I have been listening to Alabama shakes for a while, never really learning much about the band, or the great Howard herself. Her humbleness is beautiful, her heart is real, and she is one hell of an individual!
They never sought to be famous, they made music because they loved it, it was in their souls, they are ARTISTS. And whether or not the world ever caught on to them didn’t matter, as long as they could do it and still pay the rent and buy some groceries, and keeping “the water and power on”(shout out to Don’t Wanna Fight😉). I respect the hell out of them. And their music is absolutely phenomenal. They’re in it for the right reasons, and it’s not fake, or fame, or money-it’s artistic expression. It’s having something to say and give. And that’s exactly why their music is so powerful and soulful. Because it comes from a pure place; it comes from their souls.❤️
“I didn’t have lofty ambitions...I was like, how am I gonna make a world that’s gonna be just okay that I can live in” Damn. Now I want to hear everything she has to say.
I'm still coming to terms with the fact that she and her band exist. It's been a long time. I'm not so young anymore, and almost conceded to the idea that that genre (at that level) was extinct. Music made famous has improved so so much over the past few years after what seemed like at least a generation of mostly wasted talent. Awesome also that Pharrell knows who (what) is sitting right next to him. She is the real deal. Her talent is overwhelming, and that band is everything they're cracked up to be.
When I listen to her song sound and color, I just think about God. Like not like this biblical sense or religious, but like the universe and just existence, and our lack of understanding, and how small and insignificant we are in this world. Like, just how big everything around us is, it feels humbling to me.
+Yes Honey Yes I love this, because whenever I used to tell people about Alabama Shakes and my friends would ask me what they sounded like, I would just say, "God. Their music sounds like God." :)
What a refreshingly natural and down-to-earth interview from all three participants. No pretentiousness or narcissism - a model for young musicians everywhere. But of course, Brittany's emergence has come organically, playing local clubs and she seems to retain that no-need-to-show-off, let the music do the talking feel.
I found out she went to the same school as me but she's younger than me so I didnt really know her but I listened to them for the first time last night and I loved it!!!
Today is my first time listening to the shakes and I've got to say I love them!! i feel like she channels Joplin, and I've always loved Janice, don't ever tell my mom but this girl has a better voice!
Interview was too short. I want more. I like Pharrell being in the room too makes me feel like I’m hanging out with you guys when I watch. Congrats to Alabama Shakes and Brittany on the Grammy win.
I. Love. This. Woman. If she DOESN'T put every part of her own soul into her work, she's a pretty awesome fake!!! I don't usually listen to "pop music" ... I have two 20 something's and a 19 year old. All. Girls. I grew up on a little of EVERYTHING!!! Probably mostly "blues" ... so SHE brings my OWN soul "out to play" as does Joss Stone. Please keep up this work ... which, in my opinion, cannot be managed by many else!!!
I wonder has any body ever told her she has the sound of Big Mama Thornton she also played the harmonica with her singing the blues .....they both have a special style and sound too much alike........
I have been feeling like for the longest that she was my family - now to know that we share the same last name. Someone call me cause I love my family!
She's so chill and humble. I met after a concert and she's amazing.
did you wait by the bus or something?
She is a person like champion tennis player naomi Osaka .
2 mixed race persons with a wide talent and they are very humble.
SHE REAL AF, SHE WORE THE ADIDAS SLIPS FOR THE INTERVIEW
I could listen to her talk all day. Her voice is so graceful.
I just love the fact that she's this big beautiful black woman that commands attention when she enters the room. And everyone loves her🤘🏿
stfu
No that’s not it
She's a legend but she doesn't feel like it... That's how TRUE legends are.... They just do what they do amazingly and have fun doing it
Exactly that, she's amazing
I already liked the band but it's good to know the lead singer seems like a cool person as well.

I love her and I love her band so much, they are the type of band I've been looking for all my life. Their style is so 🙌🙌🙌🙌 I can't even explain

Spot on, me too. ❤️
Besides being an amazing singer/songwriter, she is so authentic, humble & thoughtful!

+Yes Honey Yes Have you watched the video? It actually presents that sort of idea. Check it out! xx
WanderingOldSoul I have, the video is awesome as well. It's how I got the feeling when i listen to the song.
***** I had a feeling it was! It's a great video!!
What do you mean by "not in the biblical sense"?
I love how down to earth Brittany and her bandmates are . You can tell that the southern congeniality is still vibing deep in them.
Love her music. She also plays SGs. My favorite guitar in the world!!
She wearing slippers... I fucks with that lol
I love how she doesn't give a fuck about Pharell at the beggining of the interview, she's great!!!!

Music Lives Again. Thank you Alabama Shakes!!!!!
think brittneys the most real warm humble and and open person that i see in interviews.she really is wonderful !
I was introduced to the song Sound and Color, and I was sold! Props to the band but I am in awe of her lyricism. I miss writing. Thank you
that moment when she said "obviously found something else to do, i drank drugged lil bit"
She killed it on their original SNL performance Hold On. Thats when I first heard them. Dope
the other two can't even handle your groundedness, they shook
I pray she stays this humble
Natalia same
she will. You can just feel it...
Natalia she's from a swamp in Athens, Alabama. I think she'll take that with her wherever she goes.
I saw them in Chicago at subterranean years ago!!! there was a really cool commercial that featured them.
I found out she went to the same school as me but she's younger than me so I didnt really know her but I listened to them for the first time last night and I loved it!!!
Hopefully she inspires all her fans to be this humble
Man she's... just... unbelievable.
More videos, thank you good people @OTHERtone
Today is my first time listening to the shakes and I've got to say I love them!! i feel like she channels Joplin, and I've always loved Janice, don't ever tell my mom but this girl has a better voice!

I LOVE HER FUCKING SANDALS
What a beautiful person. Her music is pretty good also. LOL
I really hope she can reconsider her career move to do solo and goes back to the band that made her famous and so likable.
The base player was like, travel? Heck no, I better keep my day job, I like to eat. Little did he know. Oh well, hope he changed his mind.
Please tell me WHY she's so unappreciated?
me and my home girl Christina went to school with her
love her cause she mention Michael Jackson
I love her!!
: )
Pharrell eyes. Is he on weed?
he injects devil lettuce on the daily
The interviewer on the left is mad spaced out...seems very inarticulate and his research clearly shows he only watched some youtube interviews.
I have been feeling like for the longest that she was my family - now to know that we share the same last name.
Someone call me cause I love my family!
This is awkward! Why they all speaking so soft and slow lol
Not that Alabama Shakes is bad I just don't consider them rock.
+Bryan Henry }Yeah, because their a blues rock band mixed with some neo-soul.
+Bryan Henry Yeah I consider them more like the original form of rock.
+SummertimeFine95 I agree, like how rock was before they stole it from us.
Kelsey Lovelace Yes girl. I'm glad you caught the subliminal shade. lol.
Well, at least I have my heavy rock and metal. Rock as an overall genre has been on a decline the last 12-15 years.
