I think one issue with the P12s is the humming. While they are quieter in decibels, the humming their motor makes is way more noticeable than the F12s' whooshing at slightly higher decibel levels. For anyone who wants silence first, I do think the F12s are better considering they don't have a humming tone at those low speeds.
In another video I saw that the humming was specific to a certain speed. 1000RPM to be precise. If this is true a simple fan curve which avoid 1000 alltogether would easily fix the issue.
The F12s are more suited for a rear mount in the case where there is no filter. All it has to do it move more warm air out of the cabinet at lower RPM/noise. For intake through the filters, the P12s are more suitable.
Thanks, I just decided to change all my fans since my case is an absolute mishmash of different fans and stumbled upon this channel and the Arctic fans! I was thinking about doing exactly that, getting P12s for intake and CPU cooler and a single F12 for the rear exhaust. I know the comment is ages old but maybe you'll reply with some insight? hahah
I have the P12 and the F14, 5 of each, and currently deciding which ones would do best installed in the side panel of a Corsair 5000d with the cable cover attached. Looking forward to your next review.
For a minute there I thought the F12 was better than the P12 and I just bought 3 P12s!. I'm using them as an intake fan and they're sandwiched by mesh and a 3M filter.
By personal experience, what I have noticed is that while the P12 moves more air volume, it doesn't "push it" as far as the F12 unless you set it to 70% or higher, and that's why the F12 gets some advantage at lower RPM. Meaning that for small cases the P12 is always better, but for bigger cases, if you want to run run fans at low RPM you are better off with F12 fans, even if they are behind a mesh (a radiator is a different story).
The old model I have used ever since you have been PC gaming has been a12025-12cb-3bn-f1. I never even actually knew they had a stronger 120mm fan other than that since I never did any research. I thought they were all the same until last week when I looked around and found these were rated the best cheap 120mm fans. These blow way more. I suggest anybody who wants an upgrade to get this brand.
I just bought the P12 for $32 for a pack of 5, the only downside is the design and overal build quality, but I don't have any light on my PC so you can't see it anyway lol
I have a question. Have this 4 scenarios: 1- two intake and two exhaust, all P12 2- two intake and two exhaust, all F12 3- two intake F12 and two exhaust P12 4- two intake P12 and two exhaust F12 What would you recommend me to buy? Thanks!
I've been thinking about this. some people say that the F series is for the casing and the P series is for the heatsink and radiator, but there are others who say that the P series is more suitable for the casing. so which one is better?
I think that for a case with semi or almost fully restricted intakes the p12 are the better option, but for an airflow optimised case (wich there are many options in the market right now) the f12 could be better?
As a noob to the PC world. Maybe i can your input about my scenario. I'm thinking of buying the Montech air 100 case, with a a320 pro max mobo. Now does my low end mobo has any influence on whether i should pick up an f12 or a p12? Thank you in advance. Good video btw.
Thanks! And no, your Mobo has absolutely no influence on that. With Mobo's & Fans, the only restriction you might encounter is how many Fans you can hook up to a single port. Some Headers will support 4 fans, others 5. But as long as you spread you fans over all of your Fan headers (to a normal extend), everything will be fine. And BTW. pick the P12's.
I have 3 F12 front in my 460X case and also one corsair DC fan in the rear. I have 5600x with mugen 5 and 1080ti. Silence is my biggest concern. Most of the time I do not run my fans at full speed. I always look for a sweet spot, which i dont hear anything while playing game. Should I replace my F12 fans with p12? I am also thinking that I can buy a P12 for my mugen 5 and I can use my kafe flex in the rear. Can you suggest me something logical in investment and silence point of view.
Hi I'm sorry I can't answer your question, but are you Daisy chaining them to your motherboard? And if so what type of mother bother do you have? I am getting these fans for my case and I'm sort of worrying that my mother board might be damaged by the power drawn from using multiple fans from one header

I have a question regarding static pressure: I have a Corsair 4000D Airflow, which has a fine mesh filter in front of the frontal intake fans, to filter out dust. Is static pressure only important if there is something behind the fans, or is it significant as well, when there is resistance from the direction where air is sucked in from? Specifically I am wondering if airflow fans or static pressure fans are best for that scenario. I am not even sure, if there is data on that :D
For static pressure of your fans, it's not important if the filter is Infront or behind the fan. It's either harder to pull or push, but insignificant which one of them. For your scenario, the 4000D's filter is so fine, you !can! go with an Airflow focused fan without a doubt. Though (because you are in this video) I would still recommend going for a P12, as it's generally just the better option. Hope this helps :)
So with my new case Phanteks 300A that comes with only one fan, getting 2 P12 fans would be the best, right? Edit: There's also 3 versions, one that's TC, one that's PMW and one that doesn't say anything else Also the one that says PMW has 4 pins and the other two have 3 pins
Yes, for both questions. The TC has a 3-pin header with a temperature control probe attached to itself. It will regulate itself depending how hot it is inside your case. The other "-no extra" one is just standard 3-pin voltage control.
