Now you are speaking my language! I got into these retellings because of Madeline Miller. Nothing comes close to her writing, but I enjoy how most of these stories have a feminist twist, where we give voices and a story to the females that were often villainized. I have too many on my shelf that I haven't yet read, so I need to work on that in 2025.
I haven't read any Greek myth retellings so I got nothin' but your thumbnail is hilarious. Edited to add: I'm wrong. Upon further thought, I read The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. It's a retelling of the Greek myth of Alcestis. Alicia paints a self portrait entitled "Alcestis" within the story.
There's a book about Medusa i wanted to read but not sure if it was Stone Blind. 🤔 I saw it on Good books lately with Tayler and Branden. Hi Z, tear it up girl!😂🩷
I have a similar notion of watching a booktuber talk about a book about Medusa. I don't think it was Stone Blind either, but I wasn't able to find it again. Mystery!😻
Very interesting and unique idea - Nothing new with your channel, and I’m glad to see your numbers increase. I’m wondering if you’ll eventually need to invest in a beater camera and microphone. Not that audio and video are bad, but as more new eyes come upon your videos, they might judge quickly on the aesthetic before giving your excellent content a chance.
Thank you for the kind words😁I would love to upgrade my material. I'm still, more or less, living out of a suitcase, so I don't want to get new things until I have a home to put them in...🤞
On a separate subject, do you still dabble in these on-line short story contests like “Last Line”, and “Reedsy”, etc? I’ve began to dip my toes into this world.
I've never submitted to any contest. I refuse to pay fees (I say I'm principled, but it's probably just that I'm cheap). I feel a writer should be paid for their work, not the inverse (just my personal hang-up). Occassionally I'll submit a story to an open call for submissions for an anthology, but that depends on the theme and the pay. I haven't done one in ages, but am finishing up a Christmas horror story for an open call. Good luck with your submissions. It's a crazy grind!
I am a neophyte at all this, but within my early attempts at exposing my work I feel wholeheartedly the challenge of placing something so personal to one’s self, over which one has spent so much thought and time, and then face the judgement of the masses who only read your work at face value.

I'll be keeping an eye out for your reviews😀
These sound cool! I've also heard good things about Stephen Fry's Greek Myth books.
Stephen Fry does great work. Though, lately, I've been steering clear of non-fiction. I'm sure his treatement of the subject is stellar

I didn't realise The Silent Patient was a Greek retelling. I read that last year, and gave it 1 star (which I consider generous!)
You introduced me to Madeline Miller. I bought Circe. I've yet to read it, but thank you. 😽
Let me know how it works out for you. I expect it will land well🤞

@Michael_Wertenberg I found it, it's called MEDUSA and the author is NATALY GRUENDER. 😬that's the one I was talking about anyway.
How about Ilium and Olympos by Dan Simmons. It's a retelling of the Trojan war, on Mars!
Nice! Thank you
