DFW area needs this. I tried getting around Dallas without a car one day for "fun" and explore public transportation. What a nightmare. Walking for hours, long waits for a bus caught in the rain. This metroplex needs to up their game on public transportation and this will only help. I wish DART had an app that would make it easy to use the system. Google maps sucks for this.
I love how car-crazy Texas is beginning to lead America on rapid transit construction. Hopefully Dallas can also improve walkability and cycling infrastructure near stations, and improve local bus lines that connect with DART.
I read in a newspaper a few months ago that supposedly they (the city, not necessarily dart) are building more walk/ biking trails and so far i see it. Noticed some construction in various aresa for trails like that
Only 10 seconds in and: 1 - It's not an extension. It's entirely new DART service. 2 - It's DART's 2nd East-West commuter rail line. The TRE is 50% owned by DART. If that doesn't count then this is the first DART commuter rail line.
It boggles the mind that anyone would think of building a light rail without having a frequent bus network and TOD for it to connect to. In Canadian cities, every train station connects to an area people want to go to or local buses that come every 5-15 minutes. This often includes BRT and Express bus services that connect to destinations on the edge of the urban area. The fact remains that the Dallas North Tollway is just sitting there, and it's a perfect express bus corridor - it's a lost opportunity, and an easy fix.

“Completion date nears”…? Mid-2026 is not “nearing” at all. This title makes it seem like the line’s going to open next year or something.
I read late 2025.
Sure are taking there sweet ass time..
Can the far north suburbs get a shuttle bus or something. Frisco prosper etc needs something

@RoboJules please say something to them please
Those cities have to choose to participate in DART.
mid 2026? lol! we may have Hyperloop operating by then in other cities.... this line was originally planned to be fully operational in 2020
Literally the most pointless line ever. What a waste of a billion dollars. Couldn’t even electrify the line either
They’re building a lot in cypress waters and planing to build a lot of development right next to UTD
2 billion
at least it's somthin'...
