The orchestra did an incredible job at playing this so closely to the original and the maestro added that little touch of interpretation that's very enjoyable but yeah. I would also prefer a lower tempo like 5-10bpm... Just for a better imperial and menacing feel
I'm obsessed with this song, and I've never even played the game. I hear influences of Stravinsky, Orff, and even Verdi's Requiem - I think these inspirations are used so well in this piece. Not to say that Nobuo has no originality of his own. The piece sounds distinctly Nobuo Uematsu as well!
2:09 and 3:17 are just such absolutely transcendent, jaw-dropping moments. gives me shivers every time. also, my man on the slapsticks at 3:04 and 3:25 is the backbone of this orchestra
The fact that I played a video game when I was 16 that contained this music is now recreated by an entire orchestra as an adult proves to me that video games really can transcend time. Final Fantasy 7 was an effort. It was a creation of art. This video alone is proof of that. I am in awe of what Squaresoft did in 1997. Thank you.
