I saw on TV once a method of splitting rocks. It comprised of drilling hole in the rock and then pouring in a compound and leaving for a day. The compound expands as it cures and exerts enough force on the rock to split it. If you have a hard rock which you rely have to move, this might be the way to go, although it means drilling the rock in the first place, not easy if it has a granite type composition. It may be possible for you to look up the method on the web.
Hello, yes few people said that and even send link to video how they do it :) We wouldn't even know where to get this stuff and how much that would cost .. so we keeping the rock for now ;) G
The world is full of flat boring lawns. I understand that you have maybe a bit too much rocks and boulders, but this one is a beauty. Leave it, it is full of potential.
Thank you Juanita !!! I think I need to give them some more food ... but Sun and heat makes they leaves go yellow ish even if I water them every night xxx G You always so kind to us
The rock is so beautiful, and I agree with the others, to leave it. You are both so creative, can't wait to see how all this flows into perfect harmony, as I know it will. I'm singing, 🎵"Strawberry Fields Forever"🎶 ♥️💕♥️
Thank you so much! :) Can't wait to see it as well .. this time next year will look so much different... Thank you for watching us and a lovely song !!! :) Gxxx
I've been amazed at how much weight he has lost! And now I can see that she has also trimmed down a great deal. They both look younger than when they started!!!
Having a good sense of humor makes working a little easier. It's too bad the top of the 'big rock' isn't real flat. It would make a great place to have pots of herbs for cooking or perhaps a table and chairs for dining. Either way with the rock or without it we know you will make it work for you. 'G' we like how you are using the small rocks for defining the garden and tree areas. It makes them look special and pretty. Animals sure know how to make the most out of the hot weather ~ find the shade and take a nap. Hope you both are well ~ 💖🤗 Lacy, Mike & Hamish🐾
I would leave that rock as it will make any wall stronger. OH and tell Gee to use a mask when she uses lime in a dry state. She won't feel anything until it's to late.
I don't need to wet stone. as I did asked that Vicente -our professional stonemason (because I seen everyone spray water ) and he said this is not necessary and I am trusting him 100% and it worked very well so far as I done one wall already in hot day and I didn't had any trouble :) Gxxxx
It's looking great with all of the work you've two have done! Your Kubota would benefit from more counter weight added to the front. In the meantime, lift the lock between the brake pedals and use the appropriate pedal for steering assistance.
Thank you so much for your compliments and yes we would need to get more weight when we got them two they didn't had more and we never went back to get more ... G
Continue with breaking the rock to a flatbed then build the patio on one level, a flat patio is more versatile for furniture and safety. Love your videos !
Thank you !!! I think we will leave the rock .. so many of you recommended to leave it and do something nice from it .. I think we will try to do that :)
Cha cha that would be definitely wrong time of the year ;) I think we will keep it and try to make something nice with it !!! Have a good weekend and see you next week Shane !! G
Jeepers that’s a huge rock😮. Have it as a step up patio area it would take for ever to crush that and with clever planting and your green fingers could look pretty good… save your energies for the stuff you can do 😊x
Loved seeing your tomatoes! It’s been an awful start to gardening season here in Montana USA. I had to pull out all tomato plants and throw away. Got a weird virus that after doing much research found there is no treatment and would probably not even get much of harvest if left. I’ll get some seed for dwarf tomatoes and grow indoors. I think like every one else I would find a way to income that large rock into your patio. Maybe hallow out a place for water and a birdbath, small hallows for little plants that are drought tolerant.
Ahh so sorry about your tomatoes !!!! I got 5 dwarf tomato plants as well !!! will show you on next video they are doing very good .. I think I need to put hay as the tomatoes will rot from wet soil ... and yes we will try to keep that rock it would take to much effort and time to brake it ... G xxx
Oh, also, how about a patio around the kitchen area out the front door and around the kitchen area leave the rock for decorative interest, plants, flowers
Strange ending 😯 you are going to drink a lot of beer? 🍻 Just make a teras from all this stones and make flower beds with the stones around the house and put the roof on the house this metal roof with isolation inside then you can work inside the house again. Thanks for your vid 😇💗💗💗 love and bless you guys. Just make something unique and wonderful 😊.
