I feel like his voice has only gotten stronger over the last decade. If you listen to the earlier stuff he doesn't have the range or "oomph" (whatever you'd call it in actual singing terms) that he does today. And not just live, but even the studio recordings.

Tobias can absolutely sing. But yeah growling is just a different singing technique. It would be crazy thing to compare growling and clean singing.
