes still eat it! Everyone’s journeys are unique to there own!
It's a joke. I don't know how it originated but i remember it from in highschool. It's similar to shame on you only done in a joking manner. Like what she did. She was saying that eating the meat was bad but only joking about it because she knows that she would go about doing it a different way while at the same time not actually being upset or actually thinking he's doing anything wrong.
I am hearing and DIY learning BSL. Yes, BSL, not ASL. I binge watched you for a couple of days, as well as practicing BSL by using the signs I know to sign along with my thoughts and fingerspell when I didn't. When Ellen was signing I understood (I still find Ryan to be a bit too advanced for me at the moment, I know they seem to use the same signs). I was actually confused when she signed 'why am I not voicing?' I was thinking (and almost stopped the video and signed back something like) 'but you were before.... I'm confused'. I wanted to stop the video and rewind it to check. I had the subtitles/cc on, but I wasn't looking at them directly. I tend to focus on first the signs, second your mouth pattern, and finally the subtitles. I seemed to understand your signing despite you signing ASL (the signs are different!) and confusing me with the one handed letters/fingerspelling. I also am a big big beginner and would speak... very very broken sign with fingerspelling at best. I am still having a strong 'WT(insert expletive here), how can I actually understand sign that isn't even the language version I am learning! WT(expletive)!' moment. I must admit I am quite impressed with myself, but I am more concerned of the strangeness of it all, plus that I am sure I heard her voice when she wasn't voicing. That still gets me. I heard the noises of the cooking that is super quiet, the music, and then I didn't realise the louder audio due to microphone proximity I didn't hear! So shocked about understanding, shocked about not hearing her but hearing everything else like.... WHAT?! (Yes, I signed that word in caps!). How would you sign something to indicate the equivalent of someone shouting, but not because that person is angry?
If you have to solve the hankering for meat buy Beyond Beef Burgers in the fresh section of Ralphs, Wholefoods, and many other places. You'll never look back. Ryans showing off his guns was totally funny.
They have a burger at in and out called a grilled cheese. It's basically a burger with no meat. I get it all the time because I don't like hamburger meat
Question!!! I have been learning ASL on my own and I'm trying to identify when people are speaking ASL or PSE. Do you and Ryan speak with Pidgin Signed English? :)
I know that going vegetarian is a process - but it is not for everyone. I tried it a few times and did not feel good while on it - I know how to combine the protein to complete missing amino acids, but I also need additional protein because I cannot digest many of the legumes properly - and a craving for In-N-Out does happen for me every so often.
Im vegan and have watched loads of your videos and Had no clue you were vegan and that Ryan is transitioning! That's amazing! I got so excited when I saw you say that
You guys probably know this by now but in n out have the “grilled cheese” and it’s their burger without the patty and extra veggies and it tastes exactly like the real deal lol, and they are super extra cheap so order two if you’d like. I add chopped chilies to mine for something extra and it’s booommbbbbb
You know, I was just thinking.... maybe I should become pescatarian! I have really never liked red meat or poultry or whatever you call it... but I love fish, and I would love to try more vegetables. I'm scared of eating vegetables, but after hearing Ellen talking about how she's heard people say they feel so much better, I really wanna try it somehow!
That’s so awesome you guys are trying to go vegan, or is it vegetarian? I haven’t seen videos in awhile and it’s been awhile since this video but you signed vegetarian but vegetarian is great too, veganism is the best though for us, the animals and the planet! I think most people spell Vegan. There’s a couple signs out there but I don’t think one has been established. I’ve been vegan over a year and love it, what’s helped is seeing documentaries like Earthlings and Food Choices and taking an ethical point of view as well as environmental has helped me to stay and never want to go back. 💖
ok.... i like the cooking show! but i’m vietnamese, so i like seeing that! lol i love the socks btw, so cute! and i’d like to know your thoughts about that stranger who signed HI - or in general your thoughts about strangers who sign random stuff when they see you 😕
I'm a high schooler, 16, and we have ASL classes, from level 1-4 I'm only in level 1 but I already know a lot of these signs and I feel like I could definitely get by if I was with someone who is deaf/h.o.h. I would probably have to stop and ask "What's that sign mean" for a lot of signs but I'm also pretty fast at fingerspelling, so I feel like I could get by.
I thought that Fu was spelled, well, Fu. 4:41 You do you, Ryan. 5:20 Innout? 5:59 Ryan! *chuckles* 6:11 See what you did there, Ryan? ;-) 7:09 Nice joke. 8:01 I certainly do.
To be vegan and childless is great because there will be no more of overpopulation of animals and humans suffering I am glad that you are trying to be a good example to the world Being a good role model is very important

Did anyone count how many times Ellen said "pho" in this video? 😂
Don't re edit this into a drinking game... even if the drink is non caffinated, non alcohol, non sugar and fully healthy!.... Or at least ask first!

This is my favorite video of yalls so far! Seeing yalls relationship and seeing Ryan’s humor come out which I hadn’t seen just yet! Loved it ❤️

Omg I just realized something Ryan doesn’t know what her voice sounds like ..... woah
That G wagon y’all parked beside
ok.... i like the cooking show! but i’m vietnamese, so i like seeing that! lol i love the socks btw, so cute! and i’d like to know your thoughts about that stranger who signed HI - or in general your thoughts about strangers who sign random stuff when they see you 😕
I'm a high schooler, 16, and we have ASL classes, from level 1-4 I'm only in level 1 but I already know a lot of these signs and I feel like I could definitely get by if I was with someone who is deaf/h.o.h. I would probably have to stop and ask "What's that sign mean" for a lot of signs but I'm also pretty fast at fingerspelling, so I feel like I could get by.
I thought that Fu was spelled, well, Fu.
4:41 You do you, Ryan.
5:20 Innout?
5:59 Ryan! *chuckles*
6:11 See what you did there, Ryan? ;-)
7:09 Nice joke.
8:01 I certainly do.
Anyone notice she fingerspelled and said Brussels sprouts when it’s bean sprouts 😂?
Why dislike this awesome video?
To be vegan and childless is great because there will be no more of overpopulation of animals and humans suffering I am glad that you are trying to be a good example to the world Being a good role model is very important

my dad tried to grow out his moustache for movember. (male cancer awareness month in November) this man has been clean shaven for over 40 years since left the army, he said it was like a cactus on his upper lip 😂😂😂
think shaving balm for men helps soften the hair.
Going veg can be really hard! Keep trying :)