Bless you .. this is gas bottles ... I understand it might look like beer barrels but they gas :) LOL We will leave this big rock !! I think we can make something lovely out of it .. :) G xxx
You're both hard workers, very impressive to watch. There are some large rocks to shift. Are you going to dig around that large rock? Maybe you could put pot plants on top or perhaps hire a large rock drill?
Thank you Robyn you kind as always !!! :) We will leave this big rock and make something with it ... Gxx would take years for A to crust it ;) just kidding
You could create a step up patio area by leaving it there. But my vision is to square it out for the shape, with additional rocks or concrete. You could then have a table and chairs with an umbrella in that area.
Hello /i would leave the big rock as it is and build the porch properly until the area of the rock/it is a beatifull traditional element of Portugal land
The pointing is coming along nicely! It certainly makes a difference to the final appearance and finish to the wall. When are you starting the roof structure? Obviously you want the roof insulated and dried in by the end of summer. The patio area is an ongoing ever changing project. The huge rocks really are limiting just what you can manage to do with the area. I suppose if you were to build a wooden deck over the top of the stones, the quickest way to get a level even finish. You could then have various levels to add interest. It might also be the answer to having to haul out/smash/grind the rocks. Plus you wouldn’t have a problem with any water damage to the patio as you know the drainage underneath is the best you can get. No puddling under the deck to worry about! I see once again G the veggies are growing at a pace, are the tomatoes Black Russian, I’ve tried them a couple of times. Never managed to get them to ripen to their black colour. Yours look great. Every thing in the garden is storming away! ❤
Hi Rosemary !!! They are Black tomatoes ... not sure because I didn't save the label .. I got black tula and black cherry as well ... I got seeds long time ago in UK ... so been using them for few years now ... We will do patio base then will do roof so not long now just few years ;) Gxxx
Easy on the tractor lol, that is why they have two brake peddles, one for each rear wheel, brake one side and the tractor turn, even when wheelying! good job guys it is starting to look really good..
I think you could make the large rock as your barbecue area with fire-pit. In India l saw them drilling holes for dynamite to split the large rocks 🤔 The pointing really makes the walls look great.
Good episode! I was waiting to hear Andrius, "Good morning lovely people." Not once... 😂 😂 In my opinion I would incorporate THE rock into your patio and landscaping. Curious to know which town in Spain do you travel to for your fuel?
Hey Bryan :) we went to ververde it's closer that CB for us .. Andrius said I should say GOOD morning lovely people ...in this episode I bet he will be rearing to say that in a next one LOL and yes we will leave this rock it would take ages to work on it .. would take years for andrius to do it ... JOKING ;) G xxx
So you are the first one to say that !!! and I was waiting for that suggestion !!! I think it would be perfect place for it !!! 10 out of 10 !!! G and look at the stars at night .. would be amazing ...
You are probably going to leave the rock according to other commenters but to you are there and you see each angle of the patio, it’s a lot of work but it’s for life your house will be soo beautiful with flowers surrounding it so even though sometimes things take a while to achieve the end result is worth the effort there rocks everywhere on your property at least not around the house …it is a monster of a rock❤🇨🇦🇵🇹
Lots of progress, you cleared the front of the house👍👍, looks so much better . I would use the Rock as part of the Front porch. Just pour cement to level it. Drill some holes for rebar, set a form . It would be a great place for a table and umbrella. 👍. Be blessed Lovely people. 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for taking the time to share. I’m really interested in following your journey and look forward to watching whenever an episode pops up. With all you have to do I’d definitely find a way to incorporate the large stone in my build.
That’s a huge boulder! I think your new patio should have an elevated terrace with that boulder buried in it! 😂 Put a shade structure over it? Or a Hot tub/Dipping pool?
Hello !!! Yes I think we got 98% of you saying to leave it !!! and we trust you all !!! We will leave it and make it something cool with it in a future after home is done !!! G
Incorporate The big rock, making it into a rock garden filled with flowers or plants (cacti, but my choice would be flowers)! I love your channel and thank you for great videos.
