    This is a really great idea! I hate moving to my big ironing board, but it is so necessary. This is a great option for smaller projects.

    Great project ! This is better then the small ironing boards because these are flat & low not high & raised. So much more comfortable. Thanks a bunch Mimi 😘

    Last trip to Home Depot, I saw a bin of plywood "scraps" leftover from cuts made in the store. Think that's where I'll start my search. Thank you for this very informative tutorial 👍!

      They're cheap, and you might be able to get them to cut it for you for a small fee.

    What’s the name of the little mini iron that you’re using

    I like this idea. I bought a new iron along with material to make masks (my dog chewed through the cord of my old iron). But I didn't buy an ironing board. And I didn't see any mini ironing boards that I liked. So I can just make my own. Thank you for showing how it's done. Btw, your nails are pretty.

    I did one similar t oi this, last year. I used felt fabric, and a snack tray table. When I'm done seeing fir the day, I fold it up and put it away in my craft room. I like the idea if using the cutting board. I can use the top to one if my broken tray tables. Then I can pit it in my sewing cart when I "sew and go." Thanks for your tip.

    I love this!!!!! I am not only a seamstress but also a quilter. This is just perfect for my needs. I am going to a quilt retreat next month and think I need to make one of these for that. Thanks for a great tutorial.........I do have one suggestion. I worked in a picture framing shop years ago and learned how to stretch canvas on frames. You start on one side and put the staple in the center, Then go to the other side and pull and put your second staple. Now go to one end and tug in the center and add the 3rd staple and opposite side 4th staple. Now work your way out one staple on each side of these all around.............in the end it will lay very flat and there will be no ripples...............I noticed that when you did the long sides there were a few waves along the end and this will prevent that.

    Probably a dumb question, but when you say “give it a press” about the cork board backing, do you mean with an iron or just literally press it down??

    • @kristensmith9819
      @kristensmith9819 3 роки тому +1

      "Pressing" is slightly different from "ironing" in that you aren't trying to get out the wrinkles, you are pushing down and concentrating on the seams to make them nice and crisp.

    I used to have one next to sewing machine on the sewing table but then my mother sent me her is Bernina that is taking up that space. With 3 machines I decided to convert an Ikea raskog cart. With an the small Ikea ironing board I already had. But instead of screwing down the board to the top upside basket as others did per Instagram i choose to add a hinge under the board so that I wouldn't lose the basket space. I love it cause it's on wheels, and depending on which machine I may be using I can just grab and drag it over. There are times I'm using multiple machines in the same project.
