Thank you Now I understand what it is used for... good to know...
The smaller tanks are great for culinary torches. 😊
Fabulous for the Searzall!
Yes. Definitely.
Thanks Linus
Any time. Glad to help. Ciao.
Video was a good heads up.
Thank you for watching.
Also from my calculations, the 1/4 lb Flame King fully filled with propane comes at 12 oz and carries exactly 50% of the BTU as a full canister of MSR IsoPro or Coleman Isobutane/Propane which both also come at about 12 oz. So it'd be good for short hikes/backpacking trips and saving 15x the cost on fuel (TSC Propane Refill vs IsoPro canister).
The most that I can add to the bottle is 50 grams of LPG.
@@Linus007 that seems a bit low. I'll have to empty out my current ones and weigh it when I refill next just to check
@@caesardgreatest Thank you. Looking forward to your results.
@@Linus007 I got the same result, exactly 50 grams. Redoing the math, it cuts the BTU down to only about 22% that of an IsoPro canister or 11% of a 1 lb propane tank. It'll be able to boil about 2L of water with a pocket rocket style stove (30% efficiency) or 3.5L with a radiant stove (near 50% efficiency).
@@caesardgreatest thank you for confirming the weight of independently. I have two of these tanks and they both come in at 50 g of propane fuel when I fill them. Butane is slightly heavier. In terms of cost I estimate about six cents of propane fuel fits inside of the container.
How did you get the weight label printed on the bottle?
I used a clear thermal label. In my situation, I am using an old Panasonic thermal typewriter from the late 1980s.
these small tanks should be able to hold more than 50 grams of propane. 50 grams is 1.763 ounces, flame king says that these can hold 4.85 ounces or 137 grams. perhaps the best way to fill these is by keeping the bleeder closed, and checking the liquid level with the bleeder only when the filling valve is closed. fully filled it should weigh 13.85 ounces, or 392 grams.
With a try. Thanks!
@@Linus007did it work?
@@carls.6746 multiple times I have filled these containers with propane and each time the maximum amount that I can fill is 50 g.
@@Linus007 well thats a shame. i asked flameking about their half pound bottle and they said it does hold 8oz when filled full.
That seems more reasonable (226 g).
How long would this last with a camp stove like a msr pocket rocket
If you are careful on using lower settings that avoid pushing the flame away from the pot, you should get a few days of fuel use.
@Linus007 This is perfect. I live out in the country so constantly buying new canisters is a pain in the ass
@@eldiablo2044 Here is the video where we use these propane tanks with backpack portable butane stoves. It took us a few months to come up with this solution, and we think you might like it.

@@Linus007 can the hose and barb be cut shorter or is that as compact as it gets?
@@eldiablo2044 you can, but I cannot recommend it for or against it since cutting the barb might compromise safety.
WHO KNOWS WHAT GRAMS ARE!!!! SPEAK LBS!!!
Thank you. Interesting comment. Chao.
