Basically, it would be something like a 25% tax on plastic medical syringes imported from China, paid to the US government by the US company distributing them. The trickle-down to that is either the US company reporting lower profits (unlikely) or the US consumers buying from that company pay more to cover the tariff's cost (extremely likely). Supply and Demand have NOTHING to do with tariffs. The only way in which this affects US manufacturing is if the US companies decide that they can no longer justify the cost of the tariffs and manufacturing moves back to the US, but that would take decades, which more than likely means they'll just charge US citizens more for the products and hope the tariffs go away after Trump leaves office.

Tariffs are a tax paid ultimately by the consumer, I'm surprised more isn't made of this
you fail to understand, we are taxed on goods imported to china, they are not taxed on goods imported here. All we want is free trade. Equal tariffs. Whats hard to understand about that?

President Trump offered China to remove taxes on their end and we would do the same and they wouldnt, so we are taxing them the same as they are taxing us now. Thats called fair trade. What is a tariff?
A tariff is a tax on imported goods. Despite what the President says, it is almost always paid directly by the importer (usually a domestic firm), and never by the exporting country. Thus, if the US imposes a tariff on Chinese televisions, the duty is paid to the US Customs and Border Protection Service at the border by a US broker representing a US importer, say, Costco.
The Chinese government pays nothing, just as the US government pays no tax to Canada for that nation’s tariffs on imported dairy products. Rather, an importer or supplier for a Canadian supermarket pays the duty on Wisconsin cheese that lands in the grocer’s dairy counter (though I suspect few Canadian retailers are selling much US cheese these days, given the recent unpleasantness between the two countries).
