I was born in '49 and lived on McKinley until I left home after high school. Your assessments are accurate concerning backyards and basements. Most of the houses in the immediate area are now 100 years old. Kenmore was started in the 1910's. So they typically have smallish bedrooms, very small closets and often only one bathroom unless they have been updated. I was born in the boomers years and they built many neighborhood elementary schools and we all walked to school. Now, with the population declines in general many of those old schools have been closed. Still a very nice area as you describe. I left the area after the blizzard of '77.
