This is punjabi, even though i understand Punjabi to some extent, as a native Urdu speaker i have similar issues with punjabi, when i try to map words to urdu words. Dhol is Drum in urdu and punjabi both, but its also a term of endurement in punjabi, so "meray dhol" is "my love" and yes the english translation is paraphrased to make sense.
I actually have a very funny example of punjabi urdu misstranslation ofthe song "mundeya tu bach ke rahi" (the song from the Dictator movie trailer). I was explaining the song to some caucasian friends. The word "tu" in urdu is informal "you" , so i translated the title as "Boys, YOU save yourself/be aware". Later i got to know that the word was punjabi, and it means "from" . So the actual translation was "save yourself from boys". Man that was embarassing, i got it completely opposite.
Lovely reaction👌 (although the sound of the song went missing a few times…) Pls also react to Tu Jhoom by the same season… its a beautiful spiritually empowering Sufi song you would love it👍🏻
@@IJayReaction happened to me when I listened to the Balochi song Kana Yaari it had some words similar to urdu as well like gadaari, dost, dushman etc. Pretty cool
A different video in terms of music and sounds, it was wonderful, and the language is new to our hearing, but it is close to the heart, although the translation will not give the full meanings. Well done
This song is mostly in Punjabi not in Urdu so you got a few words wrong when trying to pronounce them reading in Urdu.. Punjabi is written in Urdu Alphabets so even though you were trying to read them as Urdu, actually the words were in Punjabi so you pronounced them incorrectly :). Having said that, you get an "A" for the effort and the fact that you actually try to understand that content is amazing and very appreciable. A great reaction nevertheless. And you are right the English translation is below par.
Also the lyrics in this songs punjabi itself is paraphrased alot, so to understand it one has to understand the context. Similar to spanish lyrics in Macarena, where according to my spanish friends, the lyrics are not in proper language, and use a lot of abbreviations and paraphrasing.
This song is not in Urdu brother, its in Punjabi. Punjabi is a separate language, it does have many similarities with Urdu but the pronunciation is very different in Punjabi.
Urdu is closer in language to Farsi. Panjabi too has a lot from old Farsi but also developed local slang and dialect over hundreds of years prior to Urdu. Urdu adopted more recent Farsi language. Both Urdu and Punjabi got much of Farsi influence due to Muslim teachers mostly coming over from Fars. As well as ripple effects into local legal systems, education, art, poetry. Although commerce was happening between these lands and beyond on either side for thousands of years. Nevertheless, you may not pick too much of Farsi in the Panjabi lang they’re speaking

The song is primarily in Punjabi, and Punjabi is heavily influenced by Farsi as the west bank of the Indus river was part of greater Persia.
