I can't tell you how long I've been hoping for a tutorial like this. Thank you so much for putting this together. This will help me make my - otherwise - dull gear review videos a bit more dynamic. Cheers.
Amazing tutorial, the amount of bases you covered with editing, how to shoot the footage, and comparing different transition effects. Also going into fusion to make a more advanced type of effect and fading it with an adjustment layer is genuis!
Thank you so so much. I definitely went a little deeper with details in this video but I thought each tip was necessary to show you my awesome sauce. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the kind words. Cheers!
Thanks Jamie. Like all your videos, this tutorial is tight, smart, clear, and insightful. Love the tips and tricks to get "badass" footage. The secret sauce of buttery motion blur was over the top amazing. We appreciate your willingness to share your expertise and gifts with video editing. Keep up the great work. You are the best!
Much appreciated Dale! I thought it would be a good idea to show people how to get the appropriate footage to do these tips and tricks on. It overall will help people become better filmmakers and also really help the concept of future "speed ramping" transitions that people will produce. Thank you so much for your feedback and Im glad you liked the video! Cheers!
The f…! I always felt the need to edit clips with smooth speed ramps in FCP. I had no idea this was possible even better with Resolve. This is probably the best UA-cam tutorial of the beginning of 2023. Thanks A LOT!
@@JamieFenn Just tried that on tonight's project and I noticed the render time went through the roof. I'm exporting at vertical 4K, but wasn't expecting my M1 Pro to be so slow.
@@JamieFenn Turns out the export audio is all messed up when using these adjustment layers. Out of bit; missing audio parts and audio glitches. As soon as I turned that off the motion blur adjustment layers, everything was fine and exported in 2 minutes.
Had no idea I could actually do that on an Adjustment Clip, always manually created FusionClips for each of the 10-20 clips themselves & the PC was going crazy LOL - much appreciated! Keep up that dope video content 🔥
I agree. To be honest half way through the video I was like “you know what, this shit doesn’t matter unless people know how to film it” so I decided to show examples. Tutorials need more of this now a days. Glad you enjoyed the video btw! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hey Jamie! Coming from the last video to this video I can say that it DEFINATELY made a difference in the quality! Took the same footage and used this and wow, I went from Walmart footage to "Holy sh*t did I make this?!". In the end I will have to re-shoot but that's okay! Excited to get back out and shoot again..this time...I bought a new toy. The Sony FX30 and wow do I love it! Your videos are such a huge help in my learning process. I've gone from never having made anything or even picking up a serious camera until May 2022. I'm super excited to have found someone I not only enjoy watching but matching the look I love, and you seem like you know your sh*t. Great work, hope to see more from you in the future.
Dude, incredibly solid tutorial! Concise yet thorough, almost every sentence was value added and I'm saving this video to my DaVinci Tips playlist for sure. Super excited to try and get some shots that can use this method!
This is pretty cool. There is a movie director named Isaac Florentine (director of the undisputed films) who films his fight scenes in 88fps. If you watch some of the Boyka fight clips, the fights are sped up a bit and then you can see the ramps and slow downs and how engaging they are. 😊
Well said Jim. I dove a little deeper with my explanation in this video. I thought it was appropriate to do so since I believed there was a ton of valuable information on this topic that wasn’t out there! Thanks for the continued support - as always 🙏🏼
Love your stuff! I've been youtubing for about a year and starting to get more serious about transitions and just overall making things look better / cooler. You and your style are a big help! I appreciate it!

You deserve a nobel prize for making this video!! I've tried so many times to create a nice motion blur effect and thanks to you I'm now able to edit my video like a pro!
Honestly so amazing that you took the time to explain everything down to the keystrokes for the shortcuts. My art reels are going to be so much better now thanks to you.
