A disease that spreads on Black Friday causes the United States to collapse in five days. Thousands perished as a genetically modified version of Smallpox was spread using cash. As things were bought and sold on one of the year’s busiest nights, many residents in the borough of Manhattan came into contact with this deadly malaise.
After thousands of kills, tons of loot, hundreds of collectibles, and more bullets fired than we care to count, a player can reach the end of the current story. Yet, in all of the fire, explosions, and cries for help, it’s easy to miss exactly what’s going on. There are a lot of stories going on at once, but only a few are key to the bigger picture.
The division is of the most beautifully detailed game I’ve ever played and it’s map design goes completely unnoticed. When you take a break from fighting bullet sponges with all of the RPG mechanics, it’s truly unreal how immersive and detailed the island of Manhattan is. Snow blowing off the corners of walls, the way cars bounce when you step on them. The scattered newspapers on the streets. Every part of the map shows the way how society came to a halt. It’s truly one of the most detailed maps ever in a video game.
Even after five years since this game's release, i still find Midtown Manhattan to be chilling, figuratively and literally. The abandoned quarantine zones, the PAs spouting off announcements, the civilians roaming the streets, the still-going fires. And the Dark Zone; when you're not getting in constant fights, it's a spooky place. Body bags, unfinished or deserted JTF locations, and quarantine symbols absolutely litter the place. While people may say it seems generic, it has stuck with me.
Well said. I still jump back into this game just to relive the ambience. A perpetual apocalyptic winter.
@@LiveWallpaperMaster just jumped back into the game this past weekend. The atmosphere is special.
Just finished the base games main story last week. Still looks fantastic. My favorite ambience is the base of operations cause it feels like a terminal/train station.
This game's map is incredibly highly detailed, ahead of its time for 2014. Honestly I was amazed at the level of atmosphere, ambiance and tiny detail put into the map as I was running around, shooting. Every so often I just had to stop and look around, and...wow. And that's just on 1080p, maxing out the settings and the game is absolutely gorgeous. Jeeze, if you tried using even the fastest GPU & CPU combo available back in 2014 you still couldn't max out this game. It really was ahead of its time visually, like some other games.
@@ThunderTheBlackShadowKitty Division 1 came out in 2016, but ok
49:08 I've given that guy, like, 200 sodas
He has now since passed away from uncontrolled diabetes.
Best setting and atmosphere to any post-apocalyptic game I've played. Nothing beats playing this game from November through to January. The most haunting and beautiful winter at the same time.
Hands down.
@@Leostunzz Wish I could play this on something better than PS4, can't believe how good it looks on PC!
@@boxmad9850 I’m gonna download it for PC
@@Leostunzz sounds epic, I'd download it on my laptop but pretty sure the thing would blow up!
I remember spending so many late nights in the DZ. When I wasn’t actively in the DZ I was bunkered up in the safehouse in the middle of DZ4 just listening to Wouldn’t You Know It and listening to the safehouse theme for hours. Periodically you would hear gunfights while in DZ 4 SF due to other players or rogues duking it out. Great times man great times.
Yeah I always found the DZ to be the most terrifying place in the game. Shooting your flair to extract your items and hoping no one was nearby to kill you and steal them. Scary stuff!
Everyone used to shit so hard on this game but the atmosphere is so good
Just got a new pc so now ill be able to enjoy the game with more that 25 fps
Take me back to December 2017 😭
Honestly.
