Very informative for the little tweaks I need to make to my form. New something felt off when I dod this exercise today, elbows to wide, wasnt shrugging at the top. Thanks buff dude, trying to stay buff over here
Hey guys did it hurt? When you dropped down from Asgard ;)
that form gave me a literal chub. good man
im a beginner in the gym and really enjoy your vids. all information is given quickly and thoroughly. thanks guys!
How is your journey going, fellow gym brah 😍
This was perfekt! I just started doing seated dumbbell press shoulders! great video!
Hey thank you dude. I always leaned back for shoulder press seated. Thank you.
I just did this workout today, you can really feel immediate results
Best tutorial on youtube I’ve seen of this exercise yet! I could really feel that isolated shoulder movement working it’s magic …& btw Im using your “2023 At Home Gym Plan” & it’s absolutely fantastic so far! The Exercise template is perfect & the plan is motivating me & inspiring me to get BUFF so thank you so much for all that you guys do!
I love these dudes so much ... Thanks for all the tutorials ❤❤❤
I've had much help from your How-To's!
Just a tip: Use an equalizer and find the frequency for the AC and smother it.
Thanks "buff (insert character from popular media)", straight and to the point 👍
Thank you buff dude, for this.
Can you make a video on Incline Dumbbell press.
when doing shoulder press i always have some pressure on my elbows, how can i relieve it?
Thanks for the tutorial,Logan.
akua kai nice!!!
Thank you so much Buff dudes
can you guys do a video for flat dumbbell press ?
Woah Woah. DON'T retract the scapula? Who are you and what have you done with the buffdudes?!
😂😂😂 holy fuck
this is not a benchpress..
Oh, really? I thought this was barbell curl tutorial. Waste of my fucking time!
Because it just makes getting the weight up easier. This is bodybuilding not powerlifting so training specific muscles is more important than getting up as much weight as possible.
Where's Lewis the anabolic monster? #MonstersDoExist #Killit
Won't the angle of torso depend on the degree of shoulder external rotation a person can achieve? Those who cannot externally rotate all the way should probably set the seat back at a slight incline.
Subbed. Took notes bro, good vid.
Is it possible to hold the dumbbells forward instead of sideways? What's the difference?
Thanks for info
Anyone suggest a weight to start out at for these presses? I assume light?
Well done!
Great video,do more back, the little forgot muscles, erector spinea, rhomboideus minor, serratus posterior, and others :-).
Very good. Thanks.
Iit's really similar to incline bench and incline bench doesn't work your posterior delts
Can you guys please make a movie with foam rolling movements ?
Brilliant!
Awesome vid
I've plateaued on this exericse badly and I'm not sure how to make improvements. I can managearound 8-10 reps of 20kg dumbells but only manage 3 reps on 22.5kg (And thats on a good day). I've switched up my shoulder workouts a lot but Im not making any improvements on this yet I am making steady progression on all my other exercises. Any tips for getting stronger with this exercise ? Hopefully you can give some advice on this, thanks :)
Work your rear delts. With facepulls. Most people have weak rear delts. They wonder why they can't press properly, but only two of the three parts of the shoulder are strong enough to do it in most people.
So Buff Dudes, the seated dumbbell press hits all 3 heads of the shoulders?
should i retract the scapula or not?
Which is better barbell or dumbell?
Should I tuck my elbows in?
That beard is coming out real good! Although I would recommend shaping up the sides
Thanks dude :)
Do Overhead Presses work all 3 heads at the same level? I just wanna make sure my Rear delts are hit as much(if not more) as my Fronts.
no, rear delt isnt going to do work here, its just for stabilization. the focus here is on the front delt
0% rare delts
and side delt?
would you recommend the Arnold press in the same position? a 180 deg rotation through the press? its supposed to work all three heads of the deltoid. its one i prefer for dumbbells and do a straight military press with a barbell.
They have the Arnold press somewhere in their video playlists.
You have to *pull* to really hit your rear delts. Cable Facepulls or band face pulls. Or both.
