There is no "wrong" decision in where to move. Both will have their pros and cons, both will make you happy and sometimes make you frustrated. All you need to do is choose, commit, and not look back. You'll grow and learn from either choice.

As someone who struggles with perfectionism, feeling like I'm never doing "enough" and anxiety over making the right and wrong decisions in life there is no wrong decision in where to move (especially when choosing between NYC and LA) "Everything is temporary" A good reminder

Travel to N.Y., in a neighborhood that you love and stay for 1 month to see how you like it. Volga on it! I like the Upper West side and the Upper East side of Manhatten. They are full of artsy people, restaurants and good views. Peaceful but vibrant. I do love Manhattan and Scarlesdale, though. You can't beat a Doorman greeting you at the door in the high-rise buildings, with loads of anemities!👍

I can feel your struggle on making your decision on were to move. I am in a simular situation. I sort of have a feeling I should move and make changes in my life and especially find a new job. Its not easy to know whats the best thing to do.

Whenever I'm feeling stressed, I always try to take a second and appreciate what I have because the younger me once wanted to be where I am today. For better or worse, there are always things to appreciate and be happy about. I'm sure at one point you wanted to have a million subscribers, and be able to do UA-cam fulltime, etc. You are living your dream, and yes it sucks to big decisions sometimes, but it can also be very exciting to get the chance to change things up a bit.

And just FYI, if you & Sam move forward together, there’s a beautiful lake close to Greenville. We used to have a home on lake keowee. I’d highly recommend the two of you investing into a home or vacation home on it. It is so beautiful with the mountains & a clean lake & you’re close enough to Atlanta or Greenville for traveling. I’d recommend checking it out! 💛 cannot wait to see where you land.
As usual awesome behind the scenes of being a youtuber. Definitely one of the hardest working content creators on youtube in my opinion. And shoutout to Monica. Oh and about stress it can be really hectic. It's sort of in the back of your mind the entire time during stressful periods and can feel non-stop. This may also add to the feeling of not feeling that sense of satisfaction when completing a video (even if it's top notch). Keep the content coming and power through you got this. (ok I'm all commented out now 😅)

You are definitely correct, you will be fine and things will work out! Thinking of you and the stress you are feeling. I’m kind of in a place like that now with my self employed work at home situation. I also have to be a part time caregiver for my elderly dad. It’s hard to prioritize things and not feel guilty about what I need to do at the same time not getting overwhelmed. I do the same as you and stop for minute and be grateful for what I have and remember it will all work out. Hang in there! We are all here for you 😊❤

This vid is very relatable and not just because I live in Vancouver and used to work in the building next to the hotel you stayed in. Stress, anxiety and feeling like there is an actual weight upon your chest. Yup, very relatable. But you're right about telling yourself it's going to be okay. It seems simple but it's the truth and everything works out in the end. It's just difficult to believe it when you're going through it.
Shelby sometimes decisions are clear cut and sometimes they’re clear as mud. When they aren’t clear you have to think what aligns to my current values the most? What are my immediate goals? I think a lot comes down to stuff you don’t want to make public obviously like where your relationship with Sam is going, only you can decide but from an outside perspective you don’t want to live where he lives and he wants to live there. So you need to live where you want to live 💕💕💕💕

I remember when you were really stressed in your vlogs about moving out of LA, and as soon as you got to NY you were so happy and excited about all the new things to do. sometimes I feel like the anticipation of a big life decision is the worst part (at least for me!).

I had just flown up from LA and Mexico. Such a change in weather. I was in Vancouver for 3 days before spending a week in Hawaii. Such a change in weather. lol. So great that you came up to Vancouver, BC....but yes Mondays weather sucked - too bad because the b roll would have been awesome especially from the waterfront and those north shore mountains! Regarding your emotions around your moving decision - I feel like the emotion of uncertainty is the worst...cause it is rocking your foundation. And yes caffeine and uncertainty is not great, haha. And you are correct, 'it will all work out the way it is supposed to'.

you know Shelby much people have significantly diminished their huge channels on youtube and cant keep up with schedules working for themselves to find motivation and be disciplined by yourself i hard and there is a lot going on give yourself credit also the success you've had on youtube is a transition most extremely successful youtuber have not been capable of gauging what we are all getting through right now are extreme times and here you are facing it publicly helping the rest of us who have our meltdowns cause whatever your lifestyle is everyone is being severely impacted and your home the new one doesn't have to be the ultimate dream everything happens for a reason. tell you what you do so much for a lot of us who have whatever success we have in the present day but are still through it feeling anxious facing big changes and the way you give us courage and I feel like im not going through this alone is just gold. I know its tough to be vulnerable and so do what you feel confortable doing but in an instagram world it is beautiful to see people expressing how they really feeling creating these conversations so we all dont have to feel alone in this.
Shelby!! You should come to Canada more. I live in Newfoundland, it’d be pretty far for you to visit but would love to maybe see some Toronto or Montreal content. Also you brought up NIMBYS in your last video and I have a feeling you’ve been watching some Not Just Bikes. I cannot tell you how happy I was to hear you talk about the housing crisis from that perspective. You have a large platform and while I don’t like the idea that because you’re famous you have to talk about something, but the fact that you have that opinion was so cool to hear from someone with the kind of content you make. Another great vlog! The view from your hotel room in Vancouver was so pretty!! I'd gladly switch out this super hot sunny weather for gloom, and sweaters lol. It's ok to express your feelings in vlogs, they don't always have to be happy - life sucks sometimes. It's also ok to not want to share your feelings in vlogs - either way big hugs! It will all work out in the end ❤

Just want to give you an internet hug! These times can be so hard. Something I find useful is to have a section in your planner or journal to write down 3 or more things you accomplished throughout the day (or wins). When we focus on the small wins, we start to realize that we are accomplishing more than we think. You have accomplished SO much at your age and don't be too hard on yourself when you feel a bit of a lull. Btw, I have enjoyed all of your recent videos. I think you're doing better than you think! :D We are our own worst critics.

I just got back from Denver last night. It was a fun experience to drive through the Rockies. I didn't have time to do Pike's Peak experience, but I will do that next time. However, I think next time I am flying to Denver. That 12-hour drive is pretty ridiculous. lol

Your videos are always so entertaining. I’m surprised that you don’t keep a travel suitcase that has all of your travel clothes so that you only unpack to launder what you wear and repack it so it’s always ready for travel.

hey shelby, hang in there, i know how it feels to feel like a huge burden is on you, youre at the end of your rope, etc etc. it will get better! always. ive been "funemployed" from the tech layoffs for the last year and a half at this point. and yesterday i just got the break i needed and am starting a full time contract position in some cutting edge applied cryptography. a year of persevering came through. itll always get better! even though 2023 has really put a wrench in my plans to relocate back to the west coast for tech, staying where it makes sense for the first few steps in any plan is just what we just gotta do. good luck out there shelby! whatever decision you make, im confident that youll be able to handle whats thrown at you, just remember to lean into your decisions!

I’m just guessing but I think some of the stress about your moving decision is choosing LA - family vs NYC - Sam. It’s a really tough choice. The good news is, your family will always be there to come home to.

I'm paying $90 a month for internet in North Dakota, so I think $200 in Seattle doesn't sound that expensive. I also pay for higher bandwidth due to the fact I like to game.
