Dear Walter, I have viewed many of your videos over a large number of years and am most grateful for your continuous input the directed at the 'novice' physics community. My concern, as shared by many others is your slow decline in (mostly) motor skills and cognitive impairment. You seem to have it, sort of under control, but if it is not part of your regiment, I would suggest testing an all meat diet (mainly fatty red meat and water only) for about 3 months and see where that takes you.
    Many heart felt thanks. Karel

    Respected Sir Walter Lewin,
Over the years, you are the only person who made me feel interested in physics, made it my favourite subject.
I have been seeing your lectures since I was in the 5th grade. I have always absorbed a lot of information seeing your lectures, fascinated by your enthusiasm and love for physics. I really appreciate everything you have ever done, and how selflessly you have taught students around the globe with so much love. And sir because of you in my JEE main mock tests I scored 96, 92 and 100 in physics (only three tests have been conducted so far). All this credit goes to you sir. Thank you sir, a salute to you!
    Love from Delhi, India.

While reading physics from certain textbooks they say certain statements like "Fluid Pressure doesn't depend on shape of the container","Heat always flows from Hotter quantity to colder quantity" But never explain the reason like the actua fundamental reason for the happening on a atomic scale and i always wonder and find it difficult to find info on the same.
Would love if you recommend one textbook that does explain everything ❤

In Keith's solution, he mentions just right at the escape velocity the trajectory of the orbit would resemble a parabola, does that mean it would never return to the moon? (Since parabola is not a closed shape) Or should you have a velocity greater than the exact escape velocity to not return to the moon?

    • @KeithandBridget
      @KeithandBridget Місяць тому +1

At escape velocity it will escape! so not return. Theoretically the path is a parabola. In practice it is a boundary between elliptic (closed orbit) and hyperbolic (gone never to return)

    Good morning Professor,
Is there an email address I can contact you on? The one online from MIT is not functioning and I have a request regarding a physics text book.
I can imagine you are very busy, and maybe receive a lot of messages but if you see this message I would be so grateful for a reply.
    Thank you 😌

@@lecturesbywalterlewin.they9259 Wow, thank you for your reply, Professor! Short and funny but at least I got one 😂
I wanted to request a copy of your book with a small personalised message in it generally directed.
I just wanted to request it directly as opposed to in the comments. I know you sold some books a while ago which were signed.
You have been so influential and so wonderful as a teacher I just wanted to get to thank you and maybe get one of your books with something as a memory.
I lost the chance to thank and ask others such as Marian Diamond (the neurologist - my field of study is Biology,) but sadly she died before I got the chance.
If it's at all possible I would be extremely grateful, and I'm messaging from here in England 🤭
      Please let me know,
And thank you again for your reply. You made my day 😬

Hello Dr Lewin. I've been watching your Videos since 2010. I'm 70 years old!! I love learning physics.. I just watched your video lecture on Gyroscopes. Very IMPRESSIVE.. I doubt you take Viewer Request.. but If so..I wonder if you can Explain what the Precession and Vectors would be on the gyroscope in this Video Link.. I recall your lesson that Angular Momentum Follows Torque in Precssion... but here's the Link...it seems to defy Gravity.. Thank You Sir.. :) ua-cam.com/video/ldqUV-DXiUg/v-deo.html
