From a guy who has never created a helpful video like this ....to you and all the other people that have... Thank You. My daughter and I used a quart sized zip lock baggie to catch the water when unhooking the hose... then did the air compressor from inside the car -> out. We were concerned that blowing air up from under the car, it might push the blockage deeper up the hose.
Another grateful viewer here 🙋♂️. Thank you so much. I went to the gas station and used their air machine to blow under and over and BOOM! problem solved. Thanks man you're the best
I don't own a compressor so initially I tried using a plastic cable tie to clear the blockage - it got about 8 inches in and wouldn't go further, and it didn't reach the blocked point. Then I thought of just using a can of compressed air, and one shot did the trick - water began draining out right away. Thanks for saving me a trip to the garage.
Man, you just saved our vacations... My wife discovered a strange whirring, buzzing sound when going into corners, and she had commented for a few days that the car smelled as if there was quite some moisture inside. So, after the heavy rains the past few days, I thought it might have just been a matter of the inside drying in the Floridian heat. But when the noise kicked in this morning, I thought we had either a broken a/c or some issue with the power steering. Looked it up on UA-cam, and your video was the second or so hit. What you described perfectly worked, so you and our neighbor (a car guy, had some plastic ramps to drive the car up to, and an air compressor as well) saved our vacations that were supposed to start with a 3.5hr drive next week. The amount of water (or whatever that was) coming out after two, three quick blows into the pipe was probably half a gallon or so. The neighbor also gave me a bag of DampRid to hang it inside the car for it to pick up the remaining moisture. Needless to say that this saved my both a trip to the Hyundai dealership, as well as probably quite some cash for a potential "repair"...Tthanks a million!
Thanks so much for the useful info. You just saved me 2+ hours of driving and probably an hour in a half diagnosing and probably a couple hundred dollars. Super easy to fix. Took mine about 5 minutes to fully drain and I think it was leaking from my fan inside. Thank you! I think I found the culprit which was a small cockroach.
Had the same problem with my 2016 Sonata. It was making a swishing sound only when making a left turn. I saw your video and used your method of fixing. Works Great now!!. Thanks for the help!!!
Thanks dude, this is exactly what my 2015 needed. Started leaking water into the cabin after some heavy rains. Followed your steps and about a quart of water drained out after unclogging it. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! Since I didn't have an air compresser, I used a sturdy but flexible plastic strip to unclog the tube from the bottom. A lot of water came out, just like in your video. Problem solved!
Thank you so much for this video, we were dreading an expensive repair bill and now I have an option to look for when it's light out, we have the same issue so im hoping this is it
I just did this on a 2017 Elantra. Unclogging is a breeze. Removing the seats and carpet and getting things dry not so much. A fan overnight will leave the top feeling dry. It’s not, still a lot of water under the carpet. It’s like foam rubber on the back. Oh, and my dealer said “Nah, that’s not covered by warranty.” Why not? Hopefully I can put it back together tomorrow. Still drying.
Thanks for this video... the ac technician who cleaned my ac system forgot to plug the drain hose and it' s also clogged but now it's fixed because of this video thanks a lot 😃
Brave guy - trusts a hydraulic jack to not accidentally release or roll. Also not worried about high velocity air blowing gunk in his eyes, or into his car interior.
I was using a jack stand which you can see if you look closely. And why would anything blow into the interior, I left the drain hose connected to the AC outlet lol.
Great video. Saved me time and effort. Turns out mine (2015 Sonata) wasn't clogged with dirt. The issue was the drain pipe was kinked in an upward position. Just pulled it down and the water poured out,. Didn't even need to jack up the car. Just for overkill I jammed a 14" cable tie up the tube but it seemed fine. Had my oil changed last week and I'm guessing the tech may have accidentally pushed the drain out of the way. Seems unlikely running over anything was he cause.
Instead of buying an $80 air compressor just for this specific issue, just stop by a gas station at an air compressor for your tires instead. It’ll do the job just fine
Great information! Thanks for this video. I haven’t had much experience with Hyundai’s and this was a huge help. Have a family member with bad smell with the AC Vents and will be replacing the cabin filter and was thinking about the drain tube too.
Yes thank you! Had the exact same thing with my 2015 Hyundai accent. Use my air compressor with a nozzle attached to fit in the hose tight and it worked like a charm. Almost went to the shop and wasted money.
I replaced ac cabin filter each 6months since new (2017 elantra) and never happened this, thanks for info I’ll check and blown soon as possible this ac drain hose
Or is it from the evaporator from the heating and cooling system? If water sits in it long enough itll smell when its supposed to drain through the evaporator drain
Nice one! i've got this problem with my 2019 i10. I wondered why my carpets were wet even though the car has been sitting in the sun during the summer.
Can this also work if my 13’ sonata has been smelling stale? My car is clean as can be and i googled and it mentioned that if all the water doesnt drain out it can get moldy causing a smell
I had 2017 and got in the car one morning and all my windows had dew on the inside of the car. I removed the rubber mat on the passenger side and flicked water in my face. removed mat and dried out the car with the windows down. I did your trick and some water came out but I guess a lot evaporated over three days with the windows down.
I got an air compressor all ready, and I located the tube and saw that it's just been kinked upwards and was caught on a screw. Unkinked it, and all the water came out. Lol
I have a 2017 Elantra, from very first summer I had odor coming from mine. The cabin filter ( 1st one ) was full of grey carpet ( or insulation ) bits. I think that the whole thing has bits stuck in there from build time. I will try cleaning it out. Both cars are about the same. Thanks
I have a 2016 Kia optima with 45k on it. The front passenger floor is completely soaked. I don't think it's a heater core because it doesn't smell like antifreeze at all it actually has that musty old water smell that's been sitting. So tomorrow I'm going to check the condenser drain hose
Great video - just paid to have this done at the dealership because of the whooshing noise in my dash. 2018 Sonata so design has not improved. Thankfully no water on the inside.
Great job for sharing this video. For only a 2 years old car, it is a bit surprising that the hose has clogged up already. Seems like all the car's engineering are using the same poor system or setup that when the AC hose is clogged, water spill over to the passenger's foot well. Should have been a better design.
Not necessarily. I haven't had this problem again since making the video. By blowing the obstruction out of position it allowed the pressure from the water to push it out.
Thank for not giving us a 30 minute story before you got down to it. Quick and to the point. A+