Leave the giant boulder. Try and drill a hole in the middle and run tubing to the center of the hole and turn it in to a fountain. Plant flowers around it and as the water runs over the rock it can water the plants.
Hello Kathy !! wow this would be amazing feature !!! water and stones two of my favourite things and then flowers !! I love flowers as well !! this is amazing idea ... will have to see what we make from in .. Gxxx
@@portugalitis Or add a moat around the base to send the water back up to the fountain and put water plants in it instead of plants that need to be in the ground.
Another very nice video with you both. Every video is exciting and lifts the mood. I would integrate the large stone into the terrace, so you could put a small pavilion on it or something similar. Greetings from Germany (Black Forest) Jo
I worry about you getting a chronic hand/wrist injury using the Jack hammer without impact absorbing gloves. But then again you are also lifting such huge rocks. More power to you. I love seeing glimpses of the garden produce.🇦🇺
Thank you Judy .. please don't worry we do take time off and we do take care of our heath ... all is good !!! Garden looks good after them rains !!! happy garden happy Giedre ;) Gxxx
Hi my friends, I am in awe of the amount of work you are doing at the moment. Little Indie has certainly shown a great deal of strength. Wow.. I have no clue how you are going to work out the extended patio area.. I have it filed in the” too hard basket” 😅 Sending love❤️🌸❤️
Hello Lorraine !!! Indie is amazing !!! such a beast We will leave that big rock as it would take to much time and effort to brake it ... Gxxx have a good week ahead
Your homestead is really coming together. You both are such hard workers and are looking fabulous! Once again G has proved that she is the best gardener! I think you should leave the rock.
The land is full of rock and is on a slant. Incorporate the rock into your patio. Have you considered a terraced patio area? Locals would know best what to do!! Whatever you do, I hope you have a blessed week!
I don’t know if you can crush that rock, but if you can only crush that part that is in the patio, then leave the rest incorporate it. Gierdre is very capable of making a garden of flowers around it and you could actually use that as extra space as part of the patio.
@@portugalitis Yes I am well. In Ottawa, Canada this summer we have had lots of rain and lots of heat and humidity. I think you have had that kind of weather as well, although you are likely to have hotter weather than us. I hope you get the patio done in time to enjoy it! All the best! Suz-Anne
Sounds like we all have different weather !!! we just doing level floors we will finish patio when we will close with the roof .. we just want to have level floor as roof will be one big peace that's why we need level this patio .. ;) Gxxx
Hello :) we using lovely flat stones (gold ish colour .. we got them last year ) for terrace ... And yes we will leave the rock ... and make something nice from it later on Gxxx
You made me laugh .. yes maybe it is like an iceberg ;) We will leave it as dynamite and me (G) would not go together .. cha cha _not talking from experience luckily Gxxx
Bless you :) yes we ok .. maybe it's just healthy eating less bread and dessert which is amazing here ... and doing physical work !!! feel much better now :) I think I lost about 5-10kg .. not sure about Andrius
Hello !!! we will need to do some draining and terrace a bit lower at the bottom so water would not stop on patio :) as when it rains rivers flows from the top to bottom ;) so we will have to do something about it for sure G xxx
I agree with the subscriber. First finish the house and then use those stones for the braai and then remove the rest. I am full of comments and I sit in South Africa. But just thinking
Thats a BIG rock!! You will need a bigger jack hammer to break it up. Especially if you dont see it in your vision of your patio( it is pretty big to have to work around) Also G, was there any mortar mix in with the sand and lime? As usually its 4 parts sand, 1 part lime, and 1 part mortar mix for repointing. I didnt see you add any? I just dont want all your work to crumble. Keep up the great work you both!!
Thank you for caring !!! :) I did used this mix for kitchen wall already and it's strong like stone !!! so it works :) G xxxxx hugs We will keep this rock I think ;) I can plant some more flowers around ..
Thanks for sharing with us . That is a huge rock. I would crush it n reduce its height to suit ur patio's pavement level. However let us be practical. U need a heavier jack hammer for that. And will crushing the stone fit in ur construction budget?
