I have been followed by random people and how I know is cause I'd park in a parking lot and watch them all drive in and park at a particular corner and get out and all talk to each other. Then id go park across the street and all the same people and vehicles would follow and I did that for hours to scared to want to leave where I was that was super populated..I'd have videos pop up on my phone and one I still remember now was a video playing "I know how to hide a dead body" my IP usually shows a location I used to live in Chilliwack and it is always that no matter what phone provider I go with.
For a certain period my vehicle wouldn't start unless I had my VPN turned on. I tested that out by turning it off while driving and my vehicle would start to stall out and I turn the VPN back on and it would run perfectly fine again. This 1 time I went to help my gf with her broken vehicle and got routed to go through this forest where no one should ever have service and I'd have full bars as long as I connected to the hotspot from my phone to my laptop. This is not my kind of fun at all. But going through these nutty files some are pretty interesting.
My inet6 would show the UK government at times. I checked with this website I forgot the name of every now and then. Id occasionally go through my web searches on Google and seen a search I never made and tried to contact the person. "Davie winder""Wallet" he never messaged back. Also all my email addresses Everytime I get off them if they have any proof of the photos I've taken they would be completely locked. I'd have the number for authentication but it keeps sending an email for a code to the email I'm trying to recover. I have some dll files that might be of use. I have the SD card of the raspberry pi still if that can be of use.

I wish the default was for devices to be non-discoverable, but I could understand why it isn't that way. I always keep any sharing features turned off. I'll turn them on if I need them.
Small point, BT5.2 has been deployed for some time now. And Apple devices may have BTLE enabled all the time, even if the device is totally powered down. BT can have a range of 100 meters, but consumer goods are normally at the lowest power class, 10 meters very optimistically range.
To combat theft Android 15 has anti snatch detection. That locks the phone if it gets grabbed. New reset processes are also making phones more difficult to resell when they're stolen. Hopefully it will make phone theft much less profitable and therfore less common.

Can you elaborate a little on the legal concerns? For example, if you operate the target yourself in an isolated area, isn't that good enough? Is it difficult to obtain enough separation from everyone else? What were the concerns?
Can someone please clarify, if the BT & WiFi is turned off, in settings, even if device isn't completely powered off, can a thief still see it with this method? 14:13 Why would a car's bluetooth signal be broadcasting, if the car is parked, and ignition is turned off? A hacker can connect to a computer with a bluetooth adapter? Seems like short range bluetooth is more secure. I didn't know phones can broadcast wifi or BT signals, unless they're turned completely off. How, & Why Th Fk? I turn WiFi + BT off in settings, I can't connect to anything, but someone else can see it anyway? (yes, I know nothing of this stuff)
But how do you scan a bluetooth device in someone's car, if you're not even logged into that network??? Like car is usually different network than you are in
Scanning BT beacons is passive sniffing. No need to be part of any network. Just like when you scan for an open WiFi network. You can see advertising frames. It's also possible to sniff traffic. You may not be able to read the encrypted traffic but the MAC addresses will not be encrypted. They may be also be Randomized but you can usually identify the manufacturer of randomized MAC addresses.
with smartphones having bluetooth randomisation & other ble devices having ways to turn off the transmission when not in use - especially to save battery power, some of this feels like fear mongering. if best practices are applied like turning off unused devices, then it's pretty much a moot point. the ble scanning can be used for directed actions on specific individuals by tracking them through devices they have on them but the id has a time limit due to ble randomisation & accessories are not on all the time. plus, knowing a bluetooth address does not necessarily mean you can break into the device & take all data it has. the theft discussed in the video is about physical theft after identifying a ble device is present somewhere, but the techniques shown has its limitations.
In latinamerican countries, there are a LOT of criminal organization that use jamming devices to steal vehicles. The curious part is that law enforcement, often ignore or downplay this type of crime (releasing the criminal the next day or a couples of hours after the crime took place) So, that takes me to this question: Do normal people stand a chance against this?

Why not just install the tools in Kali as opposed to jumping into a completely different OS distribution? I see Mirage is available, and several different SDR tools.

The BT and BLE stack is lacking hugely on documentation from any programming language that any researcher tries to aboard it. One could find better documentation often from microcontrollers than any other place but it's still very limited due to the lack of documentation specially on Android. A very good source can be found on the Microbit Examples and exercises.