yes the weird whirring broom noise eh!!
Just used my friends air compressor to drain the AC hose on my 2015 Sonata. It worked just as advertised!! thank you so much for the life hack.
Thank you very much! Literally had about 2 gallons of water in my 2015 sonata. Followed your instructions to the “T”, and it worked perfectly.

Exactly what im having… left turn swishing sound. About to poke the tube lol
Out of all the videos I have watched this was the most helpful! Thanks
You cleaned up my big headache. Thanks million.
Thanks dude, this is exactly what my 2015 needed. Started leaking water into the cabin after some heavy rains. Followed your steps and about a quart of water drained out after unclogging it. Thank you so much.
YEP! That was it for me too!! Went to a gas station and used the tire air pump to do it. Very helpful.
Wow you were able to get under the car without a jack?
@@tinapham202 yeah you can reach it but you'll get a little dirty
Much appreciated !!
Thought it was wind noise coming from the moon roof .LOL .
Thanks !!
Perfect video, i used a can of compressed air and it worked like a charm...thank you so much!
Thank you❣️this has saved us a trip to the dealership and bridge tolls💰
Thank you so much! Since I didn't have an air compresser, I used a sturdy but flexible plastic strip to unclog the tube from the bottom. A lot of water came out, just like in your video. Problem solved!
This was a huge help, worked like a charm on my wife’s veloster, thank you!🙏🏽
Had this problem on my 2015 Sonata, and this video helped me fix it. Thanks!
Thanks for the help! I used a long zip tie to clear it out..
Thank you, once we shot some air up there, it just gushed out about a cup of water! Fixed the problem
Thank you so much! We’ve been suffering with no ac for the from mid spring to early fall!
Thank you so much for this video, we were dreading an expensive repair bill and now I have an option to look for when it's light out, we have the same issue so im hoping this is it
Thank you. I was just having this issue. Quick fix and easy. 🤙🏽

Have same problem on wife's 2017 Kia Sorento helpful video thanks for sharing.
Worked for me on my 2014 Accent. Probably saved me a bunch of money, too. Thank you.
Thanks for this video... the ac technician who cleaned my ac system forgot to plug the drain hose and it' s also clogged but now it's fixed because of this video thanks a lot 😃
Thanks a lot for this. Have the same problem right now, will try your suggestion.

