Dina Asher-Smith showing the value of experience here. She didn't panic after her slow start. She didn't over race, kept her form and relied on her technique to see her through to the gold medal. Brilliant.
I agree , no panic and simply pulled all the girls back in , it’s great to see a young athlete from Luxembourg tho . I mean where even is that on the world map right it’s so small ?!!
Maybe not , but not sure what an earth happens to our amazing GB women when it comes to the big races . The big 100 metre Olympic races our girls get left all the time, iv seen Daryl nieta step out of the blocks having an awful start and then literally cruise past so so many amazing women to win the race , it was a heat but it shows if she sorts her head out she could win an Olympic medal or world champs . But our girls in any final always always mess it up for some reason why ? Can only be what’s going on inbetween the ears right ? Times running out aswell when it comes to age and how old they’ll be next Olympics 😢 . Would be lovely to see them medal in the big games right!!!
I was going to comment the same thing. Much more common among female athletes, I think, although we see a lot of this kind of support in field events, men's or women's. However and whenever it takes place, it's so great to see.
Yes, I agree. She seems to be peaking at the perfect time with the Olympics coming. I wouldn't be surprised if this is finally her year to run sub 10.8. She looks very comfortable.
Congratulations Dina Asher -Smith Well done. You're the Champion 🏆 once again. You possess great Talent. All your hard work brought you Success. The BRIT
After a great start by Dina (10.83/21.88) in the Semi where she ran an easy looking 10.96 (0.3) in a little bit of rain, she got completely left in the blocks in the Final & really had to work her way through the Field (like McKenzie Long in the NCAA 100m Final) to run that 10.99 (0.7). Given the current W100/200m landscape, wonder which event represents her most realistic chance for her 1st ever Individual Olympic Medal? With Dina's Top 3 200m times of 21.88, 21.89 & 21.96, the 200m if Shericka (21.41) & Gabby (21.60) can get close to their best in 7wks time in Paris might just be it as that Bronze Medal is up for grabs between everyone else inc Dina! Swoboda & Dosso have had so many close 60/100m races this yr :) Hope they both run sub 11s this yr!
It's unfortunate for Europe but no one in Europe will see the podium in the 100m or 200m. Too many Super Elite runners from the U.S. and Jamaica. UK could possibly medal in the 4x100m relay.
Brilliant to see Dina break 11 seconds and win off a bad start. For too long it's been the other around, where she gets out like Christian Coleman and then seems to hit a wall at 60m. Has to be an enormous confidence boost.
Whoever was in lane 3 of that race had a beautiful start, just didn't have the endurance. Asher-Smith definitely did good but she got a lot of work to do if she wants to beat shacarri, shericka, or shelly-ann

good to see Amy Hunt (lane 1) back and healthy again (she ran 22.42/200 for the under 18 World Record in 2019). She needs to start better than this for the 100m though
i dont understand that false start lol, they had the slowest time marked wtf? am i misunderstanding something? 2/10ths is slower than the 1/10th allowable
I been watching track for 20 years now. I’m feel bad, but Lane 9 the best loser of all time. She always comes back strong enough to get on the best stages to never have a world moment. I feel so bad for her because she getting older . She has a chance just idk what it is. She has a great spirit no matter what and comes back next year unfazed. She will be remembered for her dedication to the sport and her ability to brush off negativity.✊🏾
She needs to find 1/3rd of a second to get near the best, but only she knows if that is possible with her coach......great second half of the race she was well down which does remind me of Shar Cari........
So with the first start; Why did Kambundji (track 9, long black hair) get the yellow warning when Van der Weken (track 7, red hair-bun band) had the best start and was just ahead. Frame by frame we can see that when the gun goes off (optical flash of starting pistol) ALL the runners hand both hands on the track and ALL had both feet FLAT on their blocks. It looked like a great start to me but I don't know the rules. Mind you all the runners, except for Kambundji had their hair tied back, while hers was a thick curly ponytail slumped forward over the line. Is that considered a head start... or is the robot just profiling??
It's so beautiful to see the girls waiting for the results and hugging each other as they came up ❤ So much support!
That lady Asher-Smith managed to win despite a terrible start, what a superb atlhete! Congratulations!!!

It's good that Dina didn't panic after that start.
The U.S is about the sweep the sprint races.
They will not beat Thomson in Paris. So l don't know how they would sweep the medals.
Jamaicans are even better. These athletics are between Jamaicans and Americans most of the time, but an Italian somehow won it in 2021 olympics
