I had a crazy dream back in 1990 when I had a '61 B Model Mack cab and long chassis (former farm truck). That dream told me an Airstream would look good on there. MY dream never came true. But HIS sure did.
@@yyiii276 I know this is original. My idea, had I acted on it, would never have been remotely as cool as this one. People can have the same type of idea. He’s not a mechanical engineer, they spend their days behind a desk and can’t turn a wrench to save a life. This man is what all gear heads hope to become when they retire.
@David_Richard_241 That makes me feel some better. Knowing that there are others that function on 2 to 4 hours of sleep. I can sleep a bit more on the weekend..but during the week and I'm working taking ambien helped me get maybe an additional amount hour or 2. For a while then that didn't do a thing. I'm retired now due to a spinal injury requiring emergency surgery. .you talk about a man about going nuts..I was a workaholic but never gave it a thought anyway Have a Blessed Day and God Bless All!!
Man oh man! I can see a few of these being married together. This is an amazing innovative trucker retirement home. I would love to see a longer more detailed video on this beautiful machine.
Excellent video. However, I'd like to see an extended video showing the tool storage, rubber boat, and all the details. It seems to me that this rig, technically, is much more than just a cool ride. I'd like to know how he made a living for the past 5 decades, and where he had access to a shop to do all the modifications. I would especially like to see a photograph slide show depicting the original truck and the details of the transformation. Thank you so much for making and uploading this video.
I worked on a racing team in the 90's that had a full size truck with a motor home body attached. It was registered as a motor home too, but the enforcement cops pulled us over all the time and we kindly pointed out the tag and they almost always said, "have a nice day".
Thank you so much for posting this!!! I have loved big trucks AND Airstreams since kindergarten .... at nearly sixty now, that's still true and this guy combined the two in an amazingly well thought out and beautifully executed way. AWESOME!!!
The 6 head monster under the hood crushes it.Mostly only the old timers know of this beast .There would only be CAT fur in the grannie lane when one of these went by.😂😂🤣
Very cool classic w900 long hood with an old school k model Cummins. Lots of bling the way any nice truck should have. With that shiny airstream piggy back. Beautiful very cool rig.
Absolutely BRILLIANT! Very clever man & good engineer right there.. Not great at 6mpg! Jeez but what a great project! If money no object it's brilliant! Like owning and running a supercar lol Cheers from London England 👍😎🏴
To those that wondered it has an “A” series set of gears in an 18 speed . With A B series it would be much faster but i’d always be moving the stick between 16th and 17th at normal (70-85) road speeds but the top end would be quite high, probably in the 150 mph range, when put in the “big hole”. I opted for a set of gears that allow less top end but the gearing is appropriate for split only for most of my on highway needs. I’m quite happy with gearing. 3.07 axles, lo pro 22.5 rubber , direct in 17th and if I remember correctly a 15% OD in 18th. I remember it’s slightly taller than the OD of the RTO12513 (13%) I replaced.
VERY CLEVER Old Guy . Motorhome . No Special Licence . Drive past weigh stations , and when they Chase and Stop you , you tell them to Fuck Off . And a Beautiful Unit , that goes like Stink . Well Done Sir .
Now let’s see him pull a 52 foot trailer. Also I would love to have video of him back in that trailer up to adopt and have to jackknife it in between two other trucks.
Looks cool and what a clever guy.. but unless you're living full time in it what's the point?...I've been driving trucks now for 25 years the last thing I want to do when I retire is go anywhere near a fucking truck!🤣
That guy isn’t your average trucker - he’s an automotive engineer, electrician, plumber, interior designer, mechanic, welder, home repair handyman and sculptor….
Genius, genius, genius! And skill to pull the entire thing together...wow!! Mike, thanks for dedicating yourself to trucks and finding the people who love them as much as you do.
Love his dream Stream because it’s one of a kind build. Building it himself is better than a factory one. Plus his Texas size smile on his face while showing his pride & joy
I’ve always thought an airstream behind a big truck would be the way to go. This guy nailed it. What a cool ride.
Yes I agree.

You never thought one time about this. Just simply say it is an original idea and leave it.

@@David_Richard_241 to try and combat my own ego problems, I am always telling myself that no matter how much I know, I still know literally nothing.
as a former trucker that has to be one of the coolest builds i've ever seen.
He humbly calls himself a trucker, but he’s more of a mechanical engineer imho. And a brilliant one at that.
That fellow's mind must never stop working. Even when he's sleeping. And I'll bet he's one of those guys who only needs 2 or 3 hours a night.
Indeed
He’s not a mechanical engineer, they spend their days behind a desk and can’t turn a wrench to save a life. This man is what all gear heads hope to become when they retire.
I don't think he could possibly coon that up anymore if he tried .

I would like that as well
Der Truck ist doch fast original, bis auf den Wohnwagen der auf den LKW Rahmen gesetzt wurde und die seitlichen Tanks unter ihm .
Sweet rig
Wasn't expecting the 1,000hp KTTA
Neither was I 😁
"NO one expects the 1,000hp KTA!"
(A Monty Python reference. Just popped into my head there.)😄
1000 hp ???