Thank you so much!! I found that little tube, shoved a plastic tie up it and the water is pouring out. Great video!!
You're welcome!
thanks for saving me $$ and time for driving to the dealership! Same problem!

Dude thanks for this video. I did exactly what you did, and it worked seamlessly. 10/10
Seems like an easy fix, thanks! Also you sound like Randall from Clerks.
Randal Boyd LMAO thats EXACTLY who he sounds like
This is also how u unclog the gokarts
I replaced ac cabin filter each 6months since new (2017 elantra) and never happened this, thanks for info I’ll check and blown soon as possible this ac drain hose
did you have to remove the under engine plastic shroud to access the drain tube?
Thank you for this! Saved us money and time.
Thank you. Just the information I needed.

It worked! It took about 13 seconds to fix. Now my wife's feet won't get wet!!
nice job, thats alotta water
Thanks man! This saved me so much headache!
This was a big help. I had no idea where the drain line was. Fixed my Santa Fe right away. Thanks for the video

Thanks mate that sorted my problem
I got an air compressor all ready, and I located the tube and saw that it's just been kinked upwards and was caught on a screw. Unkinked it, and all the water came out. Lol
Was there a sloshing sound after you started the car?
I have a 2017 Elantra, from very first summer I had odor coming from mine. The cabin filter ( 1st one ) was full of grey carpet ( or insulation ) bits. I think that the whole thing has bits stuck in there from build time. I will try cleaning it out. Both cars are about the same. Thanks
Hell yeah work I just attached another hose to it and blew it out with my mouth from the too down I know that sounds sus but it worked 😂😂😂
Is the cause of the plug still in there? Waiting to cause an issue again?
Looking forward to doing this so my wife doesn't get soaked while riding shotgun lol
How did you get access to the drain? I’m having trouble getting into mine without breaking anything
Seriously helped so much! Thank you!!!!
Thank you 🙏
Thanks. Helped a lot
Thanks I used a tire pump to blow it out. Kinda hard to reach since it’s in the middle of the car
It the hose underneath supposed to just be loose and exposed like that?
Absolutely. Its a drain!
thank you for posting this. however, i think this is only a temporary solution, as the clog hasn't been removed. just relocated, no?
Can i use vacuum instead??
Very helpful, thank you 🙏🏾
Thanks for video 👍👍
Hell yeah worked 2014 sonata

Thank you very much
What caused it to clog? How do I prevent from clogging again. Or do I just need to do this regularly
Spiders
Thank you fender7802 great content.
I need location of drip tube oa 2011 Sonata . Help.
Need location of drip tube on a 2011 Serento not a Sanada. Anyone ?
Thank You So Much 🤗
It helped me!
Wow thanks for a great help
Great video - just paid to have this done at the dealership because of the whooshing noise in my dash. 2018 Sonata so design has not improved. Thankfully no water on the inside.
Excuse me, is this why I hear a sloshing sound every time I go into a corner? Because there’s water clogged? Hyundai sonata 2018
Yes, particularly if it happens when you make a LEFT turn (you hear the water going from the center of the dash to the right).
Thank you for show me that . Because my car is doing same thing
Omg fucking god thank you so much finally figured it out my car was starting to stink and get really nasty but not no more thank you
Great job for sharing this video. For only a 2 years old car, it is a bit surprising that the hose has clogged up already. It has nothing to do with the age or mileage. Spiders get up in there. It can happen in a couple of days!,
My Elantra is dripping but the floor is still wet. I drained it some time ago but it's still a mess.
Awesome thank you
Aren’t you just shooting whatever is clogging it up into it potentially causing a larger problem down the road?
Not necessarily. I haven't had this problem again since making the video. By blowing the obstruction out of position it allowed the pressure from the water to push it out.
I can't figure out how to remove the trim that you removed. It started to crack. can anybody help?
Same here
Thanks 😊
And change your in cabin air filter.
Thanks broooo thanks
👍👍👍👍
Yeah I just had this done to my car about a month ago and I went on a nice ride and saw from passenger was wet :(
Thanks man
epic thanks
😂O man 👍👍👍
What causes this !!!! I was told it was a bad a.c core. 3,000. Not happening !!
Thank you.
Thank you!
Thank you!!!
