For the very brave Norwegian runner, Grøvdal, who came in 2nd, I wonder if it would have bern better to not pace a runner with a better kick than herself. Would it have been better to hang back and stay as a group of five, or stay behind the stronger runner if she decides to push the pace? But wow, Grøvdal's tenacious effort and determination to win the race was truly impressive. Hats off to her.
It's a difficult situation either way. If you sit behind the runner they will drop the pace and out kick you even more at the finish. I'd say best to keep the pace as high as you can manage to hopefully take the kick out of them. Better have 5 consistent laps than 3/4 slow and 1/2 fast. Ideally you need another runner to help with the pacing but rarely will you get somebody help.

Battocletti could probably run several seconds faster if she was running with some of the fastest East Africans (Gudaf Tsegay, Faith Kipyegon, Beatrice Chebet, Letesenbet Gidey).

Grøvdal doesn't really have a kick so she frontruns most races

I like how the commentators gave credit to Grøvdal for pushing the field until the last 100 meters. It made Battocletti achieve the time she did.
