Excellent instruction, step by step, so those of us who need it can understand the methods. Great job! Lee
& for those that use safe on switch A, u can go into forward programming & assign safe to ANY switch u want. OR u can assign crow to any other switch too in the mix setup menu.
Thanks. Well-made. Best 6channel explanation on UA-cam.
Thanks for the "how to"
I needed that.
Np. Thanks for watching!
Thank you. I successfully configured crow on my Fox V2 with a Spektrum 6 Channel. Have Safe also active
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for tuning in!
Great tips and nice flying. Will try to modify some of my 6 channels planes to have Crow mode.
It's simple, you can do it. Thanks!
Thanks so much for this!
Glad you enjoy it. Thanks.
Great tip. Easy to follow video. Thanks
Thanks! Hope u can have fun in the field with crow mode!
Wow, that was a very easy to understand instructional video. It saves me some money too. Great job... I hope you do more of these kind of video. Keep it up. 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching and I hope it helps you 🤣🤣🤣.
Nice work! thank you for the video!
Hope u install it and enjoy your flights.
Well done
Thanks. If you have an existing 6 channels plane, you should try it and not only landing, fly around with CROW on also.
Yes COOL ! Thanks
Thanks! Hope u can set crow on your plane and have fun with it!
Thank you
👍👍Thanks for tuning in!
Nice 👍
nice 👍,. when we mix flap+crow do i ned to mix elevator together? .like how we mix flap and elevator together..i would like to try the flap+crow mixing on my cessna..tq
I haven't try that but you can try it if u have another extra switch. For example, do crow mix as in the video and assign switch A, and then you can enable the mix flap and elevator in existing mix menu (I think 3rd item) to another switch say switch E. And then flip both switch A and K on and try it. Good luck.
With flaps on, if u already have elevator mixed in with flaps, elevator will default to the flap settings mix on crow.
With crow, your adding glider spoilers from both ailerons going upwards, instead of neutral.
Thanks, i hv try out the flap+crow mixing it help to slow down the plane while landing, is good 👍🤝
@@Danial-ou5xd Great. Have fun!

Awesome. Thanks for sharing. Is there any way to set crow when using a reflex system of FMS
Also i am having a retractable gear so i use channel 5 for the gear. I am using an 8 channel receiver, could crow be still done while keeping the reflex system? Thanks
Thanks for this video... What first settings do you suggest for aileron and flaps?
I usually fly my Valiant using Mid rate, and my rate settings are as follows. Thanks.
For aileron low rate: rate=50%, Expo=15%, Mid rate: rate=70%, Expo=15%, Hi Rate: rate=90%, Expo=20%.
For Takeoff flap Flap=30%, Elev=10%. For Landing flap: Flap=90%, Elev=20%.
Can you help explain what is the point of moving flaps to Chanel 5? In my mind, you could just move the left aileron to the empty port 5, and leave the flaps alone where they are. But please let me know why/why not, thanks a lot! PS: On this video, did you reconfigure "flap system" to Chanel 5 after making the crow changes? I think I missed that. Thanks!
You should be able to do your way. For my way, in the transmitter setup of channel assign screen/Rx port assignment, the setup was already Flap for Channel 5. For your way, make sure it has Flap to channel 6. Let me know if work out for you.
Great instructions and very clear, thank you! I did this on my DX8 and a Calypso powered glider. Everything works except now SAFE and AS3X only affect the right aileron and the elevator, not the left aileron. Any ideas on what is wrong?
Could you check out my long explanation in the xhawkchief thread comment as when CROW is ON and SAFE ON, the SAFE feature will have less surface control to work with. Generally, CROW is another feature to try out and usually stunt flying with more accomplish pilot and doesn't make sense to fly CROW with SAFE. But in case when u are in trouble, you can always flip off crow, and flip SAFE on and plane will level back. Thanks.
@@8HrToGo Thanks, yes I did read that explanation. But my problem and my question is that with the left aileron no longer wired to receiver port 2, that side no longer receives stabilization whether crow is on or off. I am using a Spektrum AR631T receiver.
@@billspurlock3362 I see.. bc the old AS3X & SAFE was program based on the 5 ports in receiver, and now we used all 6 channels for CROW, you would have to re-program the AS3X & SAFE again to recognize the new receiver setting. Go to Forward Programming, and do it for both AS3X and SAFE and should be good.
@@8HrToGo OK I finally got it set up with both crow and AS3X/Safe. At first I used the Spektrum Rx USB programmer cable to update my Rx, then I used the update software to reset the Rx. But I still could not access the "first time setup" in forward programming. Finally I chose "Reset Receiver" from the forward programming menu and was then able to configure stabilization. It all works great now, thank you!
@@billspurlock3362 Yes! Great job.. Thanks.
how do you like flying at seaworld, ive been wanting to check out that field
Our flying field next to SeaWorld is an awesome field👍👍 with beautiful scenery and palm trees next to the bay. It can be quite a challenge field bc of the wind. The morning is great with less winds, but afternoon about 2PM onward, you can expect 10-15++ MPH, and crosswind too. The runway is medium length, but a little narrow. You should check it out, and hope to see u there sometimes.
