Let's look at this from another angle. We are embodied beings that have evolved under a set of environmental conditions that most of us don't have access to anymore. Our sleep/wake cycles were governed by the sun. Sunlight varies in intensity throughout the day. Slowly enough for your eyes to adjust. Human sight had fully evolved before we figured out how to use fire as a tool. But even the light of a bonfire is gentle on the eye. Now we live in a world our distant ancestors might describe as a nightmare of blinding lights, of impossible colors blotting out the stars, of towers rising up to the heavens girt in bands of lightning. One can live in permanent daylight -- well, an imitation of it. And then there's the noise. Physical and spiritual. Cars. Trains. Lawnmowers. Construction. Our bodies weren't made to withstand organic vibration for hours on end. Too much sound, not enough stillness. Too many colors, yet not enough. Green is the one at the center of the visual spectrum we perceive, and in some places, we've all but banished the multitude of greens nature has to offer. Too many opportunities for addiction through intermittent reinforcement. Too many promises of tantalizing, unreachable goals. All surface, no depth. An epidemic of status anxiety. Jobs that not only draw us away from nature but denature us at the same time. You know, every time I go through checkout at the store both the sales assistant and I play out a script in the same exact order. There comes a point where they ask me, Would you like your Tax ID on your receipt? To which I always reply, No need, thank you. We've incorporated that pattern to an extent that, if they asked me "Is the sky green today?" at the right moment I would respond with "No need, thank you." We are fluid organisms in a world built for compliant mechanisms. Is it any wonder people feel tired all the time? Maybe this all comes across as very cerebral. But I have eight brains 🐙🐙🐙 so I can't help it.
How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then rest afterward . . . for the love of peace, for the joy of bliss 💙
Your videos give me insight into questions I didn't even know to ask.
