Finally, somebody points out the differences! I get tired of explaining my 1986 WH1 and my 1987 Regal Limited with turbo package.
Personally, I have never seen a Buick 3.8 normal aspirated T package car. All that I have seen have been with the 5.0 Olds engine.

Great video! I love my 87 T. Also note, the only real giveaway between NA V8 Regal and Turbo T package is the hood "buldge" and the intercooler "air dam" under the front bumper to direct flow into the intercooler.

Guys at NY car shows call the T Type models and limited “fake” lol, they claim even an 86 model isn’t the good one, only the 1987 they claim is a true grand national, so funny

The only Regal ever OFFICIALLY marketed by Buick as a Turbo-T was the WE4 packaged turbo Regal. Soooo many Buick enthusiasts get this wrong to this day, but you nailed it, Sir!
Side note. The aluminum bumper braces and (I believe) aluminum brake drums were available for all other turbo Regals. I'd have to check my old literature from Dennis Kirban, but they're buried. Those aluminum brake drums would flex, believe it or not, when holding boost with S-10 wheel cylinders and soft pads, leading to inconsistent launches at the track. Switching to steel drums fixed the issue, and you could cut some gnarly and very consistent 60 foot times on sticky tires. Ahh, good times!

I remember picking up my car from impound in the late 80s. There was a white 87 Turbo T with burgundy interior SITTING ON THE GROUND WITH NO WHEELS! No hood. I remember staring at the motor wonder what the fuck I was looking at. Been in love with them ever since. A couple years later I found one on a used car lot for $7000. It was sitting next to a hot air Grand National with a LEATHER interior for $12000. The salesman told me the T was cheaper because "nobody knows about these." He said nobody wanted it but everybody that stopped wanted the GN. He was driving the T home every night as a personal car until he sold it. Then he started bragging about all the cars he beat in it. He actually let me drive it because back then nobody would let you drive them if they were on a lot. Anyway the T was a fuckin beast and I got it for 7k! Wish I still had it.

Love T-Type. In 77 or 78 Buick LaSabre had 3.8 turbo too. Black "b pillar" on turbo & chrome on N.A. .

I always been a hard core Grand national fan but what I like about the T type and turbo T is that they came in all types of color and options plus there a definite sleeper that looks like an ordinary grands pa regal from a few feet away awesome video

The Grand National was before my time (born in '94) but I've wanted one since seeing one at a car show back when I was in the 9th grade. I started looking for one until a friend of mine told me about the T-types...the price difference is pretty incredible for the same car under the skin.

So true back in 1993 when searching for a turbo Regal .I looked at many GN's. The T Types and Turbo T's were way more appealing to me .l found a 1987 T in dark metallic gray. I still own the car today still wears its original paint . I just love that car especially when you hear the turbo spool. Thanks for giving these cars there recognition. Very misunderstood car especially to folk that only know Grand National !!

If you want to go down an interesting rabbit hole, back in the day a small fleet of '84-'87 T-Types and Type Ts were maintained by the Connecticut State Police as pursuit vehicles and for other unmarked purposes. Those that weren't wrecked in the line of duty were sold off as surplus. I have several friends who have - or have had - State Police surplus Turbo Regals over the years.

I have the y56 t package limited. I have never seen another one. I’m interested if anyone else has? Y56 is the regal t with 397 v8 engine with turbine wheels, t steering wheel, sports suspension and badges but also has the Regal classic limited pillow seats and shifter up on steering wheel. The car is black and chrome. I love it!

Kirban believes that less than 200 of those pre we4 black turbo Regals were built before Buick shut it off and made the we4 the way for a black T. I've seen 2 of them over the years.

Had a black LC2 regal but no WO2 package. So I had the bright trim and bumpers black powder coated and removed the silly sail panel badges in an effort to mimic the WE4. The only thing that gave it away was the hood ornament. Sold it about 18 months ago to buy a new 2021 Mach 1.