I saw something similar to this guy's rig, but it used a 5th wheel camper body instead.
My Dad was 45 years local Trucker, would love for hunting camp and plain just enjoying. Knowing him. I just love it,it's great.
What a time to be alive. Thank you for sharing this with us, and thanks to this fine gentleman for being willing to be interviewed
Guys like this are amazing. Being able to think it up and then make it a reality is truly amazing. Thanks for showing us and ......well done!!
The energy that man put into that ! Amazing 😉
Very creative and talented!!! Very nice build

Unbelievable. This is at the top of the list of your interviews. On'y thing missing was hearing that bad boy.
Wow !!! That is pretty cool and innovative. I would like to see this in person. Thanks for sharing 👍🏽
That was a cool camper and that owner sure came up with a good idea
Unbelievable. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, you haven’t lol. Beautiful rig.
This is freaking fantastic, well done bud!! Shes beautiful
I was expecting a 600hp C-15 under the hood, did not see the 1000hp KTTA coming
Yes, 1 of a kind. Beautiful job well done. Welcome to Texas, an l was raised in New Hampshire, Massachusetts.

Hahahaha 🤣🤣
With out a doubt the coolest RV ever.!
I agree.
Absolutely Outstanding, and the old school Cummins...Over The Top....⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Amazing and awesome all rolled up together
What a beautiful R.V.
This guy could be my friend and throw in a few beers too. His wife is probably a doll too.
Awesome and a fantastic gentleman.
Very cool classic w900 long hood with an old school k model Cummins. Lots of bling the way any nice truck should have. With that shiny airstream piggy back. Beautiful very cool rig.
I always thought about doing something like this. Nice to see I’m not nuts.
I believe the future of RVing is transferable house and chassis body
I just saw that somewhere on Facebook the other day. That thing is freakin badass.
😊

Thanks Mr. Nichols for your time and sharing your amazing rig with us.
Absolutely awesome!!!! I'd love to own that
Awesome rig! I am from Boston as well; Jamaica Plain/Roslindale.
What's up JP?
Another Bostonian! That rig is insane, great job!
That's an awesome old K whopper air stream

Fantastic! Nice to have you aboard! 👍😁
He did good on that truck and trailer out there keep doing it
That's a nice ride,camper- MTR home ,rv🙃
VERY CLEVER Old Guy . Motorhome . No Special Licence . Drive past weigh stations , and when they Chase and Stop you , you tell them to Fuck Off .

Nice rig!
Wish we could have seen inside as well.
Worked for cummins 24 years still get warm and fuzzy looking at a k series
❤️❤️
Now let’s see him pull a 52 foot trailer. Also I would love to have video of him back in that trailer up to adopt and have to jackknife it in between two other trucks.
He's a retired trucker so why would that be difficult for him? Any trucker could do what you describe. It's not brain surgery.
I am impressed
WOW! this Man is a Genius!
Doesn’t get any more cool then that!!
That’s a cool custom rig
I wish I knew what this man forgot, kudos!!
The stance @3:36 and look he gives the cameraman when he says "I'm 💪 governed at 2400 rpm" says I wish you would all over it!!
🤠
So it's a new engine? That would've been nice to hear the details on that? All he said was "It was kind of tired" Nice rig for sure
Well done
👍👍
6 miles per gallon that’s amazing for a truck
Pretty Amazing...he could license these for sale and make a fortune!
That's awesome 👍
Sure is
Spectacular
👍👍
That's awesome!
Dam old timer is a genius...
Brilliant guy.
Nice ride sir.

Nice rig
Yes sir
That is cool.
It’s larger then an NYC Apartment, lol
Nice work
Thanks for the visit
wow, amazing look like a mad machine
Oh crap, now I wish I hadn't sold my truck when I retired.
🤣🤣
That's just BADASS !
love the truck and the little doggies....what State doesnt require a CDL to drive that rig ?
All states unfortunately
My god, that engine.
Very cool !!
My Dream
Make your truck a show truck you don't need to put anything else on it it's beautiful
Best part, no CDL required.
All I can say is wow wow 😯 Holy sh**
With all the new state restrictions can you drive it to Calif.??
So cool clever guy ..
Very cool 😊👍👍🇺🇸
😊😊
American ingenuity on parade.
You’re the man!
Looks cool and what a clever guy.. but unless you're living full time in it what's the point?...I've been driving trucks now for 25 years the last thing I want to do when I retire is go anywhere near a fucking truck!🤣
Can NH be remembered for this guy, or maybe Rokon, instead of the home of the stupid segway?
Yep, blame NH for hoverboards.
What a way to beat the DOT eh
THAT'S a sleeper berth.
5 miles per gallon? At today's gas prices you'd better be a millionaire to drive this thing 500 miles. Nice rig though.
OMG so nice !!! Great job
Glad you like it!
V V COOL
With fuel the way it is an Overdrive would help?
SRT Demon does 0-100 in 5 seconds!
Great build my man!!! Too bad cant afford to drive too far because of the price of diesel. FJB!!!!
Absolutely the most innovative and cleanest design of a "motorhome" I've ever seen. I'm jealous.
There's another video here on youtube with a guy that did something similar, but used the body of a 5th wheel camper.
That guy isn’t your average trucker - he’s an automotive engineer, electrician, plumber, interior designer, mechanic, welder, home repair handyman and sculptor….
Yeah the first thing I thought of is this guy is a lot like a Dairy Farmer. You have to do it all because you cannot afford to pay anyone else

Genius, genius, genius! And skill to pull the entire thing together...wow!! Mike, thanks for dedicating yourself to trucks and finding the people who love them as much as you do.
Thank you that means a lot to me.

This is what you call, A LIVING LEGEND 💯💯💯💯
What is the difference between a kta and ktta is . T stands for turbo. 2ts stand for twin turbo.
Jesus that thing is a beast. KTTA and everything. That guy is a mad scientist. Love it Once a trucker always a trucker. ✌️
Haha mad scientist 😁
A damn genius