I've had an ongoing issue with my car, a Hyundai Elantra SEL 2018. Its lights, inside and outside, get turned on and stay on for a long time all by itself and sometimes the trunk opens also by itself while parked on my driveway, usually late at night or in the early hours. I'm a low level amateur at best when it comes to Linux. I'm not 100% on this but, Google how to download Linux drivers for "your model number and brand" device. This has always helped me. You're probably just missing a driver.

Does every bluetooth adapters can do this ? Like in wifi hacking We need a special wifi adapter which suports a monitor mode and packet injection modes. What about Bluetooth ? Can out of the box for example raspberry pi 5 or raspberry pi 3 or rpi 3 model B+ do this all as you showed ?

I have been followed by random people and how I know is cause I'd park in a parking lot and watch them all drive in and park at a particular corner and get out and all talk to each other. Then id go park across the street and all the same people and vehicles would follow and I did that for hours to scared to want to leave where I was that was super populated..I'd have videos pop up on my phone and one I still remember now was a video playing "I know how to hide a dead body" my IP usually shows a location I used to live in Chilliwack and it is always that no matter what phone provider I go with.
For a certain period my vehicle wouldn't start unless I had my VPN turned on. I tested that out by turning it off while driving and my vehicle would start to stall out and I turn the VPN back on and it would run perfectly fine again. This 1 time I went to help my gf with her broken vehicle and got routed to go through this forest where no one should ever have service and I'd have full bars as long as I connected to the hotspot from my phone to my laptop. This is not my kind of fun at all. But going through these nutty files some are pretty interesting.
My inet6 would show the UK government at times. I checked with this website I forgot the name of every now and then. Id occasionally go through my web searches on Google and seen a search I never made and tried to contact the person. "Davie winder""Wallet" he never messaged back. Also all my email addresses Everytime I get off them if they have any proof of the photos I've taken they would be completely locked. I'd have the number for authentication but it keeps sending an email for a code to the email I'm trying to recover. I have some dll files that might be of use. I have the SD card of the raspberry pi still if that can be of use.

I wish the default was for devices to be non-discoverable, but I could understand why it isn't that way. I always keep any sharing features turned off. I'll turn them on if I need them.
Small point, BT5.2 has been deployed for some time now. And Apple devices may have BTLE enabled all the time, even if the device is totally powered down.
BT can have a range of 100 meters, but consumer goods are normally at the lowest power class, 10 meters very optimistically range.
I think always on is coming to Android devices soon as well.
But if your pc inside a car is turned off, does it still produce a bluetooth signals?

Scanning BT beacons is passive sniffing. No need to be part of any network. Just like when you scan for an open WiFi network. You can see advertising frames. It's also possible to sniff traffic. You may not be able to read the encrypted traffic but the MAC addresses will not be encrypted. They may be also be Randomized but you can usually identify the manufacturer of randomized MAC addresses.
with smartphones having bluetooth randomisation & other ble devices having ways to turn off the transmission when not in use - especially to save battery power, some of this feels like fear mongering.
if best practices are applied like turning off unused devices, then it's pretty much a moot point. the ble scanning can be used for directed actions on specific individuals by tracking them through devices they have on them but the id has a time limit due to ble randomisation & accessories are not on all the time.
plus, knowing a bluetooth address does not necessarily mean you can break into the device & take all data it has. the theft discussed in the video is about physical theft after identifying a ble device is present somewhere, but the techniques shown has its limitations.
In latinamerican countries, there are a LOT of criminal organization that use jamming devices to steal vehicles. The curious part is that law enforcement, often ignore or downplay this type of crime (releasing the criminal the next day or a couples of hours after the crime took place)
So, that takes me to this question: Do normal people stand a chance against this?

The BT and BLE stack is lacking hugely on documentation from any programming language that any researcher tries to aboard it. One could find better documentation often from microcontrollers than any other place but it's still very limited due to the lack of documentation specially on Android. A very good source can be found on the Microbit Examples and exercises.

I've had an ongoing issue with my car, a Hyundai Elantra SEL 2018. Its lights, inside and outside, get turned on and stay on for a long time all by itself and sometimes the trunk opens also by itself while parked on my driveway, usually late at night or in the early hours.

No wireless adapters show themselves on my terminal, it is only showing Nat Ethernet, did I download and install the wrong image?
I'm a low level amateur at best when it comes to Linux. I'm not 100% on this but, Google how to download Linux drivers for "your model number and brand" device.
