I have a new machine with no hardlimit switches, I am conditioned to home every start up and let it donuts thing, then head to G54 as a general start point .
I did the setup , but when I hit the referee the z start going up to positive indefinitely, the x y z remain in red. Also I noticed that I can't reset the z to ceros. Any clues? Thank as
I have followed your tutorial, but my soft limits don't work. In the soft limits and homing, I see that there is a check box for "reversed" I see you have this checked, what are these for? Motor reversed??
Good video, wouldn't it be best to move all axis to one extreme first, then zero all, then move all axis to the opposite extreme and enter those figures on the axis DROs as your soft max values - that would measure you machine usable areas in the real world - otherwise you are setting arbitrary or inaccurate values as your max. I am a novice at CNC so maybe I missed the whole point but I am just thinking logically.

Whatever SoftLimits I set being in zero position, Mach 3 keeps on warning: "Machine out of limits for SoftLimit Activation".
I think the Z axis needs a negative number.

So setting up soft limits will prevent you from crashing in all directions xyz no matter where you set you project 000 start position?