What kind of gel do you use man.
I can see the buffgains. T-shirt start to look small.
Keep up the good work!
Greetings from Sweden.
Im curious how you guys got partnered up. family member maybe or did lewis seek you out
hey buff dudes, how about the elbows facing to the front? I feel like you use a very externally rotated position from the very bottom which may lead to impingement as far my experience goes.
would be glad to hear your answer :)
The short answer is that 90 degrees in either direction is bad, and that you should probably aim for a 45 degree angle or so. I'll elaborate though. Elbow directly in front causes damage over time because elbow pointing straight ahead requires internal rotation of shoulder. Internal rotation + raising arm straight up = no real chance for shoulder to roll back, which is a requirement for arms over head safely. Similarly external rotation of shoulder to a 90 degree angle will also cause impingement because of shoulder ball and socket pressing into back. Optimal placement is gonna be different for everyone, but go with your body on this one. Try putting your hands above your head and slowly dropping them down by only bringing your elbows straight down. For me this is roughly a 45 degree angle.
EDIT: I'd also like to add that the overhead press is basically a bench press but over your head. These same rules apply for the bench press as well, and many experts will tell you keep elbows at about 45 degrees in that exercise as well.
Happen to me shoulder should be facing the front little bit I learned that the hard way spent next 3 months in physiotherapy
Kevin Blank Is it ok to do this while standing it’s because i can’t go to a gym
Stay Buff 2022! 💪
the reason why i look buff is because of you guys
same here. they are amazing
Awesomeness
So you are bringing your elbows slightly below the 90 degree mark?
What is a good weight to start at? And for each set do you add weight? Ex.10 reps 50,8 reps 65, 5 reps 80?
Really need help getting going...
A good weight to use?
Ignore the number on the side of the weight. You do not choose a weight to use, let your body tell you the weight to use. If you want to do ten reps, use a weight that you can complete ten with. 99% of people just pick up weights with no idea if they're heavy or not and just struggle with the excercise. Form is key.
So do you retract the scapula for this one?
Im confused
Slightly
Where's Louis ? :(
David Arbour getting ready for his next big Netflix role
Damn you making it look easy with this weights, I can barely handle 35 pounds for 8-12 reps :D
Cuz it's too heavy then.
Cool thx
Brandon, are you going to play the role of the new Kratos? Hence the beard? maybe?
Looking great man!!
He's actually already been Kratos, for an advert of on of the spin off games I think. Just look up "Brandon White Kratos"
Yes, I've seen that commercial and that's exactly why I asked him if he was planning to act again as Kratos. He justified Kratos' character.
nice
Does this one exercise really work all three parts of the shoulder? Or do certain positions matter like wide vs close.
Pressing 60-pound dumbbells like they are nothing. Safe to say this dude is pretty strong.
Do Arnold press next
I suggest using a bench that you can set up a little bit declined with full back support, in order to keep the shoulders in a natural position throughout the lift, with light weights you will be able to perform the exercise either way, once you start lifting heavy you are risking shoulder injury, I have been there, form and a proper set up will save you trips to the doctors and missed gym days, and overall health of your joints, be smart, an injured rotator cuff is not a pleasant experience
Watch this space Lui will be a best soon 💪
bro you look like a buff Jim Hopper
Looks like Bryce Harpers older brother! Lol
I like how I got the time to do this exercise daily but I dont
hahaha
A female dude is a dudette. They deserve their respect.
Oh my
I usually stand up when I do Dumbbell Press.
First day impressions:It arrived in a waist high box. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxP26Tir6n60vUkdtn4mbwhRO8cwuJQNy2 Each dumbbell was in its own foam box within the shipping box. Everything was secure and in good shape. No weird smells. The weight changing mechanism is really smooth and straight forward. Changing weight is really fast and easy. Though the handle is plastic, I don't think it will be breaking anytime soon. So far pretty impressed after my first session with them. I was afraid they were going to be too wide at first, but I didn't have any issues with them while doing upright rows.
