Facing the Sea of Japan in the western Chugoku region and located in northern Yamaguchi Prefecture, this castle town was the base of the Choshu Domain ruled by the Mori clan during the Edo period. This video was filmed with a GoPro 12 while driving through Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, a rare town that produced all of the central figures in the Meiji Restoration, including Yoshida Shoin, Takasugi Shinsaku, Kido Takayoshi, and Yamagata Aritomo.
The video was filmed early in the morning, just after sunrise. As you can see, there are many narrow alleys in the streets of Hagi, which can be a nuisance during times when there are many tourists strolling around :-)
Route: Sanin Expressway Hagi IC → JR Hagi Station → Hagi Castle Ruins → Takasugi Shinsaku's Birthplace → Hagi Castle Town → Kido Takayoshi's Former House → JR Higashi-Hagi Station → Shoin Shrine (Shoka Sonjuku) → Route 191 → → Former Hagi Domain School Meirinkan → Yamaguchi Prefectural Hagi Museum of Art · Urakami Memorial Museum
Basically uncut, but the scenes where people are waiting at traffic lights have been edited.
Filmed in 4K.
