  • In this video we explore the northern portion of Dallas Area Rapid Transit's Red Line, part of DART's extensive light rail network in Dallas, Texas. Beginning at Parker Road station in Plano, we travel south down the line, through Richardson and into Dallas, ending our trip at Union Station in downtown. Highlights include fast running through the suburbs of Plano and Richardson, an extended stop at underground Cityplace/Uptown station, Dealey Plaza, and trains traveling through the streets of downtown Dallas. A mix of onboard and trackside views allows you to experience the entire ride from a number of vantage points along the way.

      @MysticGoddess0728 also of note, the only rail service in Fort Worth is the TRE and TexRail, both of which are essentially intercity rail lines to dallas and DFW airport respectively. Trinity metro only operates buses.

    With the upcoming release (tomorrow, 15th December 2022) of another raft of documents regarding the JFK Assassination I've been dipping back into things JFK-related, as I have done every once in a while in my life since I first became really aware of it as a twelve-year-old on its tenth anniversary, that being magnified when the 'Sunday Times' Colour Supplement published an analysis of the Zapruder film coinciding more or less with it being shown on 'Good Night America' just under a couple or so years later.
    It's only over this past couple of days that I've really thought about what the Triple Overpass does these days and was amazed to discover that it had been converted into part of a light rail system so I wondered if there'd be a video of a tram journey taking in the Overpass so thanks, Bobby, for this excellent video. Another thing that has struck me - as well as the impression I've been reading about that Dealey Plaza is a lot smaller than people imagine - is how steep a slope it is down towards the Overpass, when I've hitherto imagined the area as more or less flat.
    You might like to know that, as a part-time mature undergraduate in the 1990s, I studied Geography at my home city university of Derby (UK), specialising in Transport Geography and did my Final-Year Project as a combination of that and my additional subject (German) looking at comparable public transport systems in Germany (Aachen, Hagen and Krefeld), volunteering earlier during my time at UoD at the workshops of the nearby Crich Tramway Village and later beginning the unfortunately unsuccessful campaign to have Charles Herbert Aslin's ground-breaking Art Deco bus and coach station in Derby saved from demolition. Given the similarly 1930s origins of Dealey Plaza it's very welcome to see this part of its infrastructure used for public transport-related purposes. It betokens a city that values its architectural heritage.

      I never thought I'd be into it either until you spend enough time time in traffic only then do we start to realize the marvel of efficient transportation. Although dart isn't fast at all just the possibility of having a metro system like Chicago or maybe NYC but in Texas is almost unthinkable. Might actually be true in less than a decade hopefully.

      I recommend looking at their maps to pick your place to live. The bus network is getting redesigned. The system is really good at bringing you to some places but not others. The denser the area, the better options you have for bus. Not all train stations are conveniently accessible by foot. So you should try to live near one.
      I live near one, and it's great. I can walk to the train station, get off, then take a bus to get the rest of the way to work.
      The trains run on schedule, and DART has a lot of good future plans and the agency is on the right track for sure

      Our goal is to attract more people from around the country _because_ our taxes are _insanely_ low, *so* we’re meeting the demand and influx of people by building mixed-use developments made up of apartments, condos, offices and shopping centers. Plus, any areas along the light rail system in need of renovations.

    Lost riders last year (again) and as you can see, lot's of low ridership trains. Unless you live near the tracks/station be prepared to burn lots of time. COVID has shown how risky and vulnerable these systems are. The cost is INSANE, and the continuing operating and maintenance costs are outrageous. Notice how much faster the cars are going on the nearby freeway, even when the train is going all out - and they come from home and go to the final destination without the need for yet another leg of public transportation and all its waits and stops. One word - inconvenient!

      ProjectReject certainly not faster to drive when there's the inevitable accident on the interstate and you've never ridden pre covid because it's normally pretty packed come rush hour
      Also there's been very few instances of covid transmissions being traced back to public transportation and also just don't ride if you don't want to no one is making you

    • @projectreject3889
      @projectreject3889 3 роки тому +2

      @@AmericansAlwaysFree Most of the time there is no accident and most of the time the train is empty. The system lost ridership in 2018, 2019 and is devastated today. These systems are too inconvenient except for the few who live nearby and are going somewhere the FIXED route takes them. These trains, with rare exception are grossly overpriced dinosaurs in the coming mobility era. Yes, no one is making me ride (not that I would want to with all the time it takes to use it, the crime, bums and exposure to pathogen), they ARE however making me pay for something I don't use and in reality provides little benefit, a benefit that is in decline.

      @@projectreject3889 I'm not one of those "OMG cars are evil" people, but transit riders pay for freeways too. Also, chill out on the Howard Hughes routine (Germs, they're everywhere!). I thought Texans were supposed to be sensible about the Great Coof Hoax.