Hi there, after separating the left aileron and putting it on its own channel, SAFE mode no longer tries to level that left aileron. It still levels the right aileron, but not the left. Did you encounter this issue? Thanks
You need to re-program your receiver to recognize the new settings. Do "Reset Receiver" from the forward programming menu and go thru the first time setup in forward programming and you should be able to get it. Other people had comments on this video was able to do it. Good luck and support my channel by SUBSCRIBING. Thanks.
@@8HrToGo The "AR636" Receivers doesn't have "FORWARD PROGRAMMING" (by "HorizonHobby Support Team" !!!!).
Did you employ any flaps while landing with crow?
Hi, the way I set it was when crow mode is on, the flap is down (about 70%, u can set it to 80, 90, 100% up to preference), and aileron is up (about 70%), and while in this crow mode, flap is set and cannot be control anymore, but ailerons are still control by stick movement so you can still roll left or right. And off course when crow mode is off, flap acts as normal before with takeoff flap, landing flap activated by a switch. Hope it answer your question. Thanks.
Interesting video. The only thing that I don’t understand is, how you manage to not having the flaps to go opposite direction of each others. Since they are on a Y cable on mine, the left flap go up and the right go down by default for my default flap system. When I put the MIX when I change the Rate value for ON > FLP on flap go up and the other one down (+ or -). Any suggestions?
Before attempting the crow setup, make sure your default flap system should move in same direction even with Y harness , then you should be able to set it up correctly. On your transmitter servo output, check that your flap are controlled by only 1, not 2 channels.
Indeed without doing your setup, my flaps are inverted. But look in my RX Port Assignments on my NX8, 5 GEAR: Flap
Where do I change so they are not invert when I use the flaps?
Did you buy it as Bind n Fly (BNF). If BNF, it shouldn't be like that. Maybe you should check and reset it. In Aircraft Type, make sure you have your airplane setup as only 1 Airelon, and 1 Flap. If that doesn't work, you should contact HorizonHobby for support.@@jonathanrebecca6498
Can add on hobby egle gyro A3 super 4
I never tried with a Hobby eagle gyro, but I don’t see why not. The idea is setting up and using all 6 channels to get crow mode.. so should be ok. Good luck.
I did everything as you say on this video, but in my E-Flite Turbo Timber EFL15250 with AR636B Receiver it doesn't work weel, it means, In "CROW" Mode the Wright Aileron also MOOVES.
YES, i configured Aircraft Type as "2 Ailerons/1Flap", "left Ailereon" on "6", Flaps on "5", "Mixes" as You say and so on.....
After you changed the "AIRCRAFT TYPE" from "1Ail/1Flap" to "2Ail/1Flap" did you not change the respective "Channel Assign"? "Flaps" from "6" to "5"? I think so, isn't it?
I think it's "something" that "is escaping me", could you please help me? Thank you very much
You might need to reset receiver and Forward Programming. Look for Bill Spurlock's comments.
@@8HrToGo Yes, i did it and what You said about «««have to re-program the AS3X & SAFE again to recognize the new receiver setting. Go to Forward Programming...»»», OK, i understand that very well, but... the Receiver "AR636B" with the my Radio "Spektrum NX10" doesn't have the ability of "FORWARDING PROGRAM" and the answer of "that" by "HorizonHobby - Support Team" was: «««indeed all "AR636" Receivers doesn't have FORWARDING PROPRAM»»»!!!!!! So, my problem of "no sabilization and SAFE on LEFT AILERON" mantains!
You loose any “Safe” mode however?
You can still have SAFE/AS3X. Look for Bill Spurlock's comments as he was able to do it by reset receiver to do Forward Programming.
Nice video but u fail to mention this only works if you don’t have retracts
Thanks for watching! The example is based on the Eflite Valiant which doesn't have gear retract as you can see in the video. For crow mix into airplane with retract, you would need 8 channels. All videos that you see on UA-cam showing crow mixing (such as Viper jet), you would need 8 channels at least.
@@8HrToGo Thank you. I was able to adapt your instructions to use with an eight channel receiver.
@@lwrandall Great! Happy flying!
is your AS3X and Safe still works with Crow
In a way, partially YES and I let me explain by what i mean partially. First of all AS3X will work as normal to smooth out winds/turbulences. Now let talk about plain SAFE. When SAFE is turned on normally without CROW mode and when u are flying and your plane is rolling too much left or right.. SAFE kicks in and compensate the left/right aileron to level plane back to normal. Now say if enable CROW, along with SAFE turn on, and say u had set CROW with both left/right aileron deflect up to like 80%, and flap down (that's what CROW looks like), then when your plane is rolling too much left or right, SAFE kicks in and try to compensate the left/right aileron and it only have 20% adjustment surface to try to level back.. which might work out ok, but if you set CROW left/right aileron to 100%, then SAFE has no adjustment to work with and the plane could be in trouble of trying to level back to normal because SAFE had nothing to work with.
I hope this explain it for you, and remember as I mentioned in the video, CROW is an advanced feature that pilot do stunts with in the air and it doesn't make sense for advance pilot to enable SAFE. If you do play with CROW, fly high up so you can have time to react if trouble. Thanks for watching!
I converted all my 6 channels planes with crow already and they work great! If you are so concern with the safety flying in crow, when you get in trouble, you can always flip off crow, and flip SAFE on and plane will level back.
❤
Thanks!
