Just watched parts one and two. Both are soothing, and then it hit me ... Austin’s delivery is so calming it reminds me of Fred Rogers (that’s a compliment in my world). Thanks Austin!
always check battery voltage while cranking, not resting. A battery may rest at 12v but dip below 8.5v while cranking which anything below that 8.5v is an unhealthy battery. Awesome Video too, I am just getting into tig and just got a super sweet setup so watching tons of videos to get me on my way! Your channel has helped a lot.
Good job Austin, great information about the recheck the pipe after you’ve been away from it for a few hours. It’s crazy how things settle when laying still on gravel or dirt. Great job all around except the break down on the welder. Thanks for sharing with us, Fred.👏🏻👏🏻👍👍
That’s gonna be one heck of a overhead! As always it looks some dang nice work. Lots of people don’t realize how much work goes into a job before you actually get to start burning rod. I agree with you about welding being relaxing, I start getting all tensed up if I’m not welding. Catch you next week and be safe.
Great work ethic! I like how you adapt and overcome to keep working. Lots of guys I know that when the pipeline work dries up for a bit they complain and don’t work. Keep up the good work, that’s a dang heavy duty entrance!!
Hey Austin love the videos! You e inspired me to work harder in my Highschool shop. Don’t know if there is a reason why you don’t do this, but if you put your oxy torch at an angle then it will stop it from cutting out, and popping. Just like a push angle with mig welding it will preheat infront if your cut.
All my welding is self taught. I can get by with mig which I use the most mainly because I get better results but I really struggle with stick welding. I can sort of run OK on the flat but that is it. Up or down hopeless. I watch other welding videos like yours and you make it look so easy. I even watch the how to videos but still can't do it. No substitute for actually being shown I suppose. Good to see you welding pipe again even if they are only oversize gate posts.
Love your videos Austin. I don't know who you are building this for but he is one lucky dude! Can't wait to see the final installation!! Keep up the great work!! 😉
Love your videos keeps me motivated to keep learning welding hopefully I can start a job welding going to try a fund a good deal on a arc welder have a flux welder but its not really that nice
You left out the part of you rolling the pipe after you talked about the pipe wrench could you maybe leave parts like that in in the future I’m 17 and a junior In high school I just got into welding and watch your videos a lot to try and learn and the small details really help keep up the good work
17:00 I know EXACTLY how you feel. When I'm welding I get into a zone and everything is right in the world. 🤙 When I'm not welding, work is just... meh. 🤷♂️
On ANY inspected weld, structural or pipe, the prep and welds are EXACTLY the same. I would call what your doing ornamental. I'm with you on prep. More is better or as a friend of mine likes to say mo better. You are oh so right about rechecking. I think your right about the jack stands settling but I think the sun also has something to do with it. I know how to keep your welder battery charged up and even arrive at the jobsite with a warm welder. Bit of a nuisance when you have to take the welder off the truck but maybe worth it to some folks. DM me if you would like to know how.
i love the vids as always! im sure im not alone in this but i love the "arc shots" in your vids. i know there others here who also like the 3rd person shots while your welding but maybe theres a neat in between. i realize your a busy man and already spend lots of time editing videos which are great and i love them but just thought id throw out an idea to maybe while your welding in the video you could put another shot in a corner or maybe half the screen could but one view and the other half the other view at the same time? it might but just me but i love seeing you lay beads down up close cause your a damn good welder and its an art. huge fan! keep it up!
Autin what welding machine you used to weld those pipe? Im looking to buy a welding machine that could burn 6010 or any of those cellulose rods.. any suggestions?
The only time I've ever been allowed to weld down hand, was when we got ticketed for downhand boiler tube overlays in steam boiler. All pipe welds here that I've done are 100% uphill. Our structural codes are pretty demn strict too
What is the difference between 8010 and 6010? I've only used 6010, 6011, 6013, 7014, 7018 and a few speciality rods. Lol I tried looking up about 8010 not to much to go off of. Does it burn smoother than 6010/6011? Because I do like the way those two burn.

