The loop (series or parallel) is not generally regarded as a good place for distortions etc.Personally I'd use only the modulation effects and delay from a multifx thru the loop.
Thank you for the explanation. Can I ask you two queastions? What is the difference between Parallel mode and using pedal effects by INPUT in front of the amp? And when you use Series mode, is there still amp sound or only sound from the pedal effects? Thanks in advance.
Parallel mode is running the amp signal and the FX signal side by side. in---===----out. You can adjust the amount of the mix of the two signals with your fx leaving the original signal intact. FX in line with the front input are blended into a single signal hitting the preamp. Series mode is similar to placement in the front end of the amp. But timed based FX sound better there sometimes. The FX are also added into the original signal unlike Parallel mode.
What effect or processor are you placing in the loop. I have not run into that yet. Does backing off on the effect level solve it? You might be over powering the amps signal at times making it sound like a phase canceling issue. The signals in parallel need to be mixed properly is my guess.
Is your amps reverb on as well ? I think the on board reverb is stereo like the chorus. Maybe it doesn’t play well with your pedal. Seems strange not to though. Try the reverb pedal going in front instead and see if it sounds better there.
-10 and +4 are the two settings used for audio gear. It's best to match your gear levels when ever possible. Sometimes its a level thing, if your clipping the gear a lot back it down to -10 for more breathing room but if your signal is too weak bump it up to +4.
Please help me sir! On the jc-120(in series), when you run a stereo return on the effects loop, do stereo effects like ping pong delay, or a rotary speaker simulator, go left and right hard panned on the left and right speaker? (like it's chorus)?
@@TheGospelGuitarist Wow, really? So I can use my fancy modern stereo gear (like stereo modulated reverb or stereo tremolo or ping pong delay) plugged through the Roland's fx loop and mic up both speakers live and it will create a stereo effect through the pa, even without the chorus on?
@@TheGospelGuitarist If you're positive on this, god bless you and I need a jc now! Ha. Stereo wet/dry/wet but only needing two amps to do it...(jaw drops)
@@TheGospelGuitarist Awesome!! I love you. I've gotten used to two amps but could NEVER EVER do three, and now this will re-enable stereo ! (As I've come to prefer wet/dry to stereo, much thicker tones)
They work the same but are in parallel. So you are blending sounds into the main sound in the amount your want. vs just being in line with the original sound. The pedals are not referred to as series or parallel themselves, just the way you hook them up.
You're welcome! The older ones are nice but if I were to buy one today it would to be the JC-40. JC-120 is a heavy beast. If you like processors for your tones, theJC-40 is designed to work with the modern stuff.
Im assuming you have a stereo rig. If you have a mono amp why ask that question when you have no left and right? You need a stereo rig to hear stereo effects in stereo.
Hey Buddy....thanks.....i got a jc120 also......can you dig a bit more into it........i don't intend to act stupid but.........i almost get it........ill check manual and vids more.......
Finally a clear explanation and demo. Thank you so much !
This is the best explanation ever!
Great explanation! Thank you! 🙏🏼 Best I’ve seen so far!
Awesome! Thank you.
Thanks! new to electrics and getting lost. great video. Again, thanks for sharing.

Agreed. The distortion pedals need to be placed before the gain stage, in front of the amp.
Thank you for sharing this video sir!
I learned from your video!
God bless you!
You are very welcome
Awesome exploration 👊😊👍
Thank you 👍
Thank you for the explanation, sir

In parallel mode i hear a phasing issue like the signal is lost in some frequencies, my amp is a roland

Perfect explanation!!!.....Thanks man!!!
Glad it helped!
Series and Parallel effects loops explained.
Thanks for the good explanation!
Glad it was helpful!
Now I understand! Thank you, brother!
Glad to help!
Hello. Thanks for the video. I also see that you have a level switch +4db vs... What does that do? Is that related to the gear you plug in? Thanks

Yep! Or even a rack unit/ floor processor.

GREAT VIDEO!
Glad you enjoyed it
Helpful video, thanks. Have you used any parallel loop pedals? Or just the parallel loop on your amp? Do parallel loop pedals work the exact same way?

Hellz Yea butha..... Great explination! Thank you!
Glad to help
what is the exact model of the amp you're using?
+l3ertuz Roland JC-120
+TheGospelGuitarist Thank you!
Thank you for that.
thank you, that amp is on my list, maybe the new jc-40

I have a new JC-40. It’s awesome. It has stereo inputs now.
Awesome! Congratulations!
Interesting demo! Something to think about!
Good explanation without all the .... you know what.
So if i plug a ping pong delay into the effects loop in stereo will the delays go from left to right?
They do that anyway.
TheGospelGuitarist not on a mono amp
Im assuming you have a stereo rig. If you have a mono amp why ask that question when you have no left and right? You need a stereo rig to hear stereo effects in stereo.
TheGospelGuitarist i asked because i thought the inputs at the front were mono
Awesome
It was NOT bad🙂
thank you for the help .

Parallel loop...meh. Really don't see the point. Just more unnecessary mixing
the way I understand it, you don't have to power up the pedal to just use the guitar....otherwise you have to turn on the pedal or pull the jacks.....
you don't wash the tone and guitar harmonics because of digital fxs when using parallel mode!
