Single-use plastic pollution is still rampant in the country, even as Kenya positions itself as one of the key players in the fight against climate change. However, a local innovator has found purpose with plastic waste, as he recycles it into petrol and diesel fuel, and looks to provide an alternative to the fuel crisis in Kenya

If we had a visionary leadership they would take this concept differently. This gentlemen have come up with the process of refining crude oil. That means given government support they can come up with large refinery and we can start refining the Tulow oil on our own. Sadly this can be a depiction of the fact that in Kenya there is an invisible hand destroying Kenyan inventions

I have a masters in molecular chemistry.
As much as fuel is a hydrocarbon and most plastic is, there's no "shortcut method" of turning plastic back to a petroleum or petroleum like structure. It's just not feasible. Worse is that they don't seem to have an active RnD but are doing all this by hit or miss. Any serious chemist will tell you there's nothing here.