Hello. I have followed your channel since you started to upload videos and I congrat you for the improvement little by little you have done and I want to ask you why you haven't finished the roofing or at least have the walls ready for it.
Thank you for watching us !! :) Because we will do one roof from the house to the terrace and Andrius thinks we need to have proper levelled terrace floor first so we could start working on the roof .. as this will be net step G :)
My mind is broken already ;) So please say things if you want !!!! I think we will end up having amazing house with beautiful terrace and BBQ area ..hmm and so much more ... We are crazy Lithuanians so you can expect that... and we like challenges .. it would be boring without it ;) (well for me at least ) G xxxx
I have a friend who used some kind of expansion concret, it was drilling holes every 40-50 cm and it expandes during some hours and breaks the rock, do you have acess to this in Portugal?
Hello, last video we had a video link to this amazing stuff but I don't think we would be able to get that here and we wouldn't even know where to look ;) We will keep this rock ;) G
I would incorporate it.
Hello Rita :) Yes we will try to do it :)
making good progress, the land is looking fab

You can use demolition grout, it's powdered ,mix wit water and pour into holes drilled into the rock, some expands with 18,000 psi of pressure.
We wouldn't even know where to buy it from ... As we not PT so I don't think it they would sell to us .. and we decided to leave this rock :) G

It's better to crash ⛏️that huge rock⛰️, because then you can give the shape🚜 ⛲that you like to your patio⛏️. Greetings 🇬🇷
hello Christina :) I think we will try to leave it and make something nice with it ... will see :) G xxx
Incorporate and use between spaces for bright flowers!!!
never say No to more flowers ;) Cha cha Gxxx
Hi Jo !!! thank you for your message !! yes we will leave this rock and will do something nice with it :) Gxxx
I’d incorporate it into the patio, since it won’t burn you could have a fire there.
Hello :) Yes we will leave it and do something cool with it .. thank you for the brilliant idea Gxx
I have it filed in the” too hard basket” 😅
Sending love❤️🌸❤️
Hello Lorraine !!! Indie is amazing !!! such a beast We will leave that big rock as it would take to much time and effort to brake it ... Gxxx have a good week ahead
Your homestead is really coming together. You both are such hard workers and are looking fabulous! Once again G has proved that she is the best gardener! I think you should leave the rock.
Thank you Christina :) Yes we will leave that big rock :) G xxx
The land is full of rock and is on a slant. Incorporate the rock into your patio. Have you considered a terraced patio area? Locals would know best what to do!! Whatever you do, I hope you have a blessed week!
Hey Elisabeth !! yes we will leave that big rock .. would take years for Andrius to crush it .. years .... ;) G .xxxx
I would make biger patio and cover up this very big rock
Thank you and hello !!! yes, looks like we will keep it !!! :) and work around it will look interesting and lovely I think Gxx
I don’t know if you can crush that rock, but if you can only crush that part that is in the patio, then leave the rest incorporate it. Gierdre is very capable of making a garden of flowers around it and you could actually use that as extra space as part of the patio.
Hey, Yes I think we can make it look really nice and different ... and more excuse to put flowers LOL G xxx Hope you well
@@portugalitis Yes I am well. In Ottawa, Canada this summer we have had lots of rain and lots of heat and humidity. I think you have had that kind of weather as well, although you are likely to have hotter weather than us. I hope you get the patio done in time to enjoy it! All the best! Suz-Anne
Sounds like we all have different weather !!! we just doing level floors we will finish patio when we will close with the roof .. we just want to have level floor as roof will be one big peace that's why we need level this patio .. ;) Gxxx
I would leave the rock, I love rocks, hence my youtube name...you could build the patio around it
Hello, rock lover :) yes we will leave it !!! As someone said it would be perfect place for jacuzzi ;) Gxxx
Keep the rock, combination of ideas already mentioned and new ones that I have not read.
Hello, yes I think we 99% sure we will leave it !!! Thank you :) G
Nice work! Could you incorporate the big rock and make the patio in different levels?
