Galette with Egg
Ingredients:
Crepes:
1 cup buckwheat flour
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 tbsp melted butter
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup water
Filling:
4 strips of thick bacon, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1/4 cup white wine
4 stalks asparagus, chopped
1/2 cup goat cheese
Salt and pepper
1 egg
Parsley for garnish
Instructions
1. Combine flour, egg, milk, butter, and salt to make the buckwheat crepes. Let sit in fridge about two hours, or overnight
2. Crisp the bacon in an ungreased pan over medium heat. Remove from pan when done. In the same pan, cook the onion until softened. Deglaze the pan with the white wine, scraping up any bits stuck to the bottom of the pan. Season with salt.
3. Add in the asparagus, and toss through. Let cook until softened, about two to three minutes.
4. Remove from heat, and toss into a bowl with the bacon and cheese. Stir through, and set aside.
5. Make buckwheat crepes by lightly greasing a non-stick pan and setting over low heat. Add batter to the pan, roll it around the surface, and, when edges start to get lacy and flick up, turn the pancake out onto a plate to cool.
6.To assemble galette, add a crepe back to the pan on low heat. Layer in the filling, and crack an egg in the middle. Allow to cook about five minutes, or until egg white has set. Flip the edges up around the egg, remove from pan, and garnish with fresh cracked pepper

It honestly breaks my heart that Asian people are being treated so horribly, right now; it's been a long time since I got to know one personally, but I fondly recall the Asian women that ran a nail salon my mom loved to go to, and I find myself wondering how they're doing, since it's been so many years since then. I pray that things will get better, and even though I don't have a penny to my name, I'll do what I can to help, even if it's just to spread the word, and whatever love I can. Thank you so, so much for breathing so much life, and love into Feast Of Fiction, it's a delight to see fictional foods brought to life in such a magical way! It all started when the pandemic started. Since the case started from China(specifically in Wuhan)...but then it was generalized, ending that all countries in asia are already involved making the discrimination much worst.
I'm a proud Filipina and it so sad that some americans are joining the bandwagon of hate against asians. I hope that this stops soon and just spread love & positivity😁

Hi Jimmy! I’ve been watching Feast of Fiction since it originally started and I’ve been following your personal channel since 2011. I was really excited to get to see you appear in Mulan because it was like seeing an old friend making it big! Especially seeing someone from the Asian-American UA-cam community. It hurts that Asian-Americans have been the subject of endangerment within the past year, but I commend you for speaking out about it and for being one of the few that represent us in media. I wanted to watch this but when you started recapping the season I realized I'M NOT THERE YET... AAAAH SPOILERS!! I need to catch up before continuing, so for now, have your "like", please don't spoil this for me, and I'll be back when I've caught up ^-^.
I do want to say that as an entirely non-asian person, who has had a fascination with, love of, and respect for many different cultures all across Asia, I felt so inspired and impassioned by the speech you made at the beginning of this video. Racisim is absolutely terrible regardless of whom it is aimed, and when directed toward a people who's collective cultures I really enjoy, not only baffles me, but infuriates me as well. I will never underatand why people have to find differences between one another and make themselves feel superior by tearing down others, so it's difficult for me to know how to even address these people. I know this is kind of a non-point, but I wanted anyone of asian descent to know that I am, at the very least, one of many from whom you have nothing to fear, and I am just vocal enough that if I happen to be in a position to do so, I will stand up for you. This goes for anyone whom needs someone in their court so long as it's not to hurt others or themselves. ♡ No one should ever be made to feel lesser if they have done nothing to warrant such consequence. WE ARE ALL EQUAL! 🤍🏳️🌈🌍🌎🌏🏳️🌈🖤

If had to pass an idea around for another dish.., something from the PBS kids channel.
Because my family was poor I grew up watching the public broadcast service channel (which had a lot of educational kids shows) or movies on VHS tapes.
There's a lot of nostalgia for me from watching "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood", "Arthur", "Wishbone", "Reading Rainbow", and many other shows.
Some recipes I can think of are Dragonberry cupcakes from "Dragontales", a chocolate mallow blaster from "Magic Schoolbus", meat ice cream from "Between The Lions", those ones come to mind first.

A lot of my friends are Asian, and I am from Atlanta. It really broke my heart when that shooting happened. One of them wasn’t too far from the office I work at. Jimmy’s words really warmed my heart, and as a Black American, I stand with the AAPI Community, and I am further strengthening my resolve in ending hate in the world.

You need to put butter in that pan. Put the garnish while the galette is cooking after you flipped it and cook the egg on it, not before. Fold it while it cook, it won't break and it will be golden brown, just put some butter on top to make it shinny.

In life, there are things that we cant control but we are happy that you are safe. As a fellow Asian-American, I know the pain of what is really going on. It really pains me that this is happening because I just want to live in a place where I feel safe, but with all the assaults that has been happening, I am scared to even leave my house just for some air. Even if I want to go around the corner of my block, I feel scared cause I don't know what can happen the moment I turn that corner. But I am happy about those who are helping Asian-Americans feel safe and want to protect us. Whether if its through charity, or making a community that protects AA, it makes me very happy. And even videos like these can make my day feel better. Thank you for everything that you have done.
