      How about a 1970 Montgomery Ward's 14 Gilson riding lawn mower. Whether 1970 Briggs and Stratton cast iron engine 14 horsepower. I Am restoring one. Finding it hard to find engine parts. I need all gaskets and seals.

    There are two options, or parts, that will keep your belt from falling off. One is a stud with a round end bolted to the engine. The second is a belt guard that bolts around the upper drive pulley. The belt is the weak spot in the drivetrain, so be sure to stay in low gears when pushing or pulling or the belt will get shredded.

    • @jameshayes6885
      @jameshayes6885 3 роки тому +1

      Yeah the belt came off due to me going into the pile in third gear rather than first. The reason the belt sticks is due to the pulleys being powered coated, mistakes made 😂

    Love the restoration however, the heavy exhaust pipes look like an accident waiting to happen in my eyes. I think I would try to find a way to either find or fabricate a bracket that would look good and blend in which bolts somewhere close the exhaust outlet and helps take some of the load off of the exhaust port threads. Also, not just the weight of the exhaust pipe alone but if you were to hit a low hanging branch or catch the exhaust pipe on something it could possibly crack the block where the pipe threads in. Just a thought 👍

    • @MachineryNation
      @MachineryNation  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you Jeff. We have since installed the locking nut to the exhaust elbow so it’s nice and secure now. If it hits a tree the worse case scenario would be it will loosen as the threads are counter clockwise. We really appreciate your advice as a bracket would of achieve the same 👍🏼
