RIP Peter, such a talented and professional newsreader. Just gave us the news straight and in a clear concise manner, none of this silly, flashy stuff you get now.
Poor old Peter, I liked him and Anna Ford, Peter was the voice of the BBC, now Anna has retired got grey hair as a result, the news in 2020 was no better, let this edition be a tribute to Peter Sissons VIP.
@@rajnirvan3336 Hello Raj, nice comment, I was 35 in 1991, bet the News was as bad as now, maybe far worst than 91, wouldn’t want to go back 35 years 👍.
I came here, bizarrely (out of boredom), to hear the utterly ridiculous voice of reporter Brian Barron again (I never listened to a word he ever said at the time because I was too absorbed by his tone and delivery)....surely an influence on Morris and his Eugene Fraxby.
Peter was at his best during major events like this. You can see how much he enjoyed it. He could look quite bored on 'normal' days!
Absolutely right, he loved big news stories.
This edition of the BBC Six O'Clock News dedicated to the beginnings of the First Gulf War was originally broadcast on Thursday 17th January 1991
