- This is my personal Top / Best 20 Flying/Space Shoot em up games list for the Sega Mega Drive / Sega Genesis.
You might have a different opinion (and that's ok) so please feel free to write your own list (or your suggestions) down in the comments!

Hellfire is massively slept on
When you make a list try to include Time Stamps it's much easier. Love this btw
For me thunderforce 3 was an epic and brilliant shooter.And the fourth episode ,too.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. It's freaking awesome! I know it's weird, but I absolutely LOVE "Biohazard Battle!” That's my top choice. I play it all the time!
Anything between Aleste and the Thunderforces I would have put lower rank and instead have added hellfire and Gaïares. Very interesting how personal history and tastes influence such a list :) thanks for the work of creating this video! It was fun and I liked watching it

Gaiares and Whip Rush should be on the list!
Gaiares is arguably the best shump on Genesis/MD.
Definitely better then some of these turds shown.

Im not sure if it waa on this list, but there was a space shooter way back when i was like 5 (1996) and my grandfather had got me this really cool sega game where you had to choose different planets towards the end game. I remember the first level the most. Picking either a red or a blue ship (it was also 2player) to race across a sun when you get attacked by these burning fish monsters only to encounter their mom and she is mad and hungry xD it was amazing! But it has been lost to time. And these other shooters are pretty awesome!! :D
(I know I'm two years late, but in case anyone's still wondering...) that game was most probably Sagaia /Darius II. The description fits perfectly, at least.

Buen top! Todos son muy buenos, pero estoy de acuerdo en que el primer puesto se lo merece “Thunder Force IV” Es impresionante el despliegue técnico que demostró la Sega Genesis con este titulo. También me gustan el “Grind Stormer" y el “Thunder Force III"... Saludos!
Mine are TF4, Grindstormer, Musha, gleylancer, truxton, wings of wor, elemental master, tf3, eliminate down, and bio hazard battle, in that order!
Y el Arrow flash??? Era un señor juegazo con melodías increíbles y niveles muy buenos

Also great TF3 and Gaiares.
A step down (but still good): TF4, Gynoug, Mercs, Super Swiv.
The rest is bs
Truxton is no. 1 for me. Most memorable music, smooth gameplay, colors, graphics.
Cant Beat the Mega-Drive Shoot em Ups, big thumbs up 👍👍
Turbo Grafx/Pc engine is the only console that surpasses it
Soldier Blade and Blazing Lazers, love them on the Turbo Grafx 16
Super Airwolf is another terrific top down shooter! Not the crossfire version, that one doesn’t have Airwolf’s awesome music.
Where are the troubleshooter games?? These are outstanding!!!
As young I was playing vertical shooter with dragons. Does anyone have a clue how to find it? I think it was just super nintento or sega mega drive 2 in Europe year 94-97

Thunder force is my iiissshhhh!!!! My uncle had a 16 bit and b4 he gave it to me I used to play thunder force a lot and that shoot em up where you're a sheriff...can't remember the name but yea SOR, MK, Sonic. 90s had some great 2D side strollers for any genre of itch you needed scratching.

Подскажите, мой отец играл в одну игру, где корабль летит по горизонтали, в зависимости от буста, меняет звет и тип стрельбы (вверх/вниз, лево/право, по диаогонали и т.д.), там был точно уровень где летало что то по типу головов фараона (все противники летали сверху и низу, делали круг и возвращались, помню что там было около 10и уровней и последний босс был огромный корабль почти на весь экран, я помню отец дошел идин раз но победить не смог
Best one is gleylancer imo. The soundtrack is some of the best on the console

i a gree with the list, they might be rare and expensive, but not necessary the best in gaming. I do seriously agree with the list, that in top down shooters Raiden, Truxton and specially grind stormer are better games than early musha aleste though musa aleste has better music. and in side view shooters, thunder force 4 is the absolute best in very aspect, wether is gameplay wepons range stages and music..

δυστυχώς σήμερα η Sega εκτός από YAKUZA τίποτα άλλο δεν βγάζει εάν δεν την αγοράσει καμία άλλη εταιρία να δείξει χρήματα δεν την βλέπω καλά.
Εδω και παρα πολλα χρονια φιλε SPARTAN η Sega εχει συγχωνευθει με την Sammy και στην πραγματικοτητα κουμαντο πια κανει η δευτερη! "SegaSammy" ειναι η ονομασια, απλα στο division των videogames χρησιμοποιειται το ονομα της Sega γιατι ειναι και ιστορικο και πιο γνωστο και οικειο στους gamers!
Δυσκολο λοιπον να πουληθει η Sega μονη της αν δεν το επιτρεψει/αποχωρησει η Sammy!
How the FUFK is MUSHA not on here at all, LET ALONE not in the #1 spot?!?!?!?!? The Thunderforce games are great, but the fact that there's 2 of them, nearly identical games no less, makes them less special than MUSHA, ergo MUSHA should be number 1.... especially when it IS arguably a better game as well...
Task force harrier EX in no. 1 and it's not on that list.