Thank you :) yes we will keep it and work with it :) Gxxx
stronger? crazier? funnier?
always
😁😛😅
Thank you Sonya, BIG hugs G
Meu caro amigo fure a pedra,a um produto que é posto dentro dos buracos feitos na pedra, que estala a pedra boa trabalho
Ola !!! Thank you :) But we decided to leave that rock .. as we don't even know where we could get that stuff here in PT ... :)
Hire a rock drill with air compressor and split the rock
Hello :) It's not that easy to hire here .. or we just don't know about it .. but we will leave this rock and try to incorporate !! G
Our them rocks😂
:) we will rock it !!!
Are you building a wood or stone patio? Either way I would wash it up and keep the big boulder. Could make a nice location for plants.
Hello :) we using lovely flat stones (gold ish colour .. we got them last year ) for terrace ... And yes we will leave the rock ... and make something nice from it later on Gxxx
I should leave the rock. To get rid of it maybe dynamite?? 😀 Maybe it is like an iceberg, so much more may be still under it.
You made me laugh .. yes maybe it is like an iceberg ;) We will leave it as dynamite and me (G) would not go together .. cha cha _not talking from experience luckily Gxxx
How much weight have you lost? You are going to blow away with the Portugal winds. You look good, as long as you feel good and are not sick.
Bless you :) yes we ok .. maybe it's just healthy eating less bread and dessert which is amazing here ... and doing physical work !!! feel much better now :) I think I lost about 5-10kg .. not sure about Andrius
So big stones ,give you a lot of work ,, when have you planed to make the roof ?
Hi Annie !!! we need to make flat surface on the terrace and then we make the roof so hopefully in few weeks !!! G
Nice working guys! Can see your hard work, making a great difference. 😎😉
Thank you :) You are kind as always !!! G xxx
@@portugalitis Well, what goes around comes around! You deserve credit, plus it helps keep you going! 🤪😉😎👍
For sure !!! I do like compliments !!! who doesn't ;) makes me smile .. THANK YOU Gxxx
@@portugalitis smiling is good, laughter is better, happiness......well...that's the best place to be 🥰
Recipe for healthy life !!!! I do love a good laugh ;) Have a good Sunday !!!! g
Good day, Amazing work there! question how is water run off from house in large storms? Have an great week. ❤
Hello !!! we will need to do some draining and terrace a bit lower at the bottom so water would not stop on patio :) as when it rains rivers flows from the top to bottom ;) so we will have to do something about it for sure G xxx
I agree with the subscriber. First finish the house and then use those stones for the braai and then remove the rest. I am full of comments and I sit in South Africa. But just thinking
Bless you Anna !!! your comments always welcome ;) xxx
Could you get the soft rocks crushed for use on your roads in future?
Yes we definitely wood !!! it just crushes so well and looks so good on the road !!! and we got plenty of them .. but that's later on :) G
Could you use the rock for the foundation of a higher level terrace in front of your patio?
I think we can come up with lovely ideas ;)
Hello :) Yes we will leave it as it is nice rock and it would take way to long to work on it !!! G
Hi guys are you building your own stone henge , our just a stone circle for a fire pit
Will rock this world with the rocks ;) I love the stone henge idea !!! ;) G xx need more stones now !!! LOL
Leave it, how about a two level patio?
We will leave it :)
@@portugalitis Thank you for answering my question
no problem :) We not going to finish terrace we just need to make some level as we will have to put 3 colons for the roof :)
Would it be easier to hire a big digger, save you so much time. Are the men who built the extension coming back.
Hey Jim, The Titans you mean? I think they coming for lunch or dinner one day !!! :) Gxxx we will leave this big rock :)
Ha ha, is this man for real??
What do you have in your mind? G
@@portugalitis I dont want to break your mind, What you are building is nuts. I dont say any thing more.
Hello,
last video we had a video link to this amazing stuff but I don't think we would be able to get that here and we wouldn't even know where to look ;) We will keep this rock ;) G
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 You make my day. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤
Thank you !!!! You just made my day as well !!!! G
@@portugalitis you're beautiful people
Dito !!! xxxx
You are becoming a bit obsessed with moving rocks, Andriu.
LOL so it's not only me who thinks that !!! yey !!! He just need excuse to use tractor I bet ;) Gxxx
