There’s a lot more to CT other than Mystic. 1. Essex steam train and riverboat 2. Peabody museum/Yale art gallery in New Haven 3. Frank Pepe’s pizza in New Haven 4. There are multiple apple orchards and winery’s all over the state for tourists to enjoy 5. Travel along route 1. There are hundreds of great locally owned businesses and restaurants open year round that have the New England feel that you’re looking for

If you love the sea and the history of New England shipping, fishing and whaling then the Mystic Seaport musuem is a must see! I live in CT and go at least once a year. There is nothing like being onboard and walking around these historic ships. Also, go for a sail on the 20' catboat for a great view of things from the water. When my son was younger he always was allowed to take the helm and help the captain ... priceless memories!
Mystic definitely has great eats in the area. We used to go to the John Edwards winery for a wine tasting and then drive down to the Mystic Pizza II for lunch. Omg delicious.
Another great video Mark and perfect timing as I'll be stopping in Mystic in a couple of weeks en route to Hyannis. We'll be pesky Scottish tourists but will try to play down the tourist-ness lol.
I kinda hesitate to mention it because it gets so many visitors as it is, but B.F. Clydes Cider mill is only a few miles away, and is the oldest steam powered cider mill in the U.S. that you can see pressing the mash. Great ciders, including a variety of hard ciders if you choose, and a lot of locally produced preserves and canned goods. Only open seasonally in the fall, so check their website before you go.
nice vid. Caught my favorite restaurant (Engine Room) raised on seafood, the aged specialty steak there is always a treat and a 'break' from seafood for the locals.
When you head back to Connecticut, stop in New Haven to try the pizza, or apizza as it is called there. Go to Modern Apizza, it's less touristy than Sally's or Pepe's. And wash it down with a Foxon Park birch beer. May want to check out Louis' Lunch as well, the birthplace of the hamburger.
Planning a 10-day car trip to Bar Harbor from NC next summer and because of your videos on Mystic, we've altered our plans and are now planning to stay 2 nights in the Mystic/Stonington area. Thanks for the great vid.
We went savannah to Raleigh to Williamsburg VA to Mystic to Concord NH then all through Maine to bar harbor :) then on up to Canada. Maine was gorgeous. You will love it.
The best pizza is Mangos. It is in the shopping village next to the aquarium. They use a wood oven and use caputo flour.I live in Key West. People from Noak, Groton and stonington settled Key West in the 1830's
Mystic is one of the few nice places in CT, i grew up in that state but never did like it much. only benefit of the state is it's central location to actual nice places like NY, RI, NH, VT, etc...
moodswyng well... we try to get around the US too... though on this trip through the US we ended up going to Canada and spending 4 weeks in Canada on our US roadtrip :) whoops ;) thanks for watching!