Hey Austin, I know that you are a busy man. I would like a second opinion on welding job I have coming up. I was wondering if I could ask you a question
Hey man, just got a question dont know if you could maybe do a video on it or not. I recently got a job welding out some 2 7/8 pipe for a corral, the pipe is probably 1/4 inch and its coped on the ends, the people that coped the ends for the guy im working for didnt do a really good job and there is like 1/4 inch gaps where the saddle meets the vertical pipes, I started with a 3/32 6010 and obviously that wasnt working so I tried some 1/8 6011, it seems to work a little better, but still its really hard to keep from blowing holes and trying to be able to actually lay a bead in there, any tips would be greatly appreciated!
are you planning on sinking the pipe in concrete or welding on footing plates for bolts? will you put braces out to a secondary footing to prevent the gate from pulling the uprights forward and down when open? i imagine the force pulling out and down will be massive when doors that long and heavy are open. i am planning on doing this with my driveway gate project(only 18 ft wide though) because i dont have room to make the footing massive enough to oppose the torque of the gate when open
Ah yes! My favorite Friday show....The Austin Ross Show! 🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'm learning to become a welder so this channel is GOLD
The trades teach you to think on your feet . A trait that is learned
man o man that 2 square idea is great it'll work like a charm. thanks for the idea

What a great project! Really looking forward to seeing this one develop in the weeks ahead. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for taking the time to explain, how and why to set up the pipe for welding. It is amazing the time spent setting up, versus welding...

Yes, being shown helps but just tons of hood time (practice) helps also. Soo much of any type of welding is repetitiveness.

Always lookin forward to friday just for an “austin ross uploaded” notification 🔥🤙🏽
You have inspired me to do my own pipe fence and take a shot at it. I ended up buying a torch setup and a Hobart champion 145 for my first gas welder.
Outstanding videos. Love to watch you fabricate!
Great video man! Always learn something from every video I watch.
Having some fun with some pipe be safe and keep on welding

When running tig on the Tig200 you have to use a foot pedal or some kind of remote amperage control
it’s scratch start and you’ll have control if you run a ditch box if not you’ll have to set it on the machine face
@@jonsturgis3244 just had a job in nyc and bought it because it was cheap I called Lincoln and told them I could not strike an arc they told me that I had to use the supplied foot pedal.

I’ve ALWAYS have used a spud wrench on jobs, just a smooth jaw pipe wrench.
You should show us some tig. Awesome video really like your work
What size oxygen and and acetylene bottles do you run on your rig?

Awsome job buddy
I always spray the pipe at the Jack stands with wd 40 and use a chain clamp to spin
How do you move that 8" pipe all welded up across a 24 foot span?
Looking good
That old root run frying eggs. Boy I miss that.
Is there a specific reason why you twist up your oxy/acet hose?
Very hard work nice fab-+welder Wich country sir
Looking slick there buddy, c'mon 👌
C’mon 😉😎
Great production work Austin, could you offer some clarification on welding down as to vertical? I wasn't aware stoving was an option :)

what is going on boss ross. been a long time no show months. good to watch this. where the jobs lol
Hell yeah! Nice tips 💪🏽
Hold up wait a minute is he touching the rod while welding ?? Is that ok??? I’m only just now learning how to weld and I’ve done arc and I’m starting on torch/acetylene welding
Your gloves and your fingers will let you know pretty quick what not to do lol. Just keep burning rod you'll figure it out.
Ya, it’s ok. But the rod will get hotter the shorter it gets lol then you won’t want to touch it.
I love welding pipe too! Good video! How much do you charge for a project like this?
Your the man!!!!

Just started welding school in tulsa got any tips for a starter?
Good video bud
Where do you order parts for the your welders? I have an sa200 that needs parts
What amps were you running welding the pipe?
What are your regulator settings on your torches? That thing cuts like a laser!😎
I’m not even sure... 😂 they are around 10 on acetylene and 30-40 on oxygen. The trick is a nice clean tip 😎😉
@@arosswelding thank you, had no idea oxy was that high, can't wait to try it
You bet
When the welds go good the singing starts and cussing stops
I’m impressed! What amperages for 5/32 ?
On my sae 300 I’ve got it on 150 range and about 50 on the fine tune.
On the tig 200 I believe I had it around 95...
I think I saw you in Cushing the other day

Try a 5/32 6010 or any 5/32 rod. And try turning your machine down and welding uphill. That will help fill the gaps a touch faster and easier.
@@arosswelding Appreciate it!
when I was doing a training on weld pipe course, I was always told to start from the bottom up toward the top?
You can run the root (bead) pass uphill or downhill if you’re using 6010. For your fills/hot pass run 6010 downhill and 7018 up hill
