I should have gone to harbor freight and bought that torque wrench you used for torque angle. I just finished torque to yield rod bolts with the dial gauge - real pain and very difficult under the engine. Several hours of work. Thanks for mentioning the wrench. Great video thanks.

I have the same Snap On 3/8 battery impact and I agree it is a great little gun.

You are doing a disservice to the tax payers if you half ass repair it when you have the time and money to do it right. You are a great example to others by doing the job correctly. Those trucks and equipment are relied upon heavily to keep the roads clear and safe. Awesome video as usual Jason.

That's quite the job. A lot of torque sequences. Does the shop supply your hand tools or are they your own?

Almost all the tools I use are the towns I will use some of mine if it makes things easier or if it’s a once in a while thing so they don’t need to buy a tool.

Great Videos, what is the orientation for the head gasket? Does the metal pinches go up or down?

I’m not sure off the top of my head. It should only go one way to clear all the passage ways I believe. Sometimes it says on the gasket which way it goes.

how long did it take to remove and then replace the head

I wasn’t under any time crunch so I worked in a comfortable pace, but it’s gonna depend on the condition of the vehicle and knowing where Everything is. It took me about three work days to do it all start to finish. The first day I had it ready to come out and the second day I removed it, swapped parts around cleaned up the mating surfaces, packed the core and got the head set on. The third day I finished reassembling it and set the valve lash. It might not be exactly how the the videos are broken up but it’s how it happened. I also torqued everything so depending on if that’s your preference or not I did.

So with the original head so you think it wasn’t worth trying to rebuild it like selling it to a local machine shop

There was a 700 dollar core charge on the original head and with the crack running around the side and bottom I don’t know if the machine work cost would have outweighed the wait time and cost of the rebuilt one I got. There aren’t many machine shops in my area that would want to work on such a big head so just finding one is a challenge. I’m sure it has some value but how much is the question.

Yeah, I cost me about 600 bucks to get the head rebuild on a 1.8 L Chevy Cruz engine.

I hope you had your Wheaties before all that torquing.