How can I still build muscle and lose weight? I do wrestling but I also want to build muscle so it makes it hard to keep my muscles from feeling milky
Obi-Juan Kenobi after 14 you can start lifting , at least is what I believe
13-14
Whenever
Chose one and do the next later ! If you are fat you should probably lose weight, if you are slightly chubby ( not fat but a with a little of belly fat) you should put on some muscle first
just dont eat too many calories but eat a decent amount of protein when it comes to food, and do heavy weight training. I've lost me 30lbs since August and am WAY stronger than i was before the weight loss, lol. Losing fat and gaining muscle is possible, it's just harder than doing 1 at a time.
Thank you, Bryce Harper!
Lol 😂😅 🤣
i can't press straight over head without arching my back turning it into an incline
Co Ja shoulder and thoracic spine mobility drills m8! That'll help
go lighter
Co Ja Because you're lifting too much weight. Stop ego lifting and lower the weight.
Probably has nothing to do with the weight, just needs more mobility in the shoulders, go watch Alan Thralls video about shoulder mobility (Its on Omar Isufs channel)
Lightweight, baby!
beard look nice on you
or delts ;)
You look like a buff version of jim hopper and john krasinski lol
Buff John Krasinski...Jk, a very helpful tutorial.
no Luis? 😐
Big Lewie has school and baseball practice. :)
nice form brota. i sick of see exactly what you say most of people dont do shoulder press but incline bench press is pathetic lol
can someone please tell me if it's best to have a 90 degree bench angle or 80 degrees
90 degrees as any angle less will start working your chest.
are you going to get jay for what he did to you guys.
lol that chair looks so small
Hair!
Bryce Harper. A swole Bryce Harper.
Call them Tien shoulders
Jesus, I can barely bench press 60lb dumbbells, meanwhile Brandon reps out a dozen shoulder presses with 60s like it's nothing. Some of us were never meant to be strength athletes, I guess
Jeff Butterfield you got to start somewhere he’s been working out for 12 years it’s kinda normal that he lifts a lot more than you
First!
Well, not really. Top comment.
Bryce Harper?
How has nobody pointed out that this is terrible form? His elbows are completely flared out at a 90 degree angle which creates impingement of the rotator cuff...
Vince Lam because it's not
I agree
Vince Lam Dumbell should be more infront
Yeah should be more in front or use a bench at ~80 degree incline. That being said 90 degree will most likely only hurt you if your inflexible or not careful but then again thats most people who lift weights
wow those dumbbells are awfully big for 5kg ;)
Over the shoulder boulder holder = Bra
When people will realize that over head press doesn't work your posterior delt ?
What about side delt? enough to make it grow?
Honestly Gagan I do shit ton of side delt both cable and dumbbell and it doesnt do shit for my side delt.
Im not sure if its really genetics cuz my front delt looks really big compared to side and rear delt so im sure those two muscles can be just as big as my front delt, but I do the regular side delt cables and dumbbell version but somehow I dont hit them good enough and no other exercise hit the side delt like the side laterals so im lost lol...I might try kettlebell overhead press heard it hits ur shoulder in a different way I heard.
High reps for the lateral delts. I do seated side raises with about 20% of my max weight on shoulder press, I do 5 reps, hold for 5 seconds, then 4 reps and hold for 4 seconds all the way down to 1 rep for 1 second. Rest for about 90 seconds and go again. When the weight is too heavy for manage at least half of the reps done, drop the weight a small amount and go again. keep doing all this until failure. Make sure to never lift your shoulders while doing the movement, and use no momentum at all, go slow on the lowering part of the motion too. Trust me you'll make instant improvements in your look.
Thanks Mike I will try this tomorrow!
play this with your eyes closed
first
i need some vidoes to work the gluts, but not look too gay doing them in the gym.
Ed Jimenez deadlifts
Deadlifts and squats.
let me say this slowly. when you do seated dumbbell presses with your arms at 90degrees and externally rotated you are impinging your supraspinatus tendon. look up impingement syndrome or Google Doug brignole.
